I have been over weight all of my life.  When I was younger it didn't really matter because I played sports.  I knew that in the winter I would gain weight but as soon as spring training started I would take the weight off.  I stopped playing sports and being active but I didn't stop eating.  If anything my eating habits got worse.  Add a husband, kids, and working full-time to the mix and it just didn't get any better.  Years of on and off one diet or another gets old.  I started doing genealogy research and discovered that my family has a history of dying of heart disease.  My great-grandmother died at the age of 42 of heart disease.  This was a wake up call for me.  I have two beautiful daughters, the youngest in third grade and I wanted to be around for them.  I decided to have Lap Band surgery.  It has been two months since the surgery and I have already lost 37 pounds.  I am just taking it one day at a time.
