Hi all! I too did not make my goal this week, We can all try again next week. I did do .3 miles yesterday, I decided to get really ocd and take my handheld gps out (that's what I do for a living is gps stuff) anyway it was fun cause it gave me my exact miles per hour. those cheapy garmin hand helds are fun, I forget that- ha ha- something for the dork in everyone I guess. Anyway today Iam walking with my family for a half hour, have it on the schedule. I have one more week till I can do real excercise and I"m also giving that time till I push my speed up from that of a snail to a regular average type person- ha ha. Miss Joanie- that is a drag about the incision- we all need to remember that we are still healing from surgery, which is a big deal, and not to get to gung hoe. sourmissg- walking the dog is a great way, better then the treadmill maybe cause you get fresh air and sun on your face is DH your partner or kid. Sorry if you've already said this before, my memory is still shot from the surgery I swear. have a great sunday everyone- today I start pureed food- mmmm -

on the topic of being super weak and tired. One thing to know is that as you add more food it will get better. I don't know where you all are on your post op- protein is an important start- but there are other things that can make you feel tired too. some protein drinks are like only protein, and not all the rest. are you sure about your amount of iron, and your amount of b and c and calcium? Also your calories, if you are on something other then food right now make sure you are getting at least 1200 calories a day. This is actually very low, and maybe up it a bit, especially if you are over 220 lbs- maybe like 17000. these are just some ideas. good luck, it will get better as you add food. -

I like it Zen!!! excellent advice. First off and this is likely to be not something you want to do, but I personally would love to see the information about a lot of people dying from the lap band. tell them you have a friend that's very interested in the topic and give them my email. 1.lisa.king@gmail. i really don't believe it, but if it is true I'd be intrestedl 2. Its possible you are tight because you are stressed, I've read that before - also, I've seen docs that after a fill want you to do liquids for a day cause you are swollen and potential for irritation, You could try to do just broth and teas etc. for a meal and then up it to protin shake and yogurt for a meal, and then softer food- just to ease in. 3. I think about thanks giving a lot. My family doesn't know also. I don't know what the canada meal looks like- but here we always have turkey, which is doable. - so my family aren't big on salad at thanksgiving, but I said that I was going to make a green salad, and bring my own dressing, I believe a plate can look pretty full with a fluffy salad, and turkey, and maybe a bit of carbs, and just say yeah I'm on a diet. end of story. if the people that are against it notice and say something I like zens idea, or just like repeat yourself. you could also volunteer to bring some fruit salad, or a low cal desert- My family does not make good food choices, especially on the holidays, so anything besides they turkey that is not loaded with fat I will have to bring. well we are all entering holiday season- cheers, good luck. I just went too a birthday party and sucked on a pepperonis or two and spit them out- ended up not getting any dinner till 6:30 was about to pass out, I should have brought a protein shake but again no one there knows. 2. -

well I did 1 mile today, pretty slow. I know when I do a a mile or what not cause i drove my circuit with villually seeing where .5 miles is, so I walk .5 out and .5 back, that way I can time myself. I know it's kinda ocd. grace I used to do curves I like their circuit, you will be at it in no time joany, it's good to keep those goals in mind, tomorrow will be a great day. I know I'm trying to walk before I go to work, it's hard cause it's dark here, so I just lay there. sometimes when i didn't do it in the morning I would try to even do like some walking at lunch time. Of course when I get in the rhythm of doing it before work my whole day goes better. glad you got a day off, hope your blood tests were good happy exercising all! -

wow, this is so difficult, I'm not on food yet, but I worry about it. Some people say measure, and don't eat more then 1/2 a cup at a sitting, and dont drink. I am hoping to use some recipes and altered menues from the instinct diet. Seems like many keep track in a food journal, that's the important thing. Have you tried an online food journal like my fit day or something? Sorry I'm not much help, maybe just having support will help. sounds like you are doing great on weight loss. I bet Annie knows a lot about tthis. -

Man, came home from work and there was a red liquid in a cup right next to the juicer, thought the hubby had made some beet carrot juice for me. took a big swig- nope my son's pain water- duh. Thats how desperate I've become. Oh well On a positive note, protein shakes and kefir, I could make it from one meal to the next without thinking I was going to pass out. Hurrah! -

