    Bubbles after Fill

When that happened to me I had a small unfill and everything was great! Please... call your doctor right away as being too tight can cause serious problems. Hope you are better soon!

    can't look at a drink!

Call your doctor... they can prescribe something for your nausea. It is a suppository so you dont have to swallow it. They saved my life. Don't bother with the milky type protien shakes... they make it worse. Try the Isopure drinks... they are loaded with protien but taste like koolaid. Make sure you shake them really well, serve them over ice so they are really cold and sip, sip, sip. Hang in there... it gets better everyday and so worth it! God Bless!

    any hanging sutures?

I had one of those on my port incision too. It looked like a small piece of dental floss. My husband and I set out to do surgery to remove it. We sterilized my tweezers and some cuticule scissors. We pulled it taught and then cut it. When he cut it... it sucked back up into the small hole in the incisiion. Then... in a matter of days the small hole closed up. I did put a small dab of neosporine on it daily. If you are a patient person... wait till you see your Dr. If not... know that my incisions healed great! Good Luck to you and God bless!

    Unjury protein powders

The chicken soup flavor is delicious! However, you can not heat it in the microwave... the protein clumps. I don't know which is worse... luke warm chicken soup or hot, clumpy chicken soup. It was a good thought but just didn't work for me... gave my unjury away to a friend.

    Lump in throat

Not sure if you are newly banded but at first I had to take really small sips of liquid at a time. You may not have any fill in your band but at this point but you do have swelling. If you are not newly banded but have just had a fill it could be a couple of things. Once again... right after a fill... I am back to small sips. Also, you could be too tight. A few days after my fill, when the swelling subsides, I can drink normal again without having to sip. One more thought... you might have irritated your esophogus (sp?) with too big a bite of food. When in doubt... call your doctor... that's what they are there for! Hope this helps... hang in there... it gets better every day and is so worth it!

    No one told me....

You will not always have to crush your pills... just in the beginning when your stomach is healing. I have had four fills and have 5 cc's in my 11 cc band now and can swallow my pills without crushing. Some are, what I consider, pretty big pills and I have no problems. Hang in there... it gets better every day and so worth it! I do occasionally miss an ice cold diet coke but wouldn't trade my band for one. Hope you are feeling better soon!

    A Real Meal

I felt the same way... even now at almost 10 months post op... I sometimes feel that same sensation. It depends on the time of day and the type of food but I can literally feel it going down. I only have 5 cc's in an 11 cc band so I would not say I am tight. I can eat most foods without any problem but any dry, dense meat will not work and I have not tried bread yet. Hope this info is helpful for you.
  9. The really noisy gut sounds will pass in a couple of weeks. However, I am still noisy on occasion... depending on what I eat and other circumstances. The diarrhea is due to the liquid diet... as you add mushies and then soft foods back to your diet things should get better in that department. Don't be surprised if you are gassier than usual and I can't say that gets any better with time. With all that said... I wouldn't change a thing... I would still chose to be banded. I love my band and the changes it has made in my life! Hang in there... it gets better every day!

    Port killing me!!

Beside the pain in my left shoulder from gas, the port pain was the worst! I too found it very helpful to alternate heat and ice to the port area... ice to reduce swelling and heat to reduce pain. Also, whenever I changed positions I found it helpful to apply pressure to the port area for security. It has become a habit and I find myself still holding my stomach when I go from a sitting to standing position. It is also helpful to hold the area when you cough or sneeze. I couldn't lay on my side for several weeks after surgery but eventually could if I put a pillow under the port area for support. Now... months later it is no problem! Hang in there... healing takes a while.

    stomach gurgles?

I hate to tell you this but my stomach still makes crazy gurgling noices all time and I am 8 months post op. Some days are louder than others but I have come to grips with the fact that my tummy is just gonna be gurgly. Gas... is the same way... some days are explosive and others are not as bad but since surgery... I am just gassy. It took several months to get back to normal in the bathroom. Even now after I have a fill and have to go on liquids... it takes a week or so to get back on track. You are not alone and I think all of the things you have mentioned are normal after lapband surgery. Hang in there... it gets better. Finally, my scars took a few weeks to heal and are not bad at all... still a little pink but I think that will fade in time. With all of that said... I wouldn't change a thing and I love my band as I have lost 50 pounds and 4 pant sizes. Not to mention... I feel great, have more energy and am healthier than I have been in years!

