Is it acid reflux? Can my band tighten without having a fill?
HEALTHY111 commented on southernb116's blog entry in Blog 96577
Great Job hang in there it will get better the hiatal hernia needs time to heal along with the band. You are doing great. The band would be a little swollen at first that is why the DR waits for the first fill for your swelling to go down and for you to heal somewhat. Congratulations and best wishes on this journey and thanks for sharing. -
I am in Stanislaus County and many of the bandsters have the "Let's Band Together" meetings once a month and the hospital also has weekly educational band meetings - Like Sandradee said check with your physician's staff or the surgery center or hospital you had your procedure done they usually can point you in the right direction. A friend of mine in Fresno had the bypass and said there are several groups in her area for both the band and the bypass. Good Luck!

YESSSSSS! Can't Shop in Woman's World!!!
HEALTHY111 commented on sandradee0124's blog entry in Blog 89559
I agree with the two other posts!! You made me tear up thanks for sharing, I love the good bye lane bryant, etc... I have credit cards to all thos "Big Girl" shops. I am soooo HAPPY for you - YOU GO GIRL!! -
You really are doing great 30lbs in 3 months is great if you lose too fast it can cause health problems, hair loss and vitamin deficiancies. Sometimes slow is the way to go! At least you are losing and if you are exercising you could be gaining muscle which weighs more.

Congrats PM82 on your decision. I can only speak for myself but I am sure many shared the initial jitters but I researched the Lap Band in great detail and talked to many before making the final decision and realize this is the only decision that will get me healthy and happy. It may seem "drastic" to some (friends, family) that don't realize how the tool works but ultimately it was my decision and the best one I could have ever made. Cheers to a longer, healthier, funner, happier life!!

Wow you are doing great! It is a learning situation for all of us and some (like myself) will forget when in conversation or distracted because it is still fairly new and then not chew, chew, chew.

Recipe Of The Day! Rosemary And Garlic Leg Of Lamb
HEALTHY111 commented on Debra G's blog entry in Blog 93702
My mouth is watering allready!! I want it for breakfast.... lol. Thanks Debra for another great recipe - keep them coming I am starting a file in my computer and have already printed a few to try. -
Sounds like you got "stuck" I have always been told to walk during those times and if you can sip a tiny bit but that might come up unfortuneatley. When were you banded and how have you progressed so far? Sounds like you are basically in phase 1 (as I call it) still fairly new at this and learning along the way. I wish you all the best with your new tool it will all be worth it in the end. )

Great Blog I can't wait to see your pics you are changing so much already in a short period of time ) Great job! You are very inspirational. I love the part about the camera isn't that the truth I always have hidden from the camera at family gatherings, childrens bday parties even my own family vacation Oh I might be in one or two if my family insists but usually I am the one on the other end of the camera taking pics because in reality I am too embarassed to be photographed. I can't wait until I get to the point where I will enjoy being in photos with my friends and family!

I love the statement "food has zero calories when you are on vacation!" I will use that to my advantage someday. I am happy that you had a wonderful vacation sometimes we just need a break from everything. The Italian eatery sounds heavenly and it's not like you are going to have the opportunity to eat there often it was a vacation splurge now you are back on the wagon - good for you!

Hi Janet thanks for the message. First off I want to say you look GREAT for 58!! I would have guessed mid to late forties - no kidding! I am so happy for you and the fact that you are healthier now since the Lap Band. I am sooo excited to see changes in my body and my blood pressure was good today 132/83 with no meds. It has been crazy high in the past near stroke! My highest weight was 245 give or take a few but I am fairly short so it was really bad on my everything... knees, back, breathing, blood pressure, self esteem, confindence - you name it ) I am so happy to be on the road to a healthier me I have five children age 3 to 23 (yes you read that correctly) and I would love to do fun stuff instead of sitting on the sidelines of my life. I am on my way back to being me. Thank you for sharing your life with us it is inspirational and encouraging, again THANK U!

Bandiversary Today ~ NOT Dissapointed, NOT Through Yet!
HEALTHY111 commented on janetsjourneytoslim's blog entry in Blog 75574
Happy Bandiversary!! Thank you for sharing those personal feelings that many of feel but sometimes have a hard time putting into words. For me it was like living on the sidelines of MY life, watching it pass me without being able to enjoy it and join in and have fun!! I kept thinking I can lose weight with this diet or that diet and my goal and motto was "Be fit before 40" when that birthday came and passed with minimal change I decided to look into alternatives which led me to the lapband - though I am just in the beginning phases of my journey I feel it is the best decision and no more watching life pass me by I will be 42 next month and I am on my way to being Fit and Fabulous and Fortyish... -
Congratulations and welcome Joanne!! You will find a lot of support, encouragement, friends, ideas and even great recipes on this site. I am glad you joined and chose to share your journey with us. December will be here before you know it. Good Luck.

Great JOB hanging in there and waiting for the insurance requirements to pass! I know of a couple people that wanted it done but thought 6 months was too long to do what the insurance required, I said six months is going to pass anyway so you might as well be on your way to getting the lapband. I wish you all the best with your band.

Great advice from marw and crsti41 it isn't worth the bubbles stretching out your pouch plus you don't really heal for 6-8 weeks maybe longer. I have a friend that has been a couple years out on surgery and now and then she sips a bit of soda but sometimes its ok but at times it really bothers her. I wouldn't try it maybe a sip of cold tea or lemonade just something different than water now and again may help. Good luck!

Alternative to plastic surgery??
HEALTHY111 replied to HEALTHY111's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink!! :scared2:) I too was skeptical at first until I tried the wraps they do work and I use them, and was wanting to share with fellow bandsters because they are awesome. There will always be negative nellies and that is okay - I will save a lot of money using this product!! Personally I do not use this forum to speak negatively and I was trying to help others. -
Congratulations on your new "Birthday" may you have a speedy recovery and much success with your new tool!!

Absolutely Amazing 71lbs in about 3 1/2 months that is great!

Muscle Milk light is fairly good and 20-22 g of protien per drink but a little expensive for premade. A friend told me to try Pure Protien at Trader Joes they are 30g protien per drink and she said the chocolate is good. The GNC powder protien 100% whey is good as well and fairly economical I bought it at Rite Aide for $14 and it makes 14 servings so works out to be about $1 per serving. It is a quick disolving mix so not clumpy and has 20grams protien.

Both Chocolate and wine ARE medicinal Make sure it is DARK chocolate and RED wine and you are good to go! chew, chew, chew and sip, sip, sip )

Sandradee - good for you I am glad you are having a better day than yesterday it sounded excruciating when I read it and I felt so bad for you. We have learned to eat without thinking for so long that it is sometimes hard to "think" about it when we are talking or visiting and otherwise distracted. That is really hard for me to think small bites and chew, chew, chew and NO drinking for an hour after I eat arghhh! I always had a large glass of tea with my dinner/lunch so that is a big deal trying to eat without drinking. Wishing you much continued success!

Almost my 1 month Post op anniversary and nothing
HEALTHY111 commented on Mrs. Stevenson's blog entry in Blog 93350
Mrs. Stevenson - have you been incorporating walking and activities into your schedule?? We have to understand that this is a tool to reduce the intake of food we also have to get up and get active. I am the worst at that and I know that is what slows down my progress so I thought I would share. Wishing you much success on your journey.
