  1. steveelea thank you so much for the words of encouragement, I really do need it now. I know what you mean about putting off the inevitable. I too had thoughts about just seeing how I did for a while on the rerstriction that I had, but my surgeon was adamant about me getting it fixed now.

cshylton sorry you still have not had a fill yet, hopefully you will soon. I had not heard of a Seroma.

Dr Provost is aware money is a real issue for me, he is waving his fee for the surgery, but the hospital of course is not. So I will have the hospital fee, just glad they are not making me pay anything up front. I go this morning for my pre-op visit & to pre-register at the hospital to find out what time my surgery is tomorrow. Wish me luck! :)

I wish you the best of luck!

  2. Hey Sherry

I had a Seroma around my port that they had to drain, but it did take a few visits over time for them to get most of the Fluid out.

My Dr explained it to me in this way: He said it is a liquid bruise that can develop after surgery, that takes time to go down and sometimes they have to drain Fluid, but that it should go down in time. I think from memory he said around 6 weeks. I was told that it does happen and they do see it. It's not overley common but it does happen and it's not usualy an issue.

I am sure that your dr will be able to drain some more fluid soon and then hopefully they will be able to give you a fill.

Keep up the fantastic work, you are going so well on your own....way to go what a great start :)

Thank you for your reply it has been drained twice and my stomach is still swollen thats why he wanted to wait a month to try it again. I feel like the band is not there. I can eat anything i want i am so worried that i eat too much because i forget about the band and cause more problems with it. I am walking on the threadmill and holding a heating pad on it at night but the knot is still there i dont know what else to do!

  4. Hi,

I went in on June 3rd for my first fill. My Dr. had no problem finding the port. The problem was the needle wouldn't go in.

He told me i had Fluid around the port. He drained it. and said he would try again in 2 weeks. I have noticed my left side is bigger than the right.

He said this hardly ever happens so i left wondering . What caused this? What does it mean?

I had only lost 12 lbs at the time which was my 4 week post-op and i could tell he thought i should have lost more.

I am 5 weeks post-op now and have lost 16 lbs. since surgery day.I am so worried something is wrong i go back on the 17th.Has anyone else had this to happen? I have another week to worry. Please anyone know!

  5. I had a single incision surgery, and it is in my belly button. It was a bit uncomfortable at first to wear jeans, but I'm really glad they did it. I will have a tiny scar tucked into my belly button when it's completely healed. I fully recommend it!

Mine too is in the bellybutton. The only scare i have is the 3 inch one hidden in my naval and one that looks like a tiny bruise under my breast. The only problem i have with that is i have to push all my clothes below it because its still sore.

  7. Thanks you for reply

I have been feeling better the last 2 days. I dont know if its where my DR. drained the port but the swelling in my stomach is going down . It still hurts a little when i excercise but i thought maybe that was normal.

I will know on the 17th hopefully all the Fluid is gone and i will get a fill then.

    wish you the best

  8. Hi everyone,

I am new here. I was band on May5,2010. On June3rd was my first Drs visit which did not go good. First of all i only lost 12 lbs. in 4 weeks. Then when my Dr. tried to do a fill he hit the port but the needle would not go in. He tried several times. He said i had Fluid around the port. He drained it. He said he would try again in two weeks.

I had lung problems after surgery and was on and off oxgen for 6 days.I was on steroids six days after i got out. I have allergies bad and thought i had gotten over a sinus and upper resp. infection a week before surgery.I didnt tell my Dr about it i didnt think it was important. My stomach is not as swollen and sore after he drained it. I am eating the right things walking on my thredmill everyday.

My Question is have any of you had this problem? I have never heard of it. Is it something i did wrong after surgery? Any advise welcomed!
