Negative Attitudes regarding Plastic Surgery?
mauraclegg replied to Lori_K's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I haven't had my TT yet- it's scheduled for next month, but I do know what u mean. I also did my surgery for me, just as my TT is for me. I am not comfortable with my hanging tummy it makes me self-conscious- no matter how much weight I have lost. I had a good friend who started drifting away once I started losing. She is still heavy and does nothing about it. And it's not like I don't see her - we are neighbors, our kids play together, and my husband and her boyfriend are friends. My point is that when people drift after WLS it is their personal issue. Don't stress. Be proud of yourself and all you have done -
breast size b4 and after weight loss surgery
mauraclegg replied to DoingIt4Me!'s topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I started at around a 44DD+ have lost 80 pounds and I am a 38DD now, so no cup change here. Just lost pants size, shoes size and shirt size -
I feel very fortunate that my dr's office was able to get mine covered or it would have been Spanx for life for me.

Thanks Apples I hope you get your insurance approval soon. I really wish my skin had bounced back a better. I have lost 80 lbs in the year since my banding and have gone from a 22 to nearly a 10. I think my current weight is realistic - and everyone tells me how wonderful I look - but with this flab hanging in the front I am so self-conscious - still wearing my xxx t-shirts for the most part - it's funny I wasn't this self-conscious when I weighed over 260 lbs Keeping my fingers crossed for a quick approval & then a quick recovery for you

Thanks Sue. I will check it out. I don't like the hospital much either - I was in nearly 3 days when my band was put in last June because my first band slipped immediately - so I had it done twice within 36 hrs. But even with the annoyance of a slipped band and the chaos of a hospital it was quieter than my house typically is ( I have a 10 yr old g, a 4 yr old b, and 2 yr old

Thanks Sue. I am sure I will be terrified by the time July 13 gets here- lol. I will be a hot mess by then I am nearly positive. Luckily my hubby will be home take care of the kids (all 3 of em). How long is the typical hospital stay?

I used it before surgery & I am using it again now. My surgeon gave it to me last month because I stopped losing.

SO CONFUSED?????
mauraclegg replied to jamiesdoingit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whew, I thought I was the only person out there who can't eat bread or french fries (and I love french fries). I think when we eat some of the food stays in the pouch too. There are times that I feel full - leave the table - but find I am still hungry. I think that maybe I am partially stuck when that happens, and if it does I eat a spoonful of Peanut Butter. I think they tell us not to eat for an hour after to keep the pouch fuller - although I have also read the food is out of the pouch within 5 minutes. Pretty confusing. Listen to your body. I know if I drink when I am eating - well it causes the food (often times) to come back up. I don't wait an hour to drink - at least 20 minutes though. I also find the busier I am the less hungry I am. If I take the kids outside after dinner then I am not as likely to snack because we are out until it's time for them to go to bed. -
I'm having lots of tummy growls (diarrhea) sorry

The shoulder pain could be from the gas used in surgery
-
I didn't quit- no complications at all. I think I even had a cig on the way too the hospital

Anyone else obsessed with the scale after surgery?
mauraclegg replied to isabella2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 11 months out and I weigh daily. Like someone else said I count the losses and shrug at the little gains. I am 80 lbs down now and have been here for a couple months. It's frustrating- but trying diff things to try and lose like higher caloric intake more protein and more water -
What are the must have medications to have prepared?
mauraclegg replied to Sheran4eva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Liquid Tylenol, heating pad & ice (for incisions) and extra pillows -
I can't seem to get this sipping water thing down!

11 months out here, and I drink normally. There are times I take a big gulp and I totally feel it and realize I need to chill a bit. But haven't had liquids stuck.... all systems normal for drinking since day 1 after banding for me
