dissapointed
mauraclegg replied to hopeful2 be slim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Vrinda I found a Protein drink at GNC that has 60 grams of protein per shake. I am not a vegetarian but I am a very picky eater and I found that shake gives me the minimum of protein called for by most in a day. I have even added a scoop of Peanut Butter for extra flavor and protein. I know that humus is also high in protein - maybe try that with some celery. Carbs are a hard thing to cut out. I know I love my carbs, but I find I am fuller faster and longer when I cut them out. -
I cheated a little...feel so bad.

I was on liquids for a week post-op and then my doc let me move onto mushys. I was so sick of popsicles and Jello - I was grateful that it was only a week post-op. I can't really count the 2 weeks pre-op because I did cheat pre-op. Don't feel guilty. Soup is a liquid - you'll be fine, just don't over do it because those Soups can pack some calories in em -
personally I am all for supporting those who are looking for support. I was banded without a support group, except for me myself and I. I would love to be able to help those who are looking for true help and are all about helping themselves too - it was the complaining that was getting to me (as the OP). Trust me, I would love to go out and eat some pizza or go to McDonalds and eat a large french fries, but I know I would puke and gain wait if I did that.

Thank you Wheel!! You said it all much better than I did.

While I can see how my post can be construed as negative it really wasn't meant to be. I was merely expressing frustration at how some people are complaining abt lack of weight loss, but not working with their band. We all got banded because we were unsuccessful in our independent weight loss attempts and I think it is wonderful to have a forum to come to. My post was coming more from the direction of thinking about the yet unbanded and their reading the negativity I am sorry that people are taking my post as negative. It is not how I meant for it to be taken. I know we all get frustrated and don't have a perfect experience (I know I am FAR from perfect). So again I am sorry to anyone offended by my opinion

I would say that reaching a plateau is normal - it's terribly frustrating I know. Have u tried more protein? I was basically plateaued since February - but I upped my protein intake and started a new exercise routine (hula-hoop for 30 min p/day) and the scale is actually moving -
DISGUSTED!! Waste of time!
mauraclegg replied to nipper75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nipper, I am sorry u are having trouble. Are you restricted and are u watching your protein/hydration/portions? I find if I do not have protein and water- and lots of it- I just don't lose. I know counting calories is a pain, but it does help to put things in perspective -
I absolutely LOVE my PS!!!
mauraclegg replied to Cherishthepast's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I know my lapband surgeon was able to get my TT easily approved as "medically necessary" due to hanging flesh and rashiness. I wish u the best -
Not having the TT done by a ps my lapband surgeon does it. I am going to call the office tmrw though. And if they will do it I am getting a fill when I get back from vaca Thank you for ur help

I am excited for u too. I am looking forward to my TT and I am not horribly anxious about the pain. I am looking forward to hearing how you are doing and progressing.

How much do you worry about the complications?
mauraclegg replied to spoiltmom's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Do you worry about this? How do you put it I have Heard the same from people, but I tell them that I could get struck by lightning or run over by a run away bus too I don't live terrified of "what if's". If I were I prob wouldn't have been banded. So yes- anything CAN happen- but IMO the end result (a happier me) is worth it -
When I started losing last year I swear I was sweating like I never have before - even started using my husband's deodorant. Now that summer is back so is my sweat- I think it's pretty normal. I know if it's a problem a dermatologist can give botchilism injections in underarms to stave off the sweating

anybody have a slip fixed by surgery?
mauraclegg replied to MelissaNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would think they will replace/repair quickly. Can't believe they are having you wait. I can't inagine it would be a comfortable few days waiting to see the doc On another note I know when I am stuck (which I am right now) if I take a sip of liquids I will definitely expel the stuck item (French fry). But alas I am not home so I am just sitting here waiting to see if it passes -
How exciting Jerzee How come so many compression devices for TT and Lipo? Did you have full body done? I am only about a month away from my TT now and I am growing more and more excited to be rid of the excess skin that I now think looks like a set of freakin udders on my midsection - although not looking forward to the pain

If a slip happens nothing goes through your band, not even saliva (in my case( -
My weight loss crawled to a near stop in Feb and I also asked for advice/help here. The best advice I got was to up my protein & water intake. I recently bought a new protein drink that has 60g per serving and my weight is again dropping

anybody have a slip fixed by surgery?
mauraclegg replied to MelissaNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My band slipped IMMEDIATELY after it was placed, so I had a second surgery the next night. I still really have nothing bad to say. It happened and once it was fixed I felt fantastic and aside from 1 overfill I haven't looked back -
I guess I was lucky all the way around, my surgeon and the support staff in the office didn't sugar coat things at all. I also did a lot of research on my own, so my eyes were wide open. It is not good if people are being misinformed -

I think I would go ahead with the banding, just continue to be aware abs watchful of it after Good luck to u
