When that happened to me I had a small unfill and everything was great! Please... call your doctor right away as being too tight can cause serious problems. Hope you are better soon!

can't look at a drink!
rheaosun replied to Doreenviv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call your doctor... they can prescribe something for your nausea. It is a suppository so you dont have to swallow it. They saved my life. Don't bother with the milky type protien shakes... they make it worse. Try the Isopure drinks... they are loaded with protien but taste like koolaid. Make sure you shake them really well, serve them over ice so they are really cold and sip, sip, sip. Hang in there... it gets better everyday and so worth it! God Bless! -
I had one of those on my port incision too. It looked like a small piece of dental floss. My husband and I set out to do surgery to remove it. We sterilized my tweezers and some cuticule scissors. We pulled it taught and then cut it. When he cut it... it sucked back up into the small hole in the incisiion. Then... in a matter of days the small hole closed up. I did put a small dab of neosporine on it daily. If you are a patient person... wait till you see your Dr. If not... know that my incisions healed great! Good Luck to you and God bless!

Unjury protein powders
rheaosun replied to Rachael's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The chicken soup flavor is delicious! However, you can not heat it in the microwave... the protein clumps. I don't know which is worse... luke warm chicken soup or hot, clumpy chicken soup. It was a good thought but just didn't work for me... gave my unjury away to a friend. -
Not sure if you are newly banded but at first I had to take really small sips of liquid at a time. You may not have any fill in your band but at this point but you do have swelling. If you are not newly banded but have just had a fill it could be a couple of things. Once again... right after a fill... I am back to small sips. Also, you could be too tight. A few days after my fill, when the swelling subsides, I can drink normal again without having to sip. One more thought... you might have irritated your esophogus (sp?) with too big a bite of food. When in doubt... call your doctor... that's what they are there for! Hope this helps... hang in there... it gets better every day and is so worth it!

You will not always have to crush your pills... just in the beginning when your stomach is healing. I have had four fills and have 5 cc's in my 11 cc band now and can swallow my pills without crushing. Some are, what I consider, pretty big pills and I have no problems. Hang in there... it gets better every day and so worth it! I do occasionally miss an ice cold diet coke but wouldn't trade my band for one. Hope you are feeling better soon!

I felt the same way... even now at almost 10 months post op... I sometimes feel that same sensation. It depends on the time of day and the type of food but I can literally feel it going down. I only have 5 cc's in an 11 cc band so I would not say I am tight. I can eat most foods without any problem but any dry, dense meat will not work and I have not tried bread yet. Hope this info is helpful for you.

Constant gurgling and diarrhea?
rheaosun replied to Sarabi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The really noisy gut sounds will pass in a couple of weeks. However, I am still noisy on occasion... depending on what I eat and other circumstances. The diarrhea is due to the liquid diet... as you add mushies and then soft foods back to your diet things should get better in that department. Don't be surprised if you are gassier than usual and I can't say that gets any better with time. With all that said... I wouldn't change a thing... I would still chose to be banded. I love my band and the changes it has made in my life! Hang in there... it gets better every day! -
Beside the pain in my left shoulder from gas, the port pain was the worst! I too found it very helpful to alternate heat and ice to the port area... ice to reduce swelling and heat to reduce pain. Also, whenever I changed positions I found it helpful to apply pressure to the port area for security. It has become a habit and I find myself still holding my stomach when I go from a sitting to standing position. It is also helpful to hold the area when you cough or sneeze. I couldn't lay on my side for several weeks after surgery but eventually could if I put a pillow under the port area for support. Now... months later it is no problem! Hang in there... healing takes a while.

stomach gurgles?
rheaosun replied to adriennemarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hate to tell you this but my stomach still makes crazy gurgling noices all time and I am 8 months post op. Some days are louder than others but I have come to grips with the fact that my tummy is just gonna be gurgly. Gas... is the same way... some days are explosive and others are not as bad but since surgery... I am just gassy. It took several months to get back to normal in the bathroom. Even now after I have a fill and have to go on liquids... it takes a week or so to get back on track. You are not alone and I think all of the things you have mentioned are normal after lapband surgery. Hang in there... it gets better. Finally, my scars took a few weeks to heal and are not bad at all... still a little pink but I think that will fade in time. With all of that said... I wouldn't change a thing and I love my band as I have lost 50 pounds and 4 pant sizes. Not to mention... I feel great, have more energy and am healthier than I have been in years! -
Yes... sounds like you are way too tight. Sometimes, just a very small unfill can make a huge difference. Call your Doc ASAP! You don't want to do damage to your new stomach and band. Good Luck!

does the band loosen after a fill?
rheaosun replied to lgaskill's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The girgling is a sure sign that you are too tight as is the vomiting. Go... as fast as you can and have a bit taken out... just a little bit can make a big difference. Being too tight and vomitting can cause your band to slip and you don't want that. Hope this helps!
