  1. Well if one week is getting you this upset, you may be in for a rude awakening! Unfortunately, plateaus happen. It's just crazy! I do not post on here much, but when I read you may be losing motivation; I felt I would like to respond.

I am one week past my one year anniversary of being banded and so far I have lost almost 130lbs. I am exercising my butt off, and this weekend, I will be running my first half marathon (13.1) race in San Diego, with my personal goal of finishing the race within 3 hours. By the way, in January I just turned 50 years old.

Currently, I am 20 pounds away from my goal weight and I lose about 1 pound every 2 to 3 weeks. So, I know how frustrating it is to step on that scale, hoping for a loss number to show up, only sees the same number as last time, or even a higher number. This can and will be very emotional, especially if you are doing everything like you are supposed to do.

I just want you to know that there are a lot of people just like us who go through this numerous times on their way to their goal. I had a plateau that lasted three and a half weeks. Believe me I know how frustrating this can be and it only made me want to step on that scale even more often, which I did daily. I believe that this caused me more stress and the more stress I put on myself, he more I didn't lose. No matter what the scale shows now, I only weigh myself once a week, that's it.

As for motivation, just keep focusing on the positives, (I know that is very hard to do) and just keep staying upbeat! Follow the doctor’s orders, and programs, and this will work out for you, just as it has for thousands of other people!

Also, you can't see my weight loss in my pic as it is a before photo and I’m currently at work, but in the next couple of days, I will post a new "after" photo of me. There should be an "In Process" photo slot on this site as well. LOL!

Good luck to you and please stay motivated!!

    Pete

  2. thank you all. when were you all banded and how much weight have you lost? and waitingpatiently' date=' i try not to but its hard. it will be a year in september and i have only lost 30 pounds. i think its because i need more fills. i have only had 4 and i have the bigger band.[/quote']

Well, I started out at 376 pounds and had my lapband installed on Febuary 29th of this year. So it's been a total of 111 days since my surgery and I have lost 88 pounds so far. When I got the surgery, which took me years to get done, I knew I wanted to make te most of the process. I haven't had restriction until my last fill and that went away a few days later. Therefore, I think I will be pretty close to the sweet spot with my next fill. I have not lost any weight for the last two weeks and I have to refocus myself to smaller portions like I did right after surgery.

  3. Well... Here is my first post op update! I think I was the last one from this group to be banded in February. I was banded on February 29th at 8:00am at the Hallmark Surgery center. Once I woke up I was elated and very excited to start my new life. Dr. Krahn did an excellent job! The staff at this surgery center was awesome. I had to stay in recovery for three hours due to having sleep apnea. Once my oxygen level to stay where they wanted it, I was dismissed to go home. Tomorrow is my first follow up appointment, so I may have the tape strips removed and can check out the scars. As far as my weight goes, so far with the pre op diet and liquid diet since, I have lost 48 pounds. Still a ways to go, but at least I'm on my way.

  4. Starting my second week of the pre-op diet! So far I have lost 17lbs during the first week of the diet. I get banded on 2/6/2012! I started at 375 and Doctor would like me to get to 200. So I am looking to lose 175lbs. total!

Well... I was scheduled for 2/6/12 with the surgery group that all the bad publicity came out on TV. Even the maker of the LapBand won't sell it to that group anymore. So I got all of my records from them and went to Dr. Krahn. I am now scheduled for February 29th, leap year day! LOL So after losing a total of 20lbs. on the first pre-op diet, I have started the pre-op diet all over again today, since my surgery will be in two weeks. At least I got one week off between the two diets! I can't wait to get this done and get this weight off once and for al!!

  5. cantwait2lose, How is the pre-op diet going? Any challenges I should know about? I start mine Thursday of this week.

It's going pretty good. The first few days were tough, but I kept saying to myself "I'm not going to cheat". Just keep telling yourself that and as he days go by, it gets a little easier! Good luck!
