Dawn, The same thing happened to me last week. I had a couple bites of potatoe salad, and I suddenly needed to vomit. I'm sure it'll be a long time till I eat that again. Finally us July 2010 bandsters have a place of our own.

Dr. checked fill level and now OUCH!
pollywogg replied to ffpandamer's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a similar experiance to you. I had my first fill Aug 6th by my family dr who had never done it before. We think he missed too but the swelling initially gave me some restriction. Its a 13hr drive to the clinic where I had my surgery and I'd really rather not drive that far for a 5 min appointment. I hope he figures it out next week when we try again. -
Way to go! Keep up the good work!

Hi Miss_BiBi and Cjf, People food is wonderful. :blushing: I've had a few things that were slow going down but nothing has gotten stuck or uncomfortable. Last night after supper I had shoulder pain so I think I ate a bit too much, I should have had half a cob of corn instead of a full one. Miss Bibi how long were you stuck for? I'm anxious to hear how the scale was for you.

What do I do when in bandster hell?
pollywogg posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded July 8th and I'm now on solid foods. I'm following the doctors instructions and I'm eating 3 - 1 cup meals of mostly protein and documenting how long till I fell hungry again. I'm so hungry! Being summer my doctor is away and its going to be 3 more weeks till I can get my first fill. Do I have to live like this for another 3 weeks? -
What do I do when in bandster hell?
pollywogg replied to pollywogg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel 100% better with all your help. After being banded I had no idea I would need to diet again like this. I thought I would have some restriction. I kind of lost it Friday night and felt so lost. I am going to eat like I have restriction, so I don't stretch anything and it'll be like practice for later like you suggested Betsy. I do want to continue losing weight until I find my sweet spot, and it won't be for forever. I'm looking forward to that day. -

Thank you so much! I feel so much better then I did last night. Now I know exactly what to do. Diet and exercise! Not what I expected to be doing post band but I don't want to gain. Hopefully I find my green zone soon, stay positive and be patient.:rolleyes2: -

Thanks Humming Bird. Knowing that I have to diet for a few weeks I can deal with. At least I know what I'm doing. Last night I was so upset and lost, and afraid I'd gain. I feel much better now! -

If I eat more than the 1c (staying at 1200 calories a day) does it stretch my pouch, or will it slide right through because I obviously will need a fill. I`m so worried I`m going to stretch it out and ruin everything. Or should I just have a little snack between meals but keep all intake under a cup. Thanks for the great advice! -
MrsCabes thank you so much for your post! I`m 4 weeks out and questioning everything I`m doing. I`m frustrated because I just want to eat a little and get a break from hunger. I`m glad to hear I`m normal and that this is only a temporary phase. I was just so pumped and now a bit let down.

I`m saving some of my meditrim for after each fill when we have to go on liquids again for a day or two! I`m so tired of them. Your a tough cookie!

I'm exactly the same as you, the odd food seems to go down slower and feels stuck but it passes quickly. For Breakfast I've been having yogurt with a couple tablespoons of raisin bran and 3 diced up strawberries, lunch 4 triscuits with low fat cheese, salsa and 6 cherries, supper grilled chicken and vegies. I'm sticking to their instructions to have 3 1/2-1c meals but they are not keeping me full till the next meal. Also I'm only hitting about 750 calories a day doing this? Do you think its okay to add a 4th meal just to get up to 1000 calories??? I might end up going to Thunder Bay for my first fill but its a 3 hr drive each way. SWLC sent my physician a video, learning package and all the equipment he`ll need to do my fills. Honestly he is a brilliant man! Do you know if there is anyone in Sault Ste. Marie, I`m going that way for holidays in just over a week.

Question for the banded ladies....
pollywogg replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to wear panties and a pad if I was bleeding. They also said no tampons. Good luck! -
I drove, I know a little crazy. The day after my surgery we went as far as Sudbury and I had had enough. The next day we got all the way home and I could have kept going, I was feeling great. We stopped lots along the way shopping and walking on beaches. What city are you getting your fills in? We don't have anyone trained here but my GP is willing to learn - yikes!!! He is actually awesome. I work in the health care field and I trust him. You'll feel so much better once your stitch comes out. I had Dr. Mumford and he was awesome too! I've called the nurses and dietician a few times now and they are so supportive, patient and kind. !! I started normal solid foods today!
-
My dietician said we need to avoid duel consistancy foods like cereal and milk, its the same as drinking with your meal.
-
No sorry I'm not on any gardening forums. I had Dr. Mumford at SWLC. I also went back to work yesterday. I have a very physical job so I needed to be off 2 good weeks. Its going really well though, it was time. Who was your surgeon?
-
I am 2 and a half weeks post op and back to work today. Up to this week I lost 25 lbs but it has slowed right down. I know the weight loss is supposed to be slow but it felt so good. Patience is a virture - right? I'm looking forward to my first fill which isn't scheduled yet. In the meantime I'll focus on eating right, exercising and enjoying the summer!

Hernia pain after lap band surgery?
pollywogg replied to happylappy745's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also banded on July 8th and had a hernia repair. I had lots of shoulder pain and had to sleep sitting up for the first 2 weeks for sure. After that I got back to normal really fast and now I can sleep flat on either side. You must be more swollen or your hernia was large. Rest lots and hopefully you get better soon. -
Thank you I needed that. I'm 3 weeks post-op. I've lost 25 lbs including the pre-op diet but its started to slow down. I want a fill as soon as possible so the weight loss continues, it feels so good. Patience is a problem I have. Thanks!
-
So nice to hear your wonderful story. I am 13 days post op and have lost weight but I'm looking forward to dropping that first size. My pre-op clothes still fit but they are getting really loose. Patience is a virtue! Keep up the great work! I'm happy for you!

Glad things are going so well for you. I get banded next week!

Scared of my surgery
pollywogg replied to CurvasPeligrosas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like we are getting banded on the same day. I also have no medical conditions and weigh 310lbs. I think I'm mostly excited for my new life but on the other hand I'm having a really hard time sleeping so I guess deep down I'm nervous too. I'm just trying to stay really busy so time flies and this pre-op diet comes to an end. Best of luck! -
Any July Bandsters??
pollywogg replied to Espresso88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I'm on day 5 of the pre-op diet and boy is my body missing carbs. Anyone else feeling crappy on the pre op? -
Things are going much better than I expected on the pre-op diet. Today is day 3 and I'm surviving just fine. My pre-op diet consists of 3 protein shakes a day and up to 250 calories a day from low glycemic vegies, nothing else but water. 2 days done and 19 to go! When I think of doing this for 3 weeks it can get overwhelming so I'm focusing on hour by hour. I'm generally 80% excited about my future, 10% nervous for the surgery and 10% nervous about my success. But overall I think I had given up hope of ever getting slim and healthy. Now I have hope and excitement for the first time in as long as I can remember. I'm so happy to be rid of the daily mental struggle to loose weight battling the daily dissapointment and discouragement from myself. Emotionally I'm 100lbs lighter already with the decision to get the band.
