I have struggled with my weight for the last 13 years.  I was pretty normal up until I had my second child at the age of 33.  I've never been back to my original weight since.  I got down to within 10 lbs of my pre-pregnancy weight about six years ago.  It was so difficult, especially when I got closer to my goal, that I started believing I could not live my life like this.  I was working out every day (doing too much for too long) and felt hungry all the time.  My life was about looking forward to the next meal.  As the years went by I slowly began to give up and ended up at my highest weight ever this past fall.  I had been thinking about weight loss surgery for about a year.  Then I decided to see my primary physician and ask if there was anything I could do.  She referred my to Dr. Takahashi in Torrance, CA.  Unfortunately this was an hour plus drive for me in good traffic.  I figured I would have to make some sacrifices anyway so driving this distance wasn't too big of an issue.  I saw Dr. Takahashi for the first time on January 19. 2010 and that's when my new life began.  At first I was a little apprehensive.  Going through all the pre-op testing was eye opening!  I had no idea all the things that were wrong with me due to obesity.  I found out I had a hiatal hernia, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and confirmed acid reflux.  I also found out that the rest of me was still in pretty good shape.  They really did a thourough job checking me over.  Now that I have had the surgery, I feel as though this is a new beginning for me and my family.  The first few days after surgery were rough but I am getting better and better every day.  I am now on pureed foods and this will help my energy a bit.  Boy was I tired of Isopure and broth!!  I am very much looking forward to the additional support of the folks on this website to help me on my jouney!
