I took the generic Pepcids when I was too tight. You can get them at Walgreens or CVS. I'd take 2, and they're chewable so they went down. Only thing that helped me.

I'll have been banded 2 years in December. I'm dealing with it right now too. I'm so freaking tight, I slime on everything....even tea. I dread taking my pills, I have to take 2 in the morning and 2 before bed too. I've had HORRIBLE heartburn at night. I finally broke down and bought Pepcid and that's the only thing that's helped me. This is my TOM but holy crap it's bad this month.

Burping, All The Time
andrea0121 replied to Kami76065's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone's doctor's orders are different. I was on soft solids 7 days out of surgery - per my surgeon. -
Nothing like being in a meeting and having it get all velociraptor on me.

Spaghetti Squash- Band Friendly
andrea0121 replied to Passionatehrt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did some more snooping, and I think this recipe is pretty darn close to the one I've been looking for. I would use cracker crumbs instead of bread cubes though, might lower the calories as well. I'm going to try it out this week! http://allrecipes.com/recipe/spaghetti-squash-casserole/detail.aspx?lnkid=ARPinIt -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
andrea0121 replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey ladies!! Well, since my last post in February, I have lost 17lbs!! That last fill has done the trick for me and I'm over my plateau. That's seriously the most I've lost all in one go since getting my band. Carol ann, congrats on being cancer free!!! (my mom's name is carol ann  ) -
Spaghetti Squash- Band Friendly
andrea0121 replied to Passionatehrt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
An ex's mom used to make this really thin casserole with spaghetti squash. It was like a crusted parmesean topping with the spaghetti squash and something else as the bottom layer. OMG it was fantastic, if I didn't despise my ex-bf I'd totally hit him up for the recipe. I haven't found anything close to it since then. -
Honestly? The surgery is very quick. The only thing a lot of us have trouble with is the gas/air they use to fill us up for laparoscopic surgery. Recovery itself isn't horribly bad either. Just sore. You've had a long road to get to the point you're at, so I would say a big congrats is in order!! You'll be happy with your decision!

Welp. Tried a plain, no bun all beef hotdog last night. Nope. That sucker killed me for about 4 hours until I finally had to bring it up. I had bad heartburn all night and woke up with it STILL in my pouch. Sucker would not go down. Check that off the list. Yuck.

I Am So Beyond Frustrated...
andrea0121 replied to MandiMand's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well crap, lol. Don't get discouraged!!! Any loss to me is a good loss, no matter how long it took me to get there. I know for a fact if I hadn't have had the surgery I would have put on at least another 30 lbs. -
I Am So Beyond Frustrated...
andrea0121 replied to MandiMand's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I've lost 65lbs. It's taken me 15 months to get to this point and I have at least another 60 to go. I'm a slower loser (I have no thyroid and have PCOS) so don't go by my story, plus it took me forever to get to restriction. -
Why is that we all drank diet sodas and we were still heavy?? I think the artificial sweetner in them makes it worse for us. I digress.... I drank Dr Pepper like nobody's business before surgery. I quit about 3 months before surgery and haven't looked back. I tried a cream soda once, my boyfriend brought home this yummy looking old fashioned bottle of them and I had to try it. Yeah, no. Hurt like hell. I also do the sweet tea or Water, can't say I miss it at all now. A cold glass of water is so much more refreshing.

I Am So Beyond Frustrated...
andrea0121 replied to MandiMand's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You guys, it took me 6 fills and 8.2 cc's in a 9 cc band for me to feel restriction. I'm actually going Friday to get a little bit taken out because it's too much, but still...it took 13 months to get to that place. Don't get frustrated, you'll get there! -
I won't know myself until Friday as that will be my first unfill, but I would like to think that I won't be hungry as I'll be able to eat proper foods. Cold drinks are hard for me to get down too and I know that that just isn't right. I think though, that they want you on a day or 2 of liquids, probably, just like when you have a fill. That way you're not irritating your band? Maybe someone can confirm for us. Good luck with your unfill, can't wait till I get mine!
-
My last fill was Feb 27th and it's definitely too tight (for me). I PB on liquids for most of the day. I would like to keep it tighter (like B 52 has stated) but I don't think I should be THIS tight. I made an appt for this Friday to get a tad taken out. In 15 months, I have yet to have this problem. Granted, I've lost 14 lbs in 5 weeks which is more than I've lost in one sitting since last summer, but it's too uncomfortable. I've been slacking on taking my thyroid pills because I PB on those too and they're TINY. I would play it by ear and take it slow for a couple of days, but if you're going on a couple weeks of this (trust me it sucks) I would maybe weigh your options and perhaps get a tiny bit taken out. Good luck and keep us posted!

I'm pretty sure I want Georgia Girl to be my chef. I'm far too lazy and not innovative enough to make some of the stuff she makes. lisa, go to amazon and order it from there, I just bought a 16 oz bag of it because the last time I got the little tub of it my BF ate it all! -

Scared To Eat Real Food Again...
andrea0121 replied to Jenelle1434's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I could do salad for a year after my surgery, but now that I'm tight - salad is a no go. It's pretty much a learning curve. You try food and you see whether or not your band can tolerate it. I would love to have a nice greek salad right now, so you try one for me. -
I fluctuate bad too. Yet I still torture myself with a daily weigh-in.

Not Experiencing What Most Banders Experience
andrea0121 replied to AngieKardash's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded in Dec 2010 and just recently (with the last 2 fills) have experienced the PB'ing and sliming. I agree with everyone who has said you're still in early stages. Some people have completely with restriction with little to no fill, the majority of us need multiple fills. Good luck!!
