Hey SherryI had a Seroma around my port that they had to drain, but it did take a few visits over time for them to get most of the Fluid out.
My Dr explained it to me in this way: He said it is a liquid bruise that can develop after surgery, that takes time to go down and sometimes they have to drain Fluid, but that it should go down in time. I think from memory he said around 6 weeks. I was told that it does happen and they do see it. It's not overley common but it does happen and it's not usualy an issue.
I am sure that your dr will be able to drain some more fluid soon and then hopefully they will be able to give you a fill.
Keep up the fantastic work, you are going so well on your own....way to go what a great start
Thank you for your reply it has been drained twice and my stomach is still swollen thats why he wanted to wait a month to try it again. I feel like the band is not there. I can eat anything i want i am so worried that i eat too much because i forget about the band and cause more problems with it. I am walking on the threadmill and holding a heating pad on it at night but the knot is still there i dont know what else to do!

Hi,
I went in on June 3rd for my first fill. My Dr. had no problem finding the port. The problem was the needle wouldn't go in.
He told me i had Fluid around the port. He drained it. and said he would try again in 2 weeks. I have noticed my left side is bigger than the right.
He said this hardly ever happens so i left wondering . What caused this? What does it mean?
I had only lost 12 lbs at the time which was my 4 week post-op and i could tell he thought i should have lost more.
I am 5 weeks post-op now and have lost 16 lbs. since surgery day.I am so worried something is wrong i go back on the 17th.Has anyone else had this to happen? I have another week to worry. Please anyone know!

I had the single incision on May 5th. My Dr. also used the glue. It looks nasty until you start healing and the glue starts washing off.

I had a single incision surgery, and it is in my belly button. It was a bit uncomfortable at first to wear jeans, but I'm really glad they did it. I will have a tiny scar tucked into my belly button when it's completely healed. I fully recommend it!Mine too is in the bellybutton. The only scare i have is the 3 inch one hidden in my naval and one that looks like a tiny bruise under my breast. The only problem i have with that is i have to push all my clothes below it because its still sore.

I laid on a table with a pillow under the bend of my back. Arms over my head. The dr had no problem finding the port he hit it the first time. The needle just would not go in it.Because of the Fluid.
I am still sore and a little swollen. I dont know if thats normal at 4 weeks or more Fluid.< /span>

I have been feeling better the last 2 days. I dont know if its where my DR. drained the port but the swelling in my stomach is going down . It still hurts a little when i excercise but i thought maybe that was normal.
I will know on the 17th hopefully all the Fluid is gone and i will get a fill then.
wish you the best

Hi everyone,
I am new here. I was band on May5,2010. On June3rd was my first Drs visit which did not go good. First of all i only lost 12 lbs. in 4 weeks. Then when my Dr. tried to do a fill he hit the port but the needle would not go in. He tried several times. He said i had Fluid around the port. He drained it. He said he would try again in two weeks.
I had lung problems after surgery and was on and off oxgen for 6 days.I was on steroids six days after i got out. I have allergies bad and thought i had gotten over a sinus and upper resp. infection a week before surgery.I didnt tell my Dr about it i didnt think it was important. My stomach is not as swollen and sore after he drained it. I am eating the right things walking on my thredmill everyday.
My Question is have any of you had this problem? I have never heard of it. Is it something i did wrong after surgery? Any advise welcomed!