Ok all, I just found some low cal cream soup recipes I thought I'd share, probably most of you are past this stage but I'm really dreaming about it beginning this weekend. Creamy Cheese soup 1 1/2 cup fat free skim milk 7 oz low fat cheear or colby cheese about 1 3/4 cups 1 tsp paprika 1/8 tsp black pepper or to taste 1/8 tsp salt 2 tsp olive oil 1/2 cup yellow onion chopped (I left this out and had no taste complaints) 3 tbs all purpose flour 2 cup fat free chicken broth (the low sodium stuff is great too, watch that salt intake) Heat oil in a large saucepan over a medium high heat, add onion (if u want) cook until soft. Add flour and stir to coat. Add chicken broth bring to boil stirring frequently. Reduce heat to meduim and simmer until soup thickens about 1-2 minutes. Add milk and return to boil stirring constantly. Working in batches puree soup in a blender until smooth. (Be very careful...probably let it cool had troubles with this part first time I made it haha NOT pretty) Reheat soup til a boil and remove from heat. Whisk in the cheese stir until melted, if cheese never melts heat until it does so. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Use paprika as a garnish! reamy Potato Soup 12 oz fat free evaporated milk 1/3 tsp dried parsley 1/8 tsp black pepper, or to taste 1/8 tsp salt, or to taste 2 tsp olive oil 1/3 tsp chives, dried 3 medium garlic cloves minced 2 medium leeks, washed and coursely chopped (I can rearely find these and leaving them out doesn't sacrifice flavor) 4 cup canned chicken broth (low fat and reduced sodium great!) 4 medium Yukon gold potatoes peeled and cut into 1/2 inch cubes 1/3 tsp tarragon Heat oil in a large stockpot over medium high heat. Add leeks and garlic saute until smooth, about 3-5 minutes. Add dried herbs and stir to coat, cook until herbs are fragrant, about 1 minute. Add potatoes and broth and bring mixture to a boil. reduce heat to medium low, partially cover and cook until potatoes are fork tender, about 10 minutes. Puree 4 cups of potato mixture in a bleder or food processor until smooth. Return puree to pot, add evaporated milk and cook 1 minute to heat through. Season to taste with salt and pepper Creamy Thai Carrot Soup 6 oz low fat-tofu, silken variety 1 1/2 tsp thai curry paste, red variety or curry powder 1/2 tsp salt 2 tbsp mint leaves, fresh, cut into slivers 1 medium garlic cloves peeled 2 tsp ginger root, freshly grated 1/2 cup onion chopped 1 pound baby carrots 2 cup reduced sodium chicken broth or vegetable broth In a medium saucepan, bring broth, carrots, onion, garlic and ginger to a boil over medium high heat. Cover, reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, until carrots are tender. Stir in curry paste and salt, simmer 1 minute to blend flavors. Remove from heat and cool slightly. Add tofu to saucepan and puree in pot using an immersion blender (or in a blender in batches) until smooth. Stir in mint and serve. -

wow today I started protein shakes, can not believe it. I hope it keeps the hunger away longer, at least I'm getting more protein which should help, and more calories. I broke out my juicer so I can have some veggies too. So yes I'm dying to hear about the "mushie" or soft food phase. Is fish considered a soft food? cream of wheat? my mind is racing. very much wondering what is after the pureed stage. For some reason I didn't get info on this, but I'm afraid to jump right into chicken. -
Ok now I see this message, I guess there is a difference between personal messages and visitor messages??? this is a visitor message, I see it when I come here- the personal message came to my email box. interesting, I have such trouble with this site. Kitties, maybe they are exercising too ha! I too have been hungry, but I still when I drink it goes away, but I have to drink often. tomorrow I get to start protein shakes, actually looking forward to it. then mmmm pureed soups. wow.

Ok Cathy, since you are doing the real band eating thing I have a question for you- or a few that I often wonder about. 1. if you can only eat a 1/2 cup of food per meal, 3 meals a day- do you know how many calories - and how much protien- and carbs you are getting? I just can't imagine how one could pack all that nutritionists say we should if all the food groups that you fit in your body will fit in a 1/2 cup. 2. so this is a piggy back question. what about salad, plain raw leafy veggies, is that supposed to fit in this half cup as well, or are you able to have more then a half cup with leafy veggies- or are we talkiing if the leaves were smooshed down, I just can't imagine - let's say we have fish or chicken or some type of protien - size of the deck of cards say- seems like that all by it's self would fill a 1/2 cup- but let's just say that it only fills half, and you can fit a 1/8 cup of veggies and a 1/8 cup of carb of some type- you see - I just am having trouble with visualizing eating right and still getting what I need, I hear people on forums say they do 1200 calories per day, so let's say 3 400 calorie meal- I just can't imagine fitting 400 calories in a 1/2 cup unless I sent it through the juicer first. Yes it's true I should stop dreaming about eating, but I can't and I'd just like to visualize what my meals will be like so I can shop etc next week. Lisa -

