A good friend had the band done at the same time I was grinding out the reps/hours in the gym and quickly passed me up with his weight loss. I was against the lapband at first and looked at it as a personal failure or as if I would be giving up. Truth is, I have given up. I don't have the discipline to stay in the gym and eat appropriately 24x7; especially when life happens. After several months of thought and failures at the gym, I now look at this as a possible success story. At one point I weighed 387lbs, I worked extremely hard in the gym for 18months and lost a mere 65lbs. Quit working out and packed almost all of it back on. I saw my buddy this weekend and he looks really healthy and seems like he feels alot better than he has in years. I can only hope I have a similar outcome.
