Anyone having hair loss?
pollywogg replied to brooklyn64's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Cool! I'll try that too! -
Happy Thanksgiving! I have only been at my sweet spot for a month now but its 99% clear to me that I'm there. I have a hard time eating any solids for breakfast so I have a shake. Lunch is still a little hard to get down but as the day goes on it gets easier and easier. Once in a while I'll have a handful of baked chips and I fill up quickly but the other night I had some popcorn for the first time and before I knew it I ate the whole bag??? I heard that most people gage their fill by what they can eat for supper. So in that case I wonder if I could take a little bit more. Really I don't think so though. I won't be in the city to shop around for protein drinks for a while so I have a friend of mine looking around for me this week. In the meantime I have some meditrim left and I'm going to look at the ones you suggested online. Thanks for noticing my picture!

Oct 8th was my 3 month anniversary and I celebrated with an extra long workout . I completed week two of the Couch to 5k program this week as well. I have never been a runner but I'm loving it. I'm down 41lbs, I have so much energy and I feel awesome. I'm a quarter of the way to my goal, but a long way from onderland still. I can't wait for that day! I'm going to buy myself a kayak as a reward. I hope its not in the middle of winter - LOL!!! Other than the few people I have told about my band only one person has noticed my weight loss? Because of this I posted some pictures for the first time to see if I could see the difference. I feel very lucky to be at my sweet spot for 3 weeks already after only 2 fills. Life is beautiful! :frown:

Wow nice to see more July bandsters here. Rcain - we were banded the same day at similar weights! I totally agree that this is a lifestyle not a diet - well said! I'm lucky that cake is one food I don't care for, but now knowing that it'll probably get stuck I'll stay far away. On the way to thin - sorry to hear about your repeat surgery, 63lbs down is fantastic. Thanks for your experiance.

Miss Bibi- Thank you so much for the awesome information on scales and the protein shakes. I will look for both of them. How is your Thanksgiving? We had ours last night and I focused on the turkey and deviled eggs, but I did sneak a bite of stuffing, I love it! I don't like pumpkin pie so passing dessert was easy for me. Looking forward to hearing about yours. CJF - haven't heard from you in while - what's up?

I also have a best friend who is obese like me. When I first told her my plans to get a band she was 100% excited and supportive. She even did the pre-op diet with me for support. Since then I've lost 42lbs and I think she has gained them. I also feel like I can't talk to her about my excitement, happiness or weight loss news. When I try to ask her how her weight loss is going I know she is not being truthful, and it hurts. I want to be here for her like she was for me. Right now she has some medical issues that are stopping her from even considering a band. I know down the road when I'm successful she will consider it then, but with her medical issues it might be contraindicated. She and her husband moved here because of us, the four of us are best friends so cutting her out is not an option I need to fix this, but how?

Anyone having hair loss?
pollywogg replied to brooklyn64's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I am having significant hair loss as well, thank God I had really thick hair to begin with. I have talked to a few physicians about this and generally we are losing the hair that is in the dormant state because of a extreme diet change and the stress from the surgery. We are going to stop shedding about 6 months post op and after another 6 months our hair should be back to normal! Make sure you take your daily vitamin, and don't wear your hair up a lot, but other than that nothing much will really help. -
Well I took your advice, set my mind to it and I've completed week 2. My last day out it was such a gorgeous day I did a double! I am a bit scared to run for 3 min this coming week though! EEEKKK!!!!

What foods get stuck in your band?
pollywogg replied to use-to-be-cute's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was wondering about sushi - that you BestyB. Most of the things I have been stuck on are my own fault. I didn't take a small enough bit or chew well enough. I've only have real restriction for 3 weeks now. I have been stuck on chicken, english muffin, a mushroom, and a bit of bran muffin. -
So much - Your body is healing still, take one day at a time and focus on eating healthy foods to help you heal. I like aveeno oatmeal body wash in the shower. I live way up north and the harsh winters are hard on the skin but this body wash helps WAY more than baby oil! Once you get to your sweet spot you will start to see a more consistant weight loss.

Hi Brenda! You posted to my blog. Thank you. Do you have a date in Dec? How are you feeling with it all?

You are doing so good, I'm sorry to read about your bump in the road. I've been following your blogs the last few weeks and I'm anxiously watching to see what happens. Good luck, your in my thoughts!

Post op a few days and addicted to food network!
pollywogg commented on nancy_marie_00's blog entry in Blog 100512
I try to stay away from the food network and food scented candles - LOL! I love cooking too! I still cook for my family, only now I only have a small portion which I eat very slowly and actually enjoy much more than I used to. Plus, I enjoy the left overs the next day for lunch and suppers at work. I'm so happy to be eating small portions and feel very satisfied and feminine. Its all good! -
When were you banded? How much have you lost? I would love to be in a size 26! You are doing awesome as long as you are losing! Are you typically a person who sees the glass half full?

I have named my band Daisy for many reasons. First of all the shape of the band and port reminds me of a flower and stem. Second of all I like daisys and I wanted a name for it so I could talk about it secretly with the close family and friends that I have only told about my band.

I feel exactly the same way - very thankful. I don't have access to any support groups and I always wondered what I was missing. I love this site, it keeps me going strong!

Hi there! I was banded July 8th - 3 months ago today. I have had 2 fills and I'm at my sweet spot. I have lost 41 lbs as well . I'm very happy with my decision to get the band!

Great link. A lot of very valuable information and reminders for a new bandster. Being in the medical field I enjoy a higher level of band knowledge and want to learn all I can.

what city and state are you from and what occupation
pollywogg replied to lovemysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Northern Ontario, Canada Paramedic and mother of 2 teenagers. :smile2: -
NSV's - non scale victories! Thank God for them as my scale sucks! I really should buy a better one. Any suggestions? Where do you buy your Whey Protein Isolate? I haven't tried boiled potatoes yet - now I'm scared! LOL!!
-
I think its totally normal to freak out! Its also great that you are doing your research. Every surgery has its complications but you need to remind yourself why you are doing this and decide if its worth it. Some people on here have had problems but most have been successful and LOVE their band. Best of luck!

How long till you were able to lay down and on your side???
pollywogg replied to babyk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a good two weeks till I could lay on my left side but only 5 or 6 days and I could lay on my right. It feels like forever now but it won`t be long! -
The scale has started to move again - at a nice steady pace. I'm SO happy! The nsv's are amazing too. I tried a pair of pants on the other day not expecting them to fit at all and they did! Plus I'm down two pant sizes in my uniform pants as of today! I'm just estatic about my band, its such a great tool. For breakfast because I'm having some hair loss I'm drinking the rest of my protein shakes, but they are coming to an end. What do you put in your breakfast shake?
