My surgery was on 5/17/10 for the band everything was going fine until May 28. i got lightheaded and jittery and that night i noticed a rash/hives across my chest. took my pain meds hydrocodone threw it up was a little short of breath. the next day i was still feeling nauseated still had the rash/hives thumb became very swollen so i thought i was having a reaction to meds or something so i took benadryl and lied down hoping that would help. got up with swollen joints hot inflammed knees, a lump under my left big toe, hands swollen like baseball mitts and the rash/hives spreaded all over my body. Never been allergic to anything or had hives before. the doctors dont know what to do; been to the ER twice and over night in the hospital. they have me on high dose steroids, benadryl im very disappointed and in pain. itching and everything else. i beleive that my body is probably reacting to something foreign in my body (lap-band) and is fighting it. has anyone experienced this before or something similar. Had the lapband removed 05/2013 never worked out for me. I think my body was reacting to the foreign object, lost 40lbs. and gained it back. I had the gastric by-pass 9/30/13 starting weight was 286, now at 232 2/8/14. I feel gastric was the best surgery and I am continuing my weight loss journey. My goal weight is 170lbs.