Hi Wanna B Healthy, you know this one doc that I went to his information session that has like 200 surgeries under his belt said he had never heard of someone getting stuck on something the size of a pill, even a horse pill. I dont know if thats true, or if maybe you should er on the side of cautious because you are still have swelling- but maybe once you've healed in a couple weeks you could just cut the big ones in half. I dont know, I do know I'm sure any food I eat will be bigger then a half of a horse pill, and I hope it won't get stuck, the real problem is if you have to eat them with food, I mean if you measure them all are they like a 1/8 cup size, that's like 1/4 a meal right there in terms of how much you can take in at a meal once you are in your sweet spot. I am a huge pill hater- i feel for you. -

I don't remember the name on the person that lives in Africa and doesn't have Popsicles, sorry I know I'm spacey and day late and a dollar short on this one, but do you have a freezer - if so you could make your own, wattery juice, diet drink of some kind, tea with fake sugar, freeze it in a little cup with a stick or a ice cube tray and some tiny sticks in it and you are in business. if no freezer sorry- as an american I am obsessed with my ability to freeze things, even though I know it uses a lot of power. anyway I a amazed to hear of a lap band person in Africa, that is great. good to hear your story. -

thanks for the info, I hope it goes down that way, you are an inspiration and makes me feel like it's possible. I've been real hungry, still on the liquids, but now I have added drinkable yogurt, Thursday I add some protien drink, yahoo. not walking as much as I was pre surgery, or as fast, baby steps I guess. I'm going to set my 6 week app in mexico, I want them to do my first fill and look at the band and everything. I just found out that there is a lap band clinic at holzer in galopolis, which is further then groveport, but it's good to know about anyway. Lisa -

But I love the whole no trying to eat right without restriction bit. and you are right about this not being the easy route, its the productive route, but definitely not easy. -

miss joanie, kefir is delicious, but nothing compared to any Soup at this point, at this point I can't wait till the protien shakes start, man did i really say that. yeah the Isopure koolaid, it is so sweet, it reminds me of cough syrup, if I could pour some sparkling Water over it I'd be happy, today I mixed it with zero Vitamin water, don't ask me why one seems better then the other. But the real truth, I get starving, I start drinking, feel full and forget about it because it's not that exciting, so bottom line Im not getting enough protien, and really couldn't get enough if I tried, if 90 gs is the goal that is. then I forget and forget, then all of a sudden starving again, it's a visious cycle, plus I can't remember my Vitamins. In fact I'm pretty spacey myself. I'm back to work, I too am a boss, and we just took on a new account, I make maps/ manage data, and I just can't keep a train of thought going. I hope this doesn't go on much longer. but I have to tell you all a personal thing. I have been a terrible snorer, for a very long time. My poor husband can't sleep, I"ve always hated it. and this weight loss was my first step to trying to see if I stop snoring. Well he says that since I've been home I haven't snored at all. I wonder if the band did something in the area where I snored that stopped it. I don't know, who knows if it will keep up, but that is pretty wild I think. -

Ok Lyla here is a good cajun cod- but the seasoning could be altered like to itallian, or something else this is for 4 servings 1 lb cod or other white fish fillet 11/2 cajun seasoning sprinkle salt cooking oil spray lemons quarterd fresh parsley preheat oven 400 rinse fish cold Water, pat dry sprinkle cajun or what ever theme seasoning and salt and spray lightly with spray oil bake the fish until it breaks into flakes when pierced in the thickest part, about 30 mins squeeze lemon juice and parsely calls 111 protien 20.5 fat 2 sat fat .4 carbs 1 Fiber .3 no another way to bake fish is oven 375 line a roasting pan with foil- and you are going to pull it over so it is losely covered- or if you have a pan that you can losely cover might work too- put the fish in the foil, and put your seasoning theme on top losely cover and bake again until it breaks apart- about 30 mins. a favorite theme of mine with fish is dill, lemon, garlic salt pepper= gawd, I am so hungry, can you tell, I keep making Soups and straining the broth and giving my family the good part, Hi everyone, why cant I remember to take my Vitamins, today is my first day no liquid tylenol, glad the hellish stuff is out of my life for a while.
