Has this happened to anyone else?

My friend and I had the surgery the same week....we are the same height...and I weighed 4 lbs more than her when we started. She has lost 20 more pounds than I have...and I exercise 3x as much as she does. I am not dropping inches really I started at a size 22 now i am in a very loose 16. I just think there might be something to this eating more thing.

    Cost of Fills

Question: I was banded in October and my insurance paid for it...I have had 2 fills (the last one this past Thursday) I just got a letter from my INS company that they are dropping my coverage (long story) and now I am going to have to pay for fills myself. I havn't got to call the DR's office to find out how much it will cost and It's driving me bananas not knowing what I am in for. So my question would be does anyone pay for their fills? And if so about how much do they cost. I know it will probably vary by state I am in NY but just want an idea. Thanks in advance, I am hoping I will feel better once I know.
  3. Actually my food bill has went up by like 50.00 a week. Reason being...I am now buying ALOT more fruits and veggies...fresh fish (never ate it before band) yogurts, egg beaters...etc I could go on and on but you know what it makes me kinda sick that you have to pay more $$$ to be healthy than not. Chips: 1-2.00 Fresh Veggie Platter: 5-7.00 Cookies 2-3.00 Fresh Fruit: 4-6.00 Soda - 1-2.00 Crystal Light 5.00+ Ice Cream - 2.00+ sugar free Ice Pops: 4.00+ NO WONDER THE WORLD IS OBESE!!!! JUST MY OPINION LOL

    Caffeine-Yes or NO

I drink coffee every day...my nutritionist said there was no problems with it. Mind you I only have about 1-2 cups a day with skim milk and artificial sweetener. I go by what they told me that it's ok...just no carbonated beverages.

    Random thought...

After my surgery I had liquid Tylenol w/ codeine....not that bad when you "sip" it I just held my nose LOL.
  6. Just thought I would start a thread to compare weight loss since my October 18th surgery. My questions are: When in October was your surgery? How much weight have you lost so far? How many fills have you had? How much/what type of exercise are you doing? I think it will be fun to see the results of how we October bandsters are doing! My Info: Surgery Date: October 18, 2006 Including the pre-liquid diet I am down 36 lbs I have Had 1 Fill so far, I go for my second on January 18th I am walking about 4 miles a day for now

    Lean Cuisines?

I was just wondering how many people on this board can eat lean cuisines? I am tired of mixing up food/cooking/preparing etc. I am thinking about doing LC for lunch and dinner? Can anyone get them down...had success?
  8. I get a numbing needle first, the doc waits about 5 min while he gets the barium for me to swallow. My doc does it under floroscopy so I get to watch the whole thing (VERY COOL) I can see/feel the tightening and when we agree it's a good restriction thats that. The numbing needle is like a little bee sting doesn't hurt much, the only thing I feel is a little pressure when he reaches the port.

    six month band anniversary

WAY TO GO!!! Your doing great!
  10. Oh I didn't get to see it can you brief us?
  11. Oh my heart breaks for you! As the "fat" kid my whole life as well I can remember going clothes shopping with friends and lying I had no money to buy clothes just to hide the fact that nothing came in my size in the stores they shopped in. I remember being 12 years old and weighing 200 lbs and being called a whale by my twin sister. I too was very active played 3 sports a year etc etc. I can remember as far back as 5 or 6 having my moms friends comment on how i was built like a brick sh*t house...not exactly what a 5 year old needs to hear. My only advise I can give is maybe to join Weight Watchers together as she unfortunetly is too young for the band. By a walking tape like walk away the pounds and do it together. I wish my mom had helped me when I was young...I probably was at the weight I was at before my banding because no one ever admitted I had a weight problem. I can only suggest you do this together because having someone support you makes such a difference. CHANGE DOCTORS....suicide is SERIOUS!!!!! Any professional who brushes that off is completely out of line. When we are that unhappy about our bodies/image depression follows suit. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and I hope you (and the rest of your family) can pull through this and give your baby girl the support she needs.

It was the Right Choice for me!!

Ok so I am now in tears reading this letter. What courage you have...I just took the opposite approach and said this is my life I don't care if no one else (family wise) will support me it's something I am doing. I Congratulate you on your success!

My Very First Fill After 11 Months Post-op

I would ask your doctor what he thinks and let him make the call. CONGRATS on your band baby!
  14. I am 3 months post op, and I have only lost 20 lbs (according to my weight on the day of surgery not counting the pre-liquid diet). I am getting my second fill on thursday, I hope this kicks my weight loss a bit as it's been 3 weeks w/o any weight loss. My question is did anyone else lose 100 lbs but it took a while?
  15. Naked as a Jay Bird!!!! (After i get up and pee of course) LOL

    Fill Question.....

I learned last night at my support group meeting that my Dr. Does his fills himself in the hospital under floroscopy, in radiology.... My question is for everyone who has received a fill.... Do you think the Doctor can adjust the band better under floroscopy or not. Either way how many fills have you received? Thanks!

why am i losing sooo slowly?

I was banded October 18, 2006 and have only lost 11 lbs since surgery (one month today) I went to my support group yesterday and asked the same question...everyone says once you get your first fill, you will notice that you lose weight more quickly...good luck!:peep:

No weight loss because I eat too much

I am going through the same thing right now but I havn't gotten a fill yet...I lost 14 lbs pre-op and another 11 post op but that has been it. I have just been totally watching what I am eating like the band isn't even in there. I WAS drinking with the band but It pushes the food through so I was not full as long, since I have stopped drinking while eating I notice I am definetly a lot fuller longer, maybe you just need to cut out the drinking with meals I know it is hard, but you have come so far, this can be an easy "habit" to break...hang in there this is in us for the rest of our lives the weight will come off.
