Just thought I would chime in real quick. You're going to hit a few pleatu's during your weight loss journey. Just accept it. You will have some weeks that are great weeks - you'll lose a lot and then your body will adjust and you'll have one, two maybe even three weeks where you hover around 1-2 pounds. This happens - it's normal. I am about 50-weeks post op and down 80 lbs. My most successfull period is the first 6-months. After that I have had to work hard for each pound I lost - but it's all worth it. Keep to the rules - stay focused - stay healthy and you will be fine. Remember it's a journey not a race.

Do you wish you would've had Gastric Bypass instead?
Banded Rob replied to amberakamom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgeon was supportive of either surgery I wanted. I wanted the LapBand and for me it was the best choice. I was scared of the GB and just did not want to take on the issues other GB patients had to deal with, like dumping. Even thought getting stuck is not a real pleasure either. I had a BMI around 44 before the surgery. In the 6-months since my surgery 05/03/10..... Type 2 Diabeties - Gone High Blood Pressure -Gone Reflux Disease - Gone sleep Apnea - Gone Joint Paint - Gone 70 lbs to date - Gone Living a healthier longer life because of my LapBand - No Regrets! -
Self Perception Issues?? Anyone??

Congratulations on your weight loss. Fantastic job! I was banded on 05/06/2010 and have lost 65 lbs to date. I'm a guy so it probably drops faster than it does for women. I'm working out 5-6 days a week, I'm told I am looking pretty fit. I see pictures of myself and I don't shy away from the camera as much as I did before I've lost the weight. But, put me in front of a mirror in the bathroom and I still see the fat guy in me. I know I am more healthier than ever, I feel fantastic. But, put me in front of a mirror in the bathroom and I see the fat guy in me still. Many ask me if I am going to lose any more weight, I tell them that I hope to lose a bit more, I have not hit my target weight. Most are amazed that I still want to lose more, I just tell them that clothes hide alot. I understand where your coming from. I am still in my 'honeymoon' phase of my journey. I hope with some time I'll start to feel better about my physical appearance as much as I feel great on the inside. -

Thanks. I took the before and after picture in front of the Harley Davidson Cafe in Las Vegas on the Boulevard. I just thought it would be a hoot to take the second picture since I had only one before picture. I hope to go back in a few more months and take another one to see my progress. Thanks again!

What do you eat for breakfast everyday?
Banded Rob replied to spoiltmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Most days M-F I have a hard-boiled egg, oatmeal, and a nice hunking cup of coffee. If I happen to still be hungry I'll add 1/2 a piece of fruit such as a banana. On the weekends I love to make egg beater omelets, I usually add some smoked gouda, cheddar, and swiss cheese, chopped-up chicken breast or spinach, some salsa, and a dab of sour cream and slice of avocado atop. Sometimes to change things up, I will have Breakfast for dinner. On rare ocassions I'll allow myself some huevos rancheros (that is always a special treat) ummm mmmm good. -
I did not give it a lot of thought before the surgery. The day of the surgery when I went in to the pre op area to be prepared - they did it for me. They shaved me completely from right below the pecs to a few inches below the belly button. It was a bit embarassing having them do it - if I had really thought about it before the surgery, I would have preferred to shave it all myself. I hope this helps.

I take chewable vitamins I purchase from Bariatric Advantage. They are pretty easy for me to get down.

My first response, whoo hooo! I am down about 24lbs since my surgery date of 5/3/2010. It's not been easy but well worth it. I am off all the medication I was taken before the surgery, and I feel better than I have in years. Congrats on your success, I wish you many more. Welcome to the losers bench!
