  1. I have not been there yet. I had JUST a consultation scheduled, and then the Dr canceled 'cause he was sick. So, I called back to reschedule, and told her I wanted a fill. She asked when my last fill was. I told her 3/16. She said the recommend that I wait 4-6 weeks for the next one and scheduled my appt for May 1st. I think I'll call back and verify that he'll give me a fill and a consultation at the same time, though. Thanks for the heads up!

PB Question - Just had one! Help!

Thank you all for your replies. I feel much better now. I tried to take it easy today, but I think I'll do just liquids tomorrow. I am still feeling a tad sore. This really sucks. I feel like I have a ticking time bomb in my stomach now. Off to review the band rules....

    Stomach bug and the band

I had a stomach virus two weeks ago. I did throw up once, after trying VERY hard not to. I had my fill with Dr. K just a few days later and told him what had happened. He told me not to worry, but obviously I don't want to do it to often. (never again in my book!) I called him for some anti-nausea medicine when I was sick, but he was out of the office for his daughter's wedding. The only thing I had was the anti-nausea suppositories that I had left from after surgery. I used a few and didn't throw up any more. Since I didn't want to keep using those though, I ended up going to the local walk-in clinic and got a prescription for some anti-nausea medicine that dissolves in your mouth. (I had a fever too. I wanted to make sure I didn't have the flu) The Dr. warned me that it was very expensive, and she wasn't kidding. $40.00 for 9 pills, after insurance! Yikes! I ended up not needing them (I used the samples she gave me) so I have them saved for a rainy day.
  4. Drewslou!! You're lookin' awesome. And your kitchen floor sort of goes with the skates. Kind of a 50's theme...
  5. How is that different from a steri-strip? Maybe I just had the tegaderm then on the outside?
  6. Shesha

    can you believe this????!!!!

Yes, I am loving the weather!! We had our daughter outside in her wagon this afternoon. She loved it!! It was her first time walking around in the yard too (she's only 16 months old). She didn't want to come inside.
  7. I had Dr. Kirshenbaum too, but I think all he did was use disolvable sutures on the inside and steri-strips on the outside. I know I asked him what he'd use and I do not recall him mentioning tegaderm. What is tegaderm?
  8. Today, I wore a pair of pants to work that I haven't worn since 2002! Woo hoo! Also, went to Lane Bryant and bought some jeans. I am down from a 24 to a 22 - and even those were a tad loose. I should have went with the 20's, but I hate it when my spare tire rolls over my waistband!
  9. My husband has no idea how much I weigh. He had to guess for a Health Assessment questionaire for our health benefits and was way off. When I was pregnant, he came to every one of my prenatal Dr. visits. Toward the end I was going almost twice a week. Anyway, he knew that he wasn't supposed to hear or see how much I weighed! He would "assume the position" around the corner, and the nurse knew not to say my weight out loud!! Too funny!! The day before I gave birth I was 296. Had baby girl gone the full 40 weeks, I would have hit the big 300 for sure! I made sure to thank her for coming into this world early!

    Yep. $15.00, as in a $10 and a $5. $15.00!

Oh my! There are so many! The Casa Bonita episode is right up there. Ah... Cartman gets an Anal Probe. Chef's Salty Balls! OH, and my husband and I almost DIED while watching the one where they have to play that computer game to kill the player who is killing everyone else. The scene where they are playing the game for days, they all have zits and have gained about 50 lbs each, too funny! Then, to top it off, Cartman calls up to his mother via intercom "Ma! bathroom!!" and she brings down a bucket for him to poo in, and it gets all over the place!!!!! We almost died of laughter!!!! I am sure I'll be back when I think of a few more!

Fill Dr.'s in Wisconsin or Illinois?

Otherwise, call Dean Care Comprehensive Weight management in Madison, WI. 250.00 for the initial visit and $125.00 per fill. I will be having mine done by Dr. Sunby there. Again, I am unsure about the Mexican band thing.

Fill Dr.'s in Wisconsin or Illinois?

My surgeon, Dr Kirshenbaum in Denver, does fills for $15.00. I am not sure he'll do fills for Mexican bands though.
  14. I agree with Woofay. Are you clothes fitting better? How about your measurements? I'll bet your body is building muscle and getting used to all that activity. Once it realizes that "this is how it's gonna be", I'll bet you start losing again!

