Hi Chickie, Wow you look great!!!!
-
Hi All, Meredith, you look soooo happy and the dress looks great, I know I will be able to look back on my pics one day and be surprised at myself but it all just seems so far away now. Keep up the good work, how far away is the big day??? Thx for the advice on the nurofen, thankfully I've only used it a couple of times since surgery, but I'll stay away now. Still feels a bit surreal for me now, lots to keep thinking about. Can anyone give me an example of a days eating??? pls ......... and exercise I know we are all differnt I would just like to see any common denominators.

Hi Sussanah, Here are the steps for your ticker, first go to www.tickerfactory.com and follow the steps to make your ticker, very easy if you can post here you can do this then follow steps below. Good Luck. Once you've made your ticker: (i think the steps are:) 1. Choose the line design for your ticker 2. Chose the "slider" design 3. Put in the date, what you are "counting", and your time zone. If your ticker is correctly "made" it will display on the last page that you click to. To get the ticker onto your signature, you need to highlight and right-click "copy" on the information in the "bbCode" box (the top one), then come back over here, click "User CP" on the toolbar above, then click the link on the left hand side to "Edit signature". Paste (ctrl+V) the code you copied from tickerfactory into the top editing box, then click the "preview signature" button at the bottom of the page, and if it has worked, go back and save it! et voila - a ticker! ** Remember - keep the ticker page open while you do all this - if it doesn't work the first time, you may need to go back, cut'n'paste and try again.

Hi Bronnie, Nice to hear from you... I remember it well. I like you sleepon my side and trying to sleep on my back was hard to get used to, I found the wheat bag helped, I couldn't walk around alot because every time I did I felt really sick, so thats why lying down on the couch or in bed helped when the pain got bad. I had pain releif on cue every 4-6hrs, that way it didn't get to out of control. I didn't eat or drink alot the first 4-5days as I just could not stomach it. I think the most I had was 1/2 a cup of tea. Just take some time and make sure that you rest, if you feel like moving move if you don't then don't, it's important to make sure you heal b4 you do to much so you don't risk a slip and then you'll be right when you really get into it later. I think the big thing for me was that I wanted food because I hadn't eaten, mentally it was harder (and still is)than physically. Take care of yourself and remember what a great group of people are here for support.

Hi Meredith & Sussanah, Thanks for the tips and reassurance, this really is a great thread don't know what I would do without you guys!!!!

Hi All, Hi Bronnie - congrats on joinng the club, I just had panamax & then went to Nurofen which was soooo much better. I am still getting some shoulder tip pain now, but I couldn't handle walking around, lying down for a few days flat is all the eleveated my pain. Hows everyone else doing?? How are you going now Sussanah after your 1st fill ? mine Is on the 30th 5wks after my surgery. I am slowly starting to eat stuff that not so mushy, i.e had salad yesterday and just chewed really well, had baked beans last night and again chewed really well. I am a bit worried that I can eat without any worries, like I am just stopping to eat because I think that should be enough not that I feel full. I am taking 20mins or so to eat the food but still feel I could eat more, is this normal??
-
Hi All, Bronnie you'll be ok, just take a good mag to keep you going. Don't let them kick you out if your not ready either. Personally I think being done later will be good, you won't being laying there uncomfortabel for as long.... always lok on the bright side. Susannah - You poor bugger hopefully you will be right and it will all settle down, if you need to go back he won't charge you will he??? And you will be able to go through it look what you've already done ... won't be anywhere near as bad as you imagine. As far as your ticker factory is concerened just do a new one on your computer so you can update from there...

Hi All, KarenB Thanks for that advice I guess you worry about all sorts of things b4 you see the doc again, great to hear you can find stuff to help you out all exercise is good exercise, I think I'll try to find those bands they sound great.!!! Bronnie - 2 days to go, I can still picture it in my head myself only a few weeks ago. You will do great, how long are they keeping you in hospital after the surgery? I went home the next day but really think another day would have been good, the drive home was awful (1&1/2hrs). 2 days B4 my op I had a really nice meal, then the day b4 I thought I might want crappy food just for the sake of it but I ended up having salad for dinner & I felt better for it. Loreeta - Public health system SUCKS... don't even get me started on it in QLD you really realise how good VIC is when you come up here. Keep your chin up!!!!
-
Hi All, Ok I just had a baked potato for dinner with some light sour cream & some light cheese, mixed it all togerther so it was like runny mash and ate very slowly but managed to eat it all IS THIS NORMAL.. I am worried that I can eat too much....
-
Hi All, Meredith - Thanks for all that advice, it's hard now because I feel like I did B4 i was banded and I am hungry but obviously limiting myself, its getting out of that food mindset of am I really hungry or just wanting a particular food. I tried cottage cheese with a bit of Tuna last night and it was pretty good, had 1 milky weetbix today and was ok, just need to get used to what feeling satisfied really feels like and stopping there instead of eating beacuse I THINK I want more. Susannah - How are you going? Hows the weight loss? Are you exercising yet? How are you going mentally with it all? Bronnie - You are so close!!! Stay away from undies that will sit high on your waist as you will have your incision sites and bloating to deal with, in fact I found it most comfortable just being in my undies and a singlet top that was really loose (just a tip). Loretta - Do you have a date yet?? Take care all, chat soon!!!

