Protein??How to get your protein in the first two weeks of post op?
Buckeye replied to jennykay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protein shakes, Scrambled eggs and cottage cheese (chew them up good) I have never had an issue getting the Protein, you just have to avoid the carbs GL -
Ok, I waited over two weeks since I got mine to post about it as I wanted to be sure it worked. This thing is great! It measures my calorie burn, steps, moderate activity and then you enter your food and it give you a deficit, nutrition info etc. You enter goals, it is awesome You can get it online or at 24 hour fitness (I am not a paid spokesperson) LOL Reduced food intake is great but only half of it, maintaining muscle during the loss and exercise get you to the goal quicker, more healthy and make it easier to sustain once you reach your goal.

I take off the obvious fat, but chew it up and no problem

As was mentioned they are less than $250 But I paid almost $1500 for the copay for my surgery so IMO that is a drop in the bucket. Since the food intake is only half the battle I want to put as much effort into the fitness part.

Not to be an enabler, and everyone is different, but my Dr stiched my stomach over as well to prevent slipping. I was told by my Dr that only reason for the diet the first month is to prevent slipping from food getting stuck and vomiting. I was told 2 days of clear liquids, 3-14 any liquids/puree, 15-28 soft foods and 4 oz of anything you can tolerate after that. After 10 days I was eating scrambled eggs and bacon (I chew them to a pulp though). Last weekend I had a 4oz filet mignon, again chewed to a pulp. I have not had a fill and I have not had anything stuck. I am 27 days now and have been eating the 4oz of anything for the past week with no issues. Good luck, and EXERCISE!!

Okay, maybe I am jumping the gun a bit here since I am only 17 days post op, but I have been eating just like I would if I could only put the 4oz in with no issues. I am no longer hungry between meals and feel full with the 4oz. I know that as time goes on the feeling of fullness may fade, but as of right now I wouldnt get a fill. My 1st fill appt is scheduled for June 30. I am down 17 pounds since the morning of surgery and I have been going to the gym since my 2 weeks of restricted activity were up. Does anyone know if anyone out there lost all the weight and didnt get a fill?

Thanks everyone for the replies, they told me two weeks and I was gung ho. Last night I had a few sharp pains in bed while rolling over. I think I will wait till i have no more pain and just walk and swim.