    I am 5'8" and 185lbs (40-45 lbs overweight)

You currently have a BMI of 28.1 If you lost 25 lbs, you'd be at a BMI of 24.3 - which is considered healthy. BMI Categories: Underweight = <18.5 Normal weight = 18.5-24.9 Overweight = 25-29.9 Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater I am not sure I would go through surgery for 25 lbs.
  16. Hi All! Well, I am thinking my fill must be just right. It's weird, because I haven't REALLY been hungry since I was filled. It's only been when I find myself slightly hungry, or "according to the clock it's lunch time", that I've been eating. I really have to get it in my head to only eat when I physically need it, and I am sure that will happen. This is what I ate today. Breakfast - Nothing, I wasn't really hungry. I did take two bites of a Shamrock Sugar Cookie (yes, I know - but I didn't have any green beer, so I celebrated with a cookie) and could fell it against the band. I have found out that I am pretty tight in the morning. Lunch - Around 11:00 hubby and I went to Subway. I had the child size ham sub (3") with tomato and spinich. I was able to eat the whole thing in about 35 minutes. I also had a few Baked Lays potato chips. Snack - Kashi Protein bar. I ate that over the course of about 1 hour. dinner - (this is where the chicken comes in) Hubby and I went to the grocery store and got an 8 piece broasted chicken dinner from the deli. I cut up about a thumb size piece of chicken breast into small pieces and ate it at, what I thought, was a slow pace. WELL... long story short, I got a terrible golf ball pain in my chest, gas like pain in my upper back, and then I PB'd!!! OH MY! I then spent about 5 minutes spitting slime into the toilet. YUCK!!!! After about an hour, I then made myself two scrambled eggs and had no problem eating them. For dessert, I treated myself to a little bowl of strawberry ice cream. (Normally, I don't eat this many "treats" but I had the stomach flu for a few days, so I figure I am ok calorie wise. I DO NOT want to get into a habit of eating "treats" all the time!) So, so far so good. I am really going to have to learn how to listen to my body to determine when I should be eating. I also need to SLOW down and CHEW more!
  17. btw.. I see you are doing really well, and without a fill! Almost to Two-terville!
  18. I'll keep you posted. I just read so much about how people get overfilled and that's when problems develop. I figured I was much better off with too little than too much! I just hope it will be worth the day off, $200.00 in airfare and hotel and car rental fees!!
  19. I agree with DrewsLou, I sat in his office for a while today, and that phone hardly stopped ringing! I asked Marilyn and Robin how many surgeries Dr.K did in a month, but they just smiled...
  20. Hi there! I had my first fill with Dr. K today. Trying to determine if the fill was good or not with the water was so hard to do! We finally decided that 1.6 cc's was good, I said my good bye's and left. Well, then I tried to eat some lunch. I took two small bites of a well chewed chicken breast and ugh! golf ball! I tried again later and couldn't keep water down. Soooo, I called up Dr. K's office and he took me in again this afternoon and through trial and error again, we removed 2 - 10ths of a cc, so now I am at 1.4. Well, I was able to eat and drink a small but fair amount of food for dinner. Now I am afraid I had him take too much out!! UGH!!! How fickle! I am sure things will change tomorrow, but I know I had too much in before. I just wish I would have had him stop removing saline at 1.5 instead of 1.4 cc's. Any words of wisdom would be helpful! Thanks!
  21. Hey Michelle, I recovered fairly quickly. I wasn't that out of shape to begin with, so I was able to get in and out of bed with very little pain, just a bit of discomfort (like you did a ton of situps the day before) As for stairs, no problem. Everyone's different though. I would do as much as you can in regards to cleaning and shopping before you go for surgery, that way, you can just go home and relax for a few days. I'd say the most trouble I had was caring for my 14 month old, and even that was minimal. Daddy had to step in for a few days, changing diapers and lifting her into her crib. I felt normal after about 3 or 4 days. The only difference is that I could feel my steristrips rubbing on my clothes and stuff. =o) Sheila
  22. Yes, I saw Dr. K at about 10:00 the next morning. It was good that I went to see him, since the steri strip on my port incision got loose, and when I showered that morning, water seeped in. He cleaned and rebandaged it right there for me. I did not fly home the next day, but two days after surgery. I was really tired the day after and a tad sore, but I could have flown home if I needed to. Just take some pain medicine to keep the edge off. =o)
  23. Hey Machele. I am scheduled with Dr. K at 11:45 on 3/16 for my fill! I fly in at 9:00 that morning and ly home around 10:00 the following day, so I doubt we'll be able to meet. I wish you well and I'll be sure to tell Dr. K to be extra nice to ya!
  24. I'll be getting my fill on 3/16. Do you have a bout that night?
  25. I have a 15 month old and was just banded. My doc told me that ideally, I shouldn't lift anything over 10 lbs for a couple of weeks, but knew that it probably wasn't realistic, so told me to "do what you have to do, just be careful the first few days" I had my husband with me to carry her in the airport and put her in the car seat for the first day or so, she sat on my lap the entire way home on the plane. She pushed on my stitches/abdomen a few times, but I nothing I couldn't tollerate. After a day or so, I was able to care for her. I'd use my legs to lift her and kept her on my hip.Or, I'd slide her to my lap if I was sitting, then would stand up from there. I did change diapers on the floor, but it is kind of hard to get up off the floor those first couple of days. Just change baby near the bed or something so you can us it for support to help you stand up. Changing baby on the bed might even be your best bet. I was a quick healer though, by day 2 I felt pretty good. I had surgery on a Thursday and was back to work the following Monday.