    Too full?

Yes... sounds like you are way too tight. Sometimes, just a very small unfill can make a huge difference. Call your Doc ASAP! You don't want to do damage to your new stomach and band. Good Luck!
  13. The girgling is a sure sign that you are too tight as is the vomiting. Go... as fast as you can and have a bit taken out... just a little bit can make a big difference. Being too tight and vomitting can cause your band to slip and you don't want that. Hope this helps!

    Tightness and Can't Burp

It took a couple of months after surgery to muster up even the tiniest burp. I had that same feeling you are having now every time I drank or ate. I also got really nauseated for the week to ten days post op. No worries though,,, I am 71/2 months post op now... 50 pounds down and I can now muster up a much more impressive burp. Hang in there... one day at a time... it gets better and life is good!
  15. Vitafusion Multi Vites are delicious and can be found at Sam's Club for a very good price.
  16. I had my first fill at 4 weeks post op... my second 6 weeks later, my third another 6 weeks later and finally... this past fill was 8 weeks later. I find that a couple weeks before a fill I can eat more than I think I should. Just try to stay with healthy choices and you will be OK!
  17. I had a fill on Monday, Nov. 8 and everything was ok as far as liquids go. I thought after the swelling went down... Saturday or Sunday... I would be able to eat normal food. However, that was not the case... it seemed to get worse as time went on. This morning... I had to sip my coffee super slow and it gurgled on the way down. After each sip... I felt the urge to burp. I called the doctor and went in for a small unfill. It has made all the difference in the world. No more pain in my chest... gurgling or burping. Hope this helps you decide.

    Afraid

I am right there with you Jodi. My lapband surgery was on May 28, 2010 and I am at the 5 1/2 month mark myself. I just had my 4th fill this past Monday. The other 3 were not hard at all as my doctor is not agressive with fills. He does not tell me the amount of Fluid he puts in. He said he doesn't want me focused on that. He did tell me that he only adds .5 cc's at a time. This time I have had more difficulty with swelling than ever before. I did Clear Liquids for 2 days, creamy Soups and yogurt for 2 days and then tried to move on to mushies. Woooaaaa... hold up... my stomach was not ready for that yet. I could only take a few bites of refried Beans and cheese and I was done. I have not thrown up since surgery but I thought I was going to. My mouth was watering like crazy but I was determined not to. I got up and walked around... went outside for some fresh air and the feeling passed as quickly as it came on. Today has been much better and it is amazing the difference a day can make! I totally understand your concern and fears. Ask your doctor for small fills so you wont have any issues. The band is a tool for life and it will take time for us to learn our new way of eating. I wish you the best!
  19. Liquids go down just fine and creamy soup is ok too. However, mushy food is really slow going down and I can only eat about 4 or 5 bites per meal. I am not having reflux at night so I don't think I am too tight but not sure. Is this normal? I appreciate your suggestions. Thanks!

    Hiccups!

When I hiccup... I know it is time to stop eating. If I am just getting started... I know I am eating to fast. If I am near the end of my meal... I take it as my sign that I am full. Crazy... I never used to hiccup before surgery. I don't mind it though.
  21. My doctor planned to give me a slight fill of 2CC's at surgery. Drinking at first was little sips at a time but I could do it. After a few days... I could take normal sips without a problem. Everyone is different though and our tolerences for fills may not be the same. My first fill took me to 3.5 CC's and back to the small sips for a few days. My second fill the doc wouldn't tell me how much but again... small sips for a few days. Hope this info helps!

    Surgery Tomorrow!

Nicole74... I wish I had known that I really needed a week off of work to recover. I had surgery on Friday and expected to go back on Monday morning. I was weak and nauseated and looked like HELL but I did manage to work half days. The following week... i was like a new woman. If there was one thing I wish I had done differently it would be to take the week off after surgery! It is the BEST thing I have ever done for myself. I will be 9 weeks post op tomorrow and have lost 35 pounds. Congrats!!!
