On Thursday I'm flying to Brisbane Australia! It has been on my bucket list for a long time but now it is a dream come true. I don't have any summer clothes since i have just been buying winter/fall clothes after hitting goal last month. So here is my NSV moment.. You know that friend you have that the idea of even wishing to be as thin as them is a mean joke to play on youself?? Well she offered to let me use some of her clothes on my trip. I laughed at the idea and told her she was crazy!! There is no way I can get my butt into her skinny ass clothes!!! Well guess what!?!?? I am borrowing some of her clothing for my trip!!! I almost cried when I put on a pair of her shorts an they fit. I still don't see myself as a size four but some how putting on her clothing made it more real to me. I honestly have a problem of seeing myself as big now that Im thin but when i was big i ddnt think i was as big as i was. Now any time I think I need to lose more weight I just remind myself I'm the same size as my tinny friend. Also I got a two piece swim suit to wear to the beach. Im still a little unsure about wearing it since my scars are only six months old but Im just going to face my fears head on. I have a new body and I'm not going to hide anymore! It is time to live my live!! You can't win if you never play the game!

You can tell you boss it is major surgery since you need to for time off and explain that you don't want it talked about so your going to tell everyone you are taking some vacation time. Your boss should respect that and it will keep questions off. If you tell everyone you are having major surgery and then start losing weight they are going to put two and two together.

You are going to do awesome! You sound like you are doing just as i did and i hit goal in 5 months. I cute out bread and pasta. I just started eating bread again and I'm still losing. I'm under goal and I'm a size 4 now. My highest size was 20.. Good luck girl!! Feel free to email me anytime!

I'm not sure if your talking about my post with carrots but I didn't have some issues after eating them as a snack over a 12 hour period. Since over that long of a time I was able to eat half a bag. I had some pretty bad constipation. I honestly thought pol were over reacting about constipation til I had it myself.. Let me tell you that bone pain I never want to feel again!! I Ishi from BeLiteWeight and she got ahold of my dr for me. Also I work atthe hospital and was able to get advice. Luckly I was able to get over the conner stuff and get better. Other than that time I love my new stomach. I had my surgery done in July 10' and I'm a size 4 now

Yah!!! I'm so excited for you!! Way to go!! I've started eating more meals but then at the same times I am starting to think I wouldn't mind losing more. Good luck!!

Official Ongoing Gastric Sleeve Maintenance Thread
mellifrits replied to Oregondaisy's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
So for three weeks I was kinda worried cuz I wasn't hungry at all and when I did eat I got sick. In these two weeks I lost 10 lbs (wouldn't care before but I'm at goal) and I honestly wasn't sure what was going on. Now I'm starting to think it was just stress of going for a visit to MO and seeing my ex that dumped me after two years of dating cuz I couldn't lose the weight. This week and half I got my hunger back and I gained 9 whole F-in lbs (I am getting ready to start also). Im pretty sure my body is scared i was never going to feed it again. II never would have set my goal weight to the low 120's but it was kinda nice. What the heck is wrong with me?!?! Will I ever find a happy weight? I can't make up my mind. So I'm just going to be honest with you guys. My new goal is to be 120 by summer. I'm 5'3" so it's not under wieght. Sometimes though I worry I've done gone n lost my mind lol I <3 you guys Thanx for always letting me vent. -

Really? That is awesome. I can only eat a 6" if I use a fork to eat what is on it and not eat the bread. I can eat 1/3 of a 12" if I take the top part of the bread off. I'm happy you are doing so well. Your picture looks amazing!! I wish my stomach looked like that!! -
gastric sleeve plication in mexico, help?
mellifrits replied to vickie's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
I went to Dr. Rod through BeLiteWeight.com It was amazing!! I just posted on here about my six out advice for pre-op -
I have only had mine for 6 months but I am very happy with mine. I have gone from a size 20 to a size 4. But I only had 80lbs to lose. From what I'm told if you have 100 or more to lose you should go with the VSG. The main thing you have to remember every WLS is only as good as you take care of it. There are ways to eat more than 3 oz if you really want to with the super sleeve and vsg. I wish I hadn't read how ppl do it so I'm not going to share but I'm still losing weight even though I'm not doing a strict diet anymore. I lost my weight faster than most since I gav up bread and pasta for five months. I knew I needed protien so used my space to eat meat instead of carbs.

Just had plication surgery and need urgent help with pain
mellifrits replied to jg62's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
The main thing is to walk walk walk! The pain you are talking about is gas pain. What I found worked the best was walking, gas-x strips, and a heating pad. If your anything like me once you feel better you won't really remember the pain -
Oh man that is awesome!! It is nice once your use to people knowing you as thin to know you can still shook people. I love when say "I can't imagine you weighing 80 lbs more" but when I was heavy it was "I can't imagine you looking any different, are you sure you want to lose more weight"

