Try using myfitnesspal.com or the app to log what you eat. Been a real eye opener!

I Don't Want To Tell Anyone I'm Considering Lapband
paula2468 replied to momof02's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I only told close friends and family but once I lost about 40 lbs everyone wanted to know my secret so I decided to let the cat out of the bag. So many people were supportive! -
Have you asked your doctor if it could be something else? I had a similar spell but never had to be hospitalized that is awful. About 50 doctor visits and a GI specialist and I had a 2nd hiatal hernia repair and my gallbladder removed. Gained about 25 of my 65 lost back but finally eating and not throwing up. I just couldn't take it any more so I went for another check and glad I did. Gallbladder issues are so common it's worth he king into if you haven't. Good luck!

It's a mental game, you could reset by doing pre op diet for 3 days. I also had to restart, I did the Shakeoogy cleanse for 3 days to jump start. Honestly the last 2 weeks I've finally been feeling good since!

The appointment wait is just nuts and yes never see the doctor besides surgery. I really enjoy the nurse though. Does your hubby's dr take on patients from other surgeons? I moved and was trying to find a new aftercare dr but no one would take me

I should clarify I flew 30+ times in a year so it's definitely not fear. The dr says its the pressure and very common, just to stick to liquids/mushies to be safe on travel days. I also went in a cruise and was much more susceptible to motion sickness than before the band. Some things just have to be figured out as we go, but still worth it!

I went through this for almost a year. Fluid in, fluid out. All the co-pays were expensive, so I ended up having my hiatal hernia repaired in Feb (was done during surgery 5/2010). I felt good for about a month, then came the symptoms again! I decided to go to a different Dr and low and behold, 4 tests and a few months later in Sept I had my gallbladder removed. I have never felt so lethargic, I just knew it was something! I feel so much better now just 7 weeks later it's amazing. I hope you find some relief, the puking/reflux/fatigue really started to extinguish my motivation and social life. Amazing what our bodies can take!

I get right when I fly, your whole body swells so discomfort in understood. I'd day eat before and never have any solids up until I landed.

Looking For Advice...i'm Too New On My Journey To Be Having These Troubles Already...
paula2468 replied to libra8302's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had the opposite problem, I can't get to the green zone because every time hit 5cc I'm so sick. A second hiatial hernia repair in Feb then gallbladder out in Sept. Hoping that will help. Do you do liquid diet after fill? Also I tried to change docs and they are giving me a hard time. Don't seem to want to step on my surgeons toes, just a heads up if it happens to you. Hopefully you get to the green zone and kudos on the weight loss. That's a lot! -
I guess gallbladder problems are very common. I knew something big was wrong when I just couldn't get enough sleep. The other symptoms were all something too but I never was a sleeper!
-
Before you decide to have the band removed I'd ask your DR for a GI referral. They should check your gallbladder and maybe your esophageal motility. For some of us motility is an issue. Could be so many things hope they get you feeling better soon!
-
Sorry meant DR! Silly typo... Have you gotten unfilled at all lately? I went through fills unfills for about 6 mos, thus was to try to get the irritation to go away but eventually after that didn't work I had to get another opinion. That's when I saw the GI. Good luck to you I hope you get answers!

Have Fallen So Far Off The Wagon. Can I Get Back On?
paula2468 replied to Media_Girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I also had a setback, started back to the gym this week and need to start eating like I was before. 70lbs done and gained back 20 over the last 6 months. It's very defeating but at least we have the tools and know we can do it! Hope you get back in the game! -
Thanks maybe I will try that. A shame to be stuck with 1 doc if you aren't satisfied! Guess they don't wanna step on each other's toes either.

I took the prescription anti nausea, the Gasx strips and this last time I wore the Sea Bands. The are just wrist bands that work, well Sit on your wrist pressure points. Moving every hour for 5 mins will help too even though it doesn't seem it, good luck!

Did you find a surgeon? If not message me and I'll give you details!

I used Dr Duncan through the Real Results office in Dunwoody. What are your thoughts on aftercare?

Harder Than I Thought
paula2468 replied to MumtoJackson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You just had your body wiggled, snipped and jiggled all over. I took the pain meds from doc for the 1st week and tried to sleep a lot. Getting up hourly and walking for 5 mins along with gasx strips should alleviate the gas pains but the pain just takes meds and time. Good luck. -
I ended up emptying my band and then after months of testing having my gallbladder removed. Be sure they investigate, my band DE did not so I went to the GI doc.
-
I had similar problems for months, X-rays, barium swallow... Still nothing. I ended up having to have my band emptied and after a CT and Hida scan they realized it was my gallbladder. Bad thing is now I'm feeling very defeated by my band. Up 25 lbs since last year, finally keeping food down but feeling bad about the weight gain. Any tips to get back in the game?

November 2010 Bandsters - post op
paula2468 replied to DebWS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hit my year mark and am struggling with a plateau too. Just keep trying to change up my workout until I see the numbers move. Anyone have any luck breaking through a 3 month plateau?
