I would like to organize a dinner date either before or after the next support meeting on 4/11 at Kettering Bariatrics. How about Applebee's on 741 just north of the Dayton Mall, or O'Charley's just east of the Dayton Mall, or Ruby Tuesday's just inside the north/east wing of the Dayton Mall ? If not dinner, what about a drink after ? Let me know by either PM or email or phone. Looking forward to seeing you all ! Thanks,

Kettering Support Meeting 4/11
OHraintreeacres replied to OHraintreeacres's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
GREAT !! Applebee's on the west side of 741 just north of the 725 Dayton Mall main intersection traffic light at 5pm. That should give us enough time to eat slowly & talk too !! If you need to be late, that's okay ! I'll be there early to ask for a table close to the front door so we will be able to see anyone coming in and we'll be there until around 6:45p. French onion Soup is delicious ! Oh, we are suppose to be eating to live and not living to eat....:clap2: I FORGOT ! LOL Everybody is welcome and I am looking forward to seeing you ! -
What a great turnout for the support meeting in Miamisburg last evening ! Lots of LapBanders,(post and pre-op), as well as RNY ! I had a really good time meeting with BabyBoomer, Barbara, ButterflyLover, Anne, and RosieG, Rosie. It was really nice to meet such nice ladies ! Afterward, Barbara and I went to Applebee's for dinner. She is absolutely a doll !! We thought that maybe there might be some others that would like to meet afterwards next month with us. Keep it in mind, or we could even meet early before the support group meeting ! Again, it was so nice to meet with you all. Until later, Carolyn

Hi Anne, Glad you found your way here to the Ohio group. Dr. Schumacher has quite a few patients on here. I mailed you an email to your address, however, have not heard back from you. Gas pains were the most painful, however, a small price to pay for the benefits that await you with lap band surgery !! I am so thrilled to have had it done and am soooo excited about the future of losing the pounds !! I am at over 3 weeks post op and will have my first fill on March 9. I will email you again and hope you get it. Talk with you later. -
Butterflylover, Anne, I can be found in the Local Lap-Band Support, USA Local Ohio Group. I have sent you a personal email and a private message. Looking forward to talking with you. Carolyn

I know of O'Charley's on 741 just north of the Dayton Mall and Ruby Tuesday's inside the Dayton Mall. There are plenty of fast food joints all around the Mall area. These are just suggestions right off hand. Hope this helps. -

I am so sorry for your situation. What a bummer ! I truly hope that the insurance company gets their "shit" together ASAP so you can go on with your surgery. It is definitely worth the wait, but, insurance companies have us by the balls and we have no recourse but to wait on them ! Thinking of you. -
Again, welcome to southwest Ohio ! Your input on this forum will be greatly appreciated by all of us.

I am doing fantastic ! Feeling better than "normal" and am soooo happy that it is done. Thank you, everybody, for your well wishes ! I truly appreciated the kind thoughts from you all who have already gone through this. Isn't this GREAT ?!!!!! DiscoDiva & Daughter, RosieG you all will have no problems. Dr. Schu is absolutly the best ! It is so worth any gas pains you might experience. I didn't walk as much as I should have, so I used the Gas-X cherry creme chewables. It worked for me. Paige, I would very much like to meet you all for lunch on March 5 ! I think it would be fun. Nurse Teresa can you make it ?? Baby Boomer, Barbara, is really busy with Heart month and has let me know she is doing fine. Talk w/ya later......until then.....take care. -

BabyBoomer........You are missed ! Are you doing okay ? -
9 days post-op........Thanks to the Gas-X for saving my life !! I am finally on the road to recovery. From reading on this forum, I have cut my pills for easier consumption, swallowing the smallest of my capsules, using chewables & liquids when available and eating the smallest amounts of liquids continuously instead of trying to put them into 3 meals a day. I now have my strength back and not shaking or as not quite as weak as before. When you stop & think, as someone else has said in the thread about how you have deprived your body cold turkey of all the food intake before the surgery and being a "senior citizen", Damn, it's a wonder my body even speaks to me anymore. I'm no spring chicken and had stopped cold turkey on my prescibed meds, which I never never should have done. I literally was nuts as well as weak. You have to use some good old common sense and listen to what your body tells you ! This forum has been an absolute life saver to me and I want to sincerely thank you all for all the good advice. From the bottom of my heart and big SINCERE THANK YOU !