Advice - 6 months after Total Gastric Vertical Plication Sleeve Surgery
mellifrits posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone! So it has been a little over six months now since my wls. I use to post a lot on here but for some reason when the site changed I stopped getting updates sent to my emails and it was hard to keep up with where I had posted and who I had or hadn’t written. I finally found what the issue was so I should be able to keep up with all the threads now. I got my Sleeve Plication on July 12, 2010 at The Hospital Star Medica with Dr. Jose Rodriguez. I have gone from my highest weight of 210 and highest jean size of 20 NOW my weight is 132 and my jean size is 4/6. PRE-OP I am an open book for you and any questions you have. I was lucky with the money side of it since I charged it to a credit card that was interest free for a year and now I have been working on paying it off. So I can’t give you any advice in that area. I booked with BeLiteWeight and they took care of everything for me. As for a SCAM I had the same worries but everything turned out fine. II even missed my flight that morning and just called where they told me to call and it was no problem at all. The guy was there to pick me up just like he said he would be. We had to stop at the Mexican line and explain why we were going to Mexico. I didn't know I would have to explain in detail so just be ready to say what hospital and what Doctor you are going to see. They will ask how to plan to pay since they don’t like the idea of you taking large amounts of money with you. Since I had a money order there were no issues. Once I got into Mexico I did have some fear since as we all know Mexico is nothing like the USA. They had just had some flooding so it was pretty dirty looking. BUT the hospital was amazing. I have worked in a couple hospitals and this hospital was more like a resort. It was SO BEAUTIFUL!! It was clean, nice, and everyone was so nice to me. There was a few times at night when someone didn't speak English but I just used my paper they gave me and pointed at what I want. There were no problems at all. POST-OP On the pain side of the things your pain will come from gas more than anything. You won’t feel like walking but do it anyways. The more you walk the better you will feel. Gas-X is your best friend!! I used them as a pain pill. I was wake up and almost be puking gas so I would use one and it helped a ton. Also a heating pad is amazing too! My heating pad helped a ton when it came to sleeping. But again the main thing is to get off your butt and walk! If you don’t, the pain will be much worse than it has to be. On the flight home it will be a little hard since you will be weak but not impossible. When you get to your flight ask to board first. You don’t want anyone rushing or pushing you. Make sure to take a pain pill before you get on your flight and bring Gas-X too. If you have the time in between your flights then walk since it will help with pain BUT if you are short on time don’t try to rush. Ask someone to drive you. I just explain that I had just had surgery and everyone was very kind to me. My sister was with me when I was in Mexico but honestly you should be fine on your own. It was nice to have her since she would wake me up every few hours to make me walk but as long as you are able to make yourself do that on your own you should be fine. Make sure to only pack one bag (you won’t even need that much anyways) that has wheels. I promise you won’t feel like carrying anything. AFTER CARE On after care I haven't had any yet since I don’t have insurance but I plan to get my yearly done next month. I did have an issue where I didn't know we can’t eat fresh vegetables and was very constipated; to the point that I had a temp and was in a ton of pain. The good thing was they got a hold of my Dr. in Mexico and he let me know what was going on and how to deal with it. So your Dr. in Mexico is on hand if you need him for any reason. It has now been six months since my wls and I feel great. I don’t try to lose weight anymore but it still seems to come off. Most people are scared of the Total Gastric Vertical Plication Sleeve Surgery (aka Super Sleeve) since they think they will still be hungry. It isn’t what you think at all. I thought it would be where I am still hungry but I can’t eat anymore due to my stomach size. But I’m here to tell you it is not like that at all. I don’t not have to eat to my limit to be full, most of the time I am full before I get to my limit. I do get hungry at times but it is not the same kind of hungry. I honestly don’t know how to explain it and if anyone else can give some input that would be awesome. But the main answer I have is yes when your stomach is full you are full. And no I don’t really get hungry for Snacks. Honestly now I have to tell myself okay it is time to eat, you should eat. My body doesn’t always tell me. That is the best way I can explain it. Besides the fresh vegetables I haven’t had any problems with what I can or can’t eat. You have to understand though I was working a 12 hour shift and I ate a half bag of carrots in the 12 hours. That is why I had so many problems... BUT notice in a spanned of 12 hours of snacking I ONLY ATE half a band of small carrots; before that would have been normal for one snack. When I go out to eat I always look at the kids meals first. If I don’t get a kid’s meal I ask for a box and I put 2/3 of my food in the box before I even start. Sometimes I don’t even finish that 1/3 of my food. My biggest advice to people is to eat slow, take small bits and chew a lot. If you take my advice most people won’t even notice how little you eat (there are only a hand full of people that know about my wls). Be VERY careful of someone talking to you while you are chewing and trying to swallow fast so you can reply. That can cause some pain if you swallow a large un-chewed amount at once. If you have any more questions I would love to answer them and if you have any more advice PLEASE PLEASE add it! Here is a link about the Super Sleeve: http://www.promedica...r/erevna_en.htm -

Awe girl I'm so sorry! I know I thought what the hell did I just do to my self those first few days but honestly I think of the pain the same mothers talk about child birth. I only remember what I wrote down not real memories themselves. So I promise this too will pass! It is worth it! You are now in control of your own future!!

Oh man I remember doing that.. I was about to lose my mind lol.. BUT I promise you will not ever want to go back once your wls is done! It is wonderful to lose the weight dont get me wrong BUT the freedom you will have from food is so amazing! The control that right now feels almost normal will be gone! It is so amazing to eat to live instead of living to eat. It is about 1:30 here and I haven't eaten yet today. I dont really feel hungry but I know I should eat. Before I would have been fighting myself to just wait til lunch to eat and now Im that person that says, "Oh I forgot to eat" WHO DOES THAT!! Im so happy for you to join us on the other side!

I am so happy that I fit into a size 4 and I didn't even have to lay on the bed to get them on!

I second that
