Kelly, Aside from the UTI from the catheter all has been well. No real pain, think my highest was a 4 on the scale. I hate the drains!! The compression thing is a pain- I think it makes me pee a lot. My wounds all look pretty good. I am glad I did it - looking forward to seeing the end result. I don't think I have stitches or staples- looks like glue. Not too sure I like my new belly button- lol

Will insurance pay for "cosmetic" surgery if its kinda medical
mauraclegg replied to gladiatrix83's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
A reduction can be covered- depending on your insurace. If would depend on things like back probs, rashes, etc -
Surgery done Friday- no issues. Didn't realize I was going to have a catheter (ick). When they removed catheter on Saturday ended up with a UTI (ouch) Pain pump in hospital only- home with percocet Drains are draining (gross), but pain is minimum

Problems with Constipation - prior to surgery
mauraclegg replied to YolandaSready's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had the same problem post surgery (well after the runs stopped). I have tried EVERYTHING - and tbh the best thing to resolve the situation is Benefiber (or generic alternative). You can mix it into anything and it's tasteless -
So excited! I think I've found the perfect PS!

Tummy tuck with 18 pounds left until goal. Questions...
mauraclegg replied to Twinkles's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I have about 20 lbs left to go and my surgeon didn't mention any second about doing my TT prior to goal. I am looking forward to being rid of the flab -
Been banded 14 months, total success IMO - lost 90 pounds and headed for my TT

New to lap band surgery
mauraclegg replied to us_plus3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was actually banded twice in 36 hours because of a slip immediately. I took the liquid mess they sent home a time or 2, but was mostly pain free with Tylenol, ice packs and a pillow. I also had a 20 lb weight limit for a month. But my husband was there to help with kids- my youngest was 13 months when I was banded -
First congratulations on getting banded, it was the best decision I ever made. Advice?? Hmmm, bring lose clothes to wear home, Popsicles are your friend for liquid diets, powerade zero is good!! Have pillows and ice for your tummy when you get home.

Why am I still defeding myself?
mauraclegg replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was banded last year people said things like,"well your not THAT FAT," and the like, my insurance company and I both disagreed with that assessment. I have lost about 85 lbs since I was banded and people tell me I look great, but when they do I still feel the need to point out my problem areas (hanging belly & bat wing arms). I think it helps me justify something. By the same token I am so proud of what I have done. It wasn't super hard either. I think by pointing out the work I still have left it helps me justify how easy the first 80 lbs came off You have done wonderfully- Celebrate your new YOU -
Does the lap band really work????
mauraclegg replied to cat lady's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Claire I was banded over a year ago and my best advice would be to ready your MIND for weight loss as well as your bod. -
:-( sorry about your situation. I can tell you that puking from food is not all that bad - it's not a true vomit feel. I haven't the foggiest about a sick vomit or medicine vomit. I hope all goes well for you and you don't get sick

How do you get your daily protein in?
mauraclegg replied to pzeadow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GNC sells a protein powder that is 60g of protein per shake -
My Lap Band, My Friend
mauraclegg replied to mauraclegg's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats on getting on the Bandwagon. Remember the change isn't just your band- it's ur mindset too -
I was banded June 8, 2010 and I am here to tell you that my band and I were successful. I have lost 82 lbs - in a year!! I am not malnourished or deprived. I am happy with the foods I can eat and super progress with the new and improved me. I have gone from a pants size 22 into a size 12 (loose). Next month I am going in for my TT to complete the losing part of my journey... I can't say enough about how happy I am (that's with a band slip & 1 overfill in my past). I wish everyone well on their journey, no matter which part of the journey they are on.

How happy are you with your body as you are losing weight?
mauraclegg replied to Joleen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have lost almost 90 lbs and while I am happier with my new size 10/12 frame, I am NOT all that happy with my hanging belly area. I am actually headed for my TT in august. I (like others) am more self-conscious now for some reason, but Spanx help. I love being able to get new clothes. I just wish I could wear a tight shirt with pride. -
I use Benefiber daily. If I don't I can't go