I have only had few minor burps, however, I do think that the Prevacid SoluTabs, 1 daily, is taking care of that. This was a prescription by my surgeon upon my release from the hospital. The cherry creme chewable Gas-X tabs are really taking care of the gas pain in my shoulder. Thank you so much to MICHELLE & JILL for their truly appreciated advice ! . I also forgot to make arrangements for my slew of daily prescribed meds to be changed to either liquid or chewables, so going cold turkey has make me so weak.:faint: I can't believe I am really getting this senile ! I'm still on only clear liquids, but, tried a little applesauce today and it great ! We'll stay in touch..........10/31 banders ! Until later.........take care everybody.....

I have had some minor complications, all my fault. Forgot about Gas-X for shoulder gas pain ! Withdrawals have about killed me from caffeine, nicotine & food. So preoccupied with staying on a clear liquid diet that I totally forgot to arrange in advance how to take my slew of daily prescribed meds, so, have gone cold turkey from them and have certainly felt the effects. :sick Finally figured out why I am so unbelievably weak :faint:and Tues. will do something about it with a few phone calls. duh ! Can't believe I am that stupid !! I am about to lose my happy home if I don't "fix" things ASAP. Hope to have things back in order shortly and will let you know. I hope everyone is doing okay and the lunch meeting went good. Wish I could have been there. Until later.......Best wishes to All.......... -
I'm having terrible left shoulder pain since surgery. It sometimes takes my breath away. Incisions are doing great, sleeping on both sides. I am so very weak and shaky, possible due to lack of caffeine,(coke), nicotine,(cigarettes), and solid food ! Am following clear liquid diet for this week. Anybody else experience this ? Thanks, Carolyn

Hello to All, I am a 60 year old widow of 4 years, after a 36 year marriage. My 2 sons are married with 2 children each. My daughter is single and likes it that way. We have a very close family. I have been heavy on and off all my life. I can lose the weight, but, have always gained it back and more. I have a younger "gentleman friend" in my life and I want to be able to do things, like walking through the woods or go shopping with him without huffing, puffing, and getting so tired. My bones & joints "ain't" what they use to be and I know that it is time to start taking better care of my body if I want to live with a good quality of life. I am young at heart and there is so much more I want to experience that now is the time. Next Wed. the 31st I will be banded and will start a new phase of my life. Am sooo looking forward to this new adventure ! My motto is.......... Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well perserved body, BUT RATHER, to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand and wine in the other, body thoroughly used up totally worn out and screaming.......Woo Hoo, DAMN WHAT A RIDE !!! -

I am very excited, looking forward to getting this done and starting the next phase of my life. I would enjoy meeting on the 5th, but, am such a "night person" and will take a raincheck and meet with you all for dinner some evening at Bob Evans at 75 & 725. It would be fun to exchange ideas and laugh about experiences being "fat" !! LOL I think of you all & hope that everyone is doing good with their new life. -

Impersons, Lisa....... Mine will also probably be the first week of Feb. Dr. has received the approval from Anthem. They called me to schedule a cardiac stress test with my cardiologist, (next Tues.), and my medical history appt. w/Dr. Schumacher next Thurs. So, we take it step by step ! It will happen soon. I am anxious and excited, but, would like to make sure all is going correctly. Baby Boomer, Barbara......... Hope all is well with you and can't wait to meet you. linadu, Lisann......... I enjoy your posts ! You are really doing great w/your weight loss. :clap2: To all in Ohio.......... Can't wait to meet sometime to discuss and maybe cuss ! -

This is interesting ! Check out the times of postings. We must be all "night people" ! LOL I have been a "night person" for the past 43 years. I have worked as a secretary in an ER and as a police/sheriff's dispatcher on midnights because they always needed "night owls". I have done extensive research into body clocks, working shift work, and some of us were just made to be alert at night. Both my parents are up late and sleep late. (Retired RN & retired LEO) Just thought I would throw out that observation ! -

OHraintreeacres replied to linadu's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi All, Called Anthem today & found out that I have been approved for surgery!! YEAH!!!! So, guess my next step is for the pre-surgery doctor's appointment. Will let you know when that will be scheduled. I am already a very slow eater,a thorough chewer, however, will have to work on the size of the bites and pay attention to what I am doing instead of either talking or watching tv ! My biggest obstacle will be NO MORE COKES ! That is where alot of my weight is coming from in the first place. I was raised on pop and between the Cola and cigarettes, I wonder if there is life after quitting both ? :heh: I'm not quitting smoking just yet, thought I might take on one challenge at a time ? I do hope to attend the support group as I would think it would most definitely be beneficial if for nothing more than psychological. This endeavor is more than a minor adjustment in all of our lives. Glad to have companionship from this board. Until later.......... Congratulations on your 40th ! Been there, done that. The best is yet to come.......trust me.....it really is ! Enjoy each day because it does get easier from now on !
