  1. Happy 41st Birthday SRKS72!

  2. Happy 40th Birthday SRKS72!

  3. 5 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 5th Anniversary SRKS72!

  4. How soon after your TT do you fill like dressing in a non elastic pant/skirt/short? Also, when I go back to work after two weeks will my pants fit bigger in the stomach waist? Will I still be swollen still and look the same (or bigger) then I did before?
  5. Yesterday for lunch I ate a meatball a little larger than a golf ball. For supper last night I ate a few baked french fries. After I ate supper I got the hick ups. This morning when I woke up I hick uped and some of my supper came up. Is this normal for food to be in my pouch for that long? I feel like I am full and have no desire to eat (other than head hunger). When I took my morning medicine I had to drink a little. I seemed to reflux back up. I have been drinking tea this morning and can feel a gurgle a little while after I drink, as it goes down. I know that the Fluid is going down slowly. I feel like I have indigestion (and have since I woke up). Is this normal? I have been banded since November 2006. Could my band be stopped up? Also, I have 3.4 cc in 4 cc band. I know I have good restriction. However, if I eat solid protien I can't eat all that much. If I eat a snack (like a 100 calorie pack) I can eat the entire bag. If I eat a protien bar for Breakfast I can eat the entire bar. If I eat food that is not solid protien I can eat more than a cup. Is this all normal? I am

    Sugar Addict

I find that it feels like even drinking diet green tea makes me still crave sugar. All I drink is Water and green tea (since being banded). I was just wondering if I cut out all of the diet green tea (aspartame) and drank only water then ate only meat, nuts and vegetable if I could stop these cravings? Also, I guess they would start back up again if it ate any food with sugar or artifical sweeteners? I know years ago I didn't crave sugar and I could go days/weeks without it and eat a piece of cake (or whatever) and then be fine without it again. I wasn't overweight then. I carry most all of my weight in my stomach area. Could that have anything to do with the sugar cravings? I am very happy with the band. Since getting the band I have lost 40 pounds (november 2006). I feel successful so far, but it is starting to be such a struggle constantly fighting these cravings.

    Sugar Addict

How can I kick this sugar craving? I eat protein and rarely get hungry, but I crave sugar SO BAD. I have gone four or five days without eating sugary foods but then relapse. Once I eat some then the cravings are considerably worse. I did so well (for almost a week) until my sons 16th birthday and I ate a piece of cake. Then I had a really bad day at work and I fell off completely. What can I eat/take that will help kick this and STOP the cravings? Can you take supplements/vitamins that will help with these cravings? Even eating the Special K protein bars keep me craving sugar and wanting more bars.:cry
  8. I was reading posts earlier and noticed that people referenced appetite suppressants. My doctor didn't say anything about taking any. Is this common? If so, what kind? Also, he told me not to take any medication biger than your small fingers fingernail. I saw a referece to cod liver oil pills. How big are they? I was just wondering if I should get some.
  9. I went for my first fill on December 15. When I was at the clinic the PA was explaining what to do and what not to do. I asked about the band slipping and about it eroding. She told me that those are less common than when people stretch the small pouch out like a mushroom. She said many people tend to stretch the pouch out and it mushrooms over the band making a larger pouch. She said it allows you to each a lot of food and you don't feel full. I am afraid that I have stretched my pouch out. When I was first banded (November 23) I was only able to eat about 1/4 to 1/2 of cup of food. Once I healed up I have been able to eat what seems like a lot of food. I make myself stop eating after eating about a saucer size plate of food, but I don't feel full. Even after my first fill I still don't fill like I did the first few days after surgery. Also, while having my first fill the PA said she was having trouble because the needle was to short. She had to push really hard to get it in the port. I asked how she was sure she did get it in the port and she said because she pulled a little bit of Fluid out. My doctor added a very tiny bit of fluid during surgery.
  10. When I left the hospital last week the nurse gave me a medical card to keep in my wallet. He said to show it when eating out to order off the childs menu in the future. It says I can only eat 1/4 of a cup of food. My doctor allowed me to eat start eating pudding, apple sauce, Jello - two times a day and then get my 40-60 protien grams in with my shakes a couple days after surgery. I can eat an entire pudding/apple sauce cup. They are 1/2 cup and I am full until I drink (even an hour later) then I am starving again. My doctor called for my 1 week check today and told me to move on to mushy foods. I guess my question is, why does it say 1/4 cup on the card?
  11. Have any of you used him? I am scheduled to have my lapband put on November 20 by him. I tried finding information about him on the Texas Medical Board site, but he is still listed at his last place in Jacksonville, Texas as a general surgeon. I guess I am getting nervous and just don't want to be one of his first bands. I could really use any information you have, because I am a selfpay and will not be able to afford this again, if I have problems. This is my one shot.
  12. I realize that each person is different. I have read all the books my doctor gave me and I can’t seem to find out these food questions. I have my pre surgery meeting next week and I guess they will tell me then, but I am just wondering now. Will I ever be able to eat these items after the surgery? Lettuce Grapes Tomatoes Cheese Almonds Apples Pears
  13. I am scheduled for surgery on November 20. I am on a special drink called Myocel. All I can find out is that it is a drink that my doctor sells and they hold the rights to the drink. It is a hight protien shake. I am to drink it 2-3 times a day and eat two 4-8 oz meals a day. My problem is that the day I went in for my first appointment I was scheduled for surgery on November 27. They called back and had moved my surgery to the 20th. That date will give me the week of Thanksgiving to recover using less sick time at work. Now I am very excited about having the surgery, but I really wanted to have one last meal of real Mexican food. The way it has worked out I had to start the diet right when she call with my new appointment date. I wonder if it would mess things up to bad if I went on a date with my Husband and I ate one meal of mexican food. My starting BMI is 37 and I would still have 7-8 days more days on the diet. Also, once I have the surgery will I still feel hunger? I just don't understand how the big part of your stomach being empty doesn't make you always feel hungery.