Hi All, Hi Angel, welcome. You sound like you have done really well, good on you!!! Well 2wks on Monday and I am onto Mushies THANK GOD!!!!. Can someone pls explain the consistancy I am looking for for example can I eat Mashed potato or a jacket potato without the skin???? Are omlettes ok?? I see they say weetbix for brekkie (I'll do my best on that one). What sort of sensations am I looking for when I eat?? Is it just that full feeling and then stop?? When can I eat fruit like actually east an apple?? And exercise I live on acerage but have a cross trainer how long should I be starting on that right now I don't have a whole lot of energy.... I know I know lots of questions but I would be grateful for some help.
-
Hi All, I physically feel good but sill tender especially around port site I guess that will just take some more time. With the mushies did you all start that 14days after op??? I am going to try some hoy & sour soup from the chinese tonight (I love spicy food). and see if that can get me through the last few days. How are you going Sussanah??
-
Hi Bronnie, One week to go ... one week to go!!! You must be so excited... Hows it all going. I didn't stick to the pre-op diet, I just changed my choices and ate low fat and has shakes at least once a day. My op went fine but I must admit I was stressing about it the night b4 wondering if I'd be ok. You'll be fine especially if he didn't advise you to do the Optifast to begin with. I'm doing better can't wait for mushies and some texture I don't think I'll ever eat ice-cream, kelly, custard or yogurt again.!!!!!! Susannah what sort of stuff did you eat for mushies and did you wait the 14 days to start them????

"Great to hear you are healing up well. Sorry that I can't offer you any advice about your child, as it's beyond my experience with parenting, but I'm sending you a hug anyway." quote Thanks, really appreciate the sentiment!!!

Meredith you are just powering along, you will be at your goal in no time. Hi Sussanah, how are you doing now, are you still on mushies and what are you eating for that. My wounds are starting to heal now, but that bloody shoulder pain just keeps hanging around. Have been feeling really nauseous last couple of days and almost like I have a stitch pain, is that all normal. I am craving something other than liquid I'm so over soup, jelly, custard etc , another week of this any suggestions, I just can't stomach the shakes at the moment.:faint: Mum is here for another week and then she leaves on Sat 3rd, I hope I feel better then. In the middle of all this my son is having some auditory processing issues and the peadatrician is trying to get me to put him on Ritalin, he is not adhd and thank god I have the schools support but we are wondering if we need to move to get him some better facilities as Qld is pretty Sh.t (excuse my french but really cross) , I know some of you are in the field any suggestions here!!! I want to move back to Melb but hubby dosen't and it's not really practicle right now. Anyway thats my whinge I would appreciate any input.:help:

Hi B, welcome, no over stepping the line here, honesty is the best policy we are all in this together. I am going in tomorrow so I'll be in touch in a few days when I'm up to it stick to the program and if you fall off remeber as one very wise person once said "Committ yourself everyday to eating healthy and looking after your body" something like that!!! Anyway the moral is that everyday is a new day and if you slip today you have tomorrow. Chat Soon

Hi All, 1 Day to go!!!! Feeling verrrry nervous not about the band but about the op itself and the expectation of the future and the unknown. I don't want to go expecting to much but I fear that I am, I know I've made the right choice and am excited about my life ahead but I worry I won't do as well as I should... Is this feeling normal???? Susannah, Good on you I'm really happy for you that you've settled in so well. Bronnie, Keep up the good work I am hopeless at diets and miss the whole comfort factor of food, you guys really indspire me. Will check in b4 I go. Last minute jitters and all that.

Hi All, What diet have I treid I guess the question should be what haven't I tried... here we go, CSIRO, Weight Watchers (approx 10 times), every diet pill more than a couple of times each duromine, tenuate dospan, addifax, reductil, xenical (sure there are more), all the "healthy" diet pills chitosan, fat blaster, epherdrine etc, Jenny Craig was a "present" for my 18th birthday, lite n easy, some other delivery one, Sure Slim, I think the only think I haven't tried is Gloria Marshall . I did lose weight b4 I got married in 04 through Personal Trainer and cutting out wheat & sugar, but got pregnant with my daughter straight away and was sick from Day 1 all I could hold down was Bread SOoooo naturally I gained all my weight back and more!!! Yeah for me... I wanted to do band 12mths ago but my husband wasn't for it eventually in Oct this year I told him I can't do this anymore emotinally or physically I am going to see the Doc and off we went, he has been really great & supportive now. Cam - What industry are you in, you know alot about the ins and outs of all this stuff? Bronnie - Keep on going I am really proud of you. And be proud of yourself.
