I'm so happy for you! Its all very exciting. I'm so happy with my decision even more now. I'm at my sweet spot and the weight is just falling off. It feels wonderful!

Wow you have done great! I hope to follow in your footsteps!

    Couch to 5K ?

I never knew what couch to 5k was, but I'm totally pumped and excited to start! My only concern is my size. Looking at the program and considering my fitness level (I'm in fairly good shape despite my weight) I am still skeptical that I can do it. I am going to give it an honest go though.

Hey ladies how are you doing? Miss Bibi did you get your fill yet? I had my second fill last Friday and I think I'm at my sweet spot. I've been stuck many times over the week but I'm learning the hard way from it. What surprised me is that when I drink something I get a really full feeling for about 10mins. Just thinking of you two and wondering what is new?
  5. I was banded July 8, 2010. I had my second fill a week ago and HELLO restriction! If I drink half a glass of water I feel full for about 10mins! I have been stuck many times in the last week and I'm quickly learning what I can and cannot eat. I have 6cc's in a 10cc band.

    Losing Hair

I'm going through the same thing right now except for once in my life I'm glad my hair is very thick, no one has noticed yet but I fill my pick up everyday and my shirts are covered with hair. I'm taking a chewable multi vitamin and zinc, its hasn't gotten better or worse. Talk to your doctor you may need b12 shots.

You must be so frustrated waiting for needles! The surprising thing for me this fill is that water fills me up for a bit when I have a drink! I think that's how I know that anymore would be too much. I hope you find your jeans! Another 20lbs and I'll get out my clothes in storage too!
  8. I had 4.2cc's in my band at surgery. My first fill was .8 to bring me to 5cc and my second was another 1cc. Everyone is different though. 10% don't even need a fill!
  9. I also felt no change after my first fill either. Get in as soon as you can for your next one! My Dr. likes 2 weeks between fills.

Thanks for the condolences and way to go Miss Bibi! I only dream of being in onderland! I'm so happy for you! I had my second fill yesterday here in my home town and it went well. I'm so happy! I feel a HUGE difference now, its exactly like I imagined it should be. Before this fill I didn't really have to take small bites or chew a lot, most things went down too good . Now I have to take really small bites and chew my food really well. Now I hope to see the scale start moving steadily toward onderland! I also have a closet or two full of clothes of all sizes. I think once I've lost a size or two I'll haul them out and organize them by size. Till then I have enough to get by and I don't need the discouragement right now. I wear a uniform to work also, it does help a lot. Sorry to hear you have bad arthritis cjf!

I think I'm having some hair loss??

Thank you Greenbeans and Jachut. I do eat protein first at meal times but I guess I could always do better with my nutrition. I'm so happy to hear you had a lot of hair loss too but didn't really notice it. So far its the same for me and I hope it stays that way.
  12. Hi Tanchels - glad you found us! I was in a lot of pain also. How about you Wimic? At one point I thought I was going to have to sleep sitting up forever. Even now I still get the shoulder pain it I eat a bit too much. I did find I got much better every day. Get lots of rest and walk when you feel up to it. Take care of yourself!

Hi Ladies! Miss Bibi I feel the same way as you most days. I seem to stay the same for days and days then suddenly I'll be down 2-3 lbs. Its painful when for many days there is no change. My father in law passed away from cancer on Monday so things have been crazy around here. He is the first parent we have lost. He was diagnosed only 7 weeks ago. Anyway I'm going to try to find time to call the clinic today and get going on my next fill. Hopefully for next week too. Are you both exercising much? I'm getting in a good hour walk every other day right now but now that I'm not spending tons of time at the hospital I want to get out more.

    Hi, Im new.

The idea of a bypass haunted me for years, but when I found out about the band it was like a dream come true. I seriously love my band! Good luck with your journey!

    Getting banded 10/1/10 WOOOHOO

Good luck everyone. I've been banded for just over 2 months and I'm very happy with my decision. The hardest part was the pre-op diet. I woke up in from surgery in a lot more pain then I expected, but I got better very fast every single day. I hope you are all as happy with your decision as I have been. Best of luck!

    Port pain after fill?

Do you normally bruise easily? Sounds like you have a deep bruise from surgery still and have bruised from your fill. Putting heat on it will help the bruise reabsorb and heal faster.

I'm back from my very quick trip to the clinic and all is well. I had 4.2cc's in my band and I was topped up to 5cc. I'm not quite there yet but very close. I'm very relieved that all is well.

So Done With it all - Thanks for the info on Timmins. It is a little closer I think. Good to know there is someone good there. A small fill is good if you are close to your sweet spot but it doesn't sound like you were Miss Bibi. I feel like I'm really close now so .5 might be all they give me on Friday. I'll let you know.
  19. I will be 2 months on Thursday and I'm also down a similar amount of weight. So far so good. I'm loving my band!!!

Hi Ladies! Miss Bibi did the SWLC prescribe only a .5 cc fill, I feel so bad for you. How much does this nurse charge, she does sound like a great resource though. Thanks for the advice cjf I will definitely give her a try. I had another attempt at a fill last Thursday morning, then I went out of town to take the kids back to school shopping. Anyway, my GP was positive he was in the port, still could not withdraw any fluid to check my levels, but was able to inject another 1cc. Since then I am sure it worked. I am eating 1 cup or less and it is keeping me full for over 4 hrs. I have lost 3 pounds since Thursday !! But I am returning to the SWLC on Friday just to confirm that everything is okay and get all my doubts answered. After that either my GP will learn from me or I will head to Sudbury (which is a 7 hr drive each way ). Sorry my update took so long. My father in law is in the hospital pallative (just since Friday) and with me being in the medical field I am up there a lot to translate.
  21. I was born in Newfoundland but I didn't grow up there. Good luck! I`m sure I have seen some others.

    Eating too much? Opinions please

My Doctor wants three 1/2 - 1 cup meals a day but no snacks in between. If there is any snacking or hunger inbetween meals then that is their que to do a fill.

    Breakfast Problems

A friend of mine has had a band for years and he has exactly the same problem, and yes bands do loosen as the day goes on. You can either skip breakfast completely if you are not hungry or have something soft like 1/2 - 1c of yogurt. Or drink some water 15mins before you eat to loosen things us. The literature from my clinic states that skipping a meal is fine as long as you are not hungry.

    Northern Ontario?

Hope your first fill goes well, keep us posted! Because I'm 12 hours from the clinic and because I'm in the medical field they agreed to let my GP (who is also an anesthesiologist) give it a try. It really should be an easy procedure, we are not quite sure why things don't seem to be working right. SWLC sent him a learning package including a video, the needles and a practice port. If the second attempt tomorrow night doesn't work then I guess I'll have to make the drive. I might try somewhere closer like Sudbury. I'm just a little worried something is wrong with it because it shouldn't be this difficult. I was told I have 2-3 cc in my band. I have a 10cc band what size is yours? 400 calories does seem a bit high for a hamburger patty. Was it store bought or home made?

    Northern Ontario?

Hi! I've been away on holidays. I'm happy to report I didn't gain anything while away but I didn't lose anything either. Some nights I wanted to snack but I think I wasn't making my calories count. Now that I'm home and focussing on eating protein at every meal first I'm doing much better. I love the suggestion about drinking the water before hand. I'm not drinking as much as I used to when I could drink when ever I wanted. Please let me know how your fills go in Sudbury. My GP (unexperianced in fills) is learning on me and the first attempt didn't go very well. I'm going to give him another try then I may resort to going to Sudbury as well. Are they good?
