Total confusion!!!!!
missgypsy replied to chris1021's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
me personally i would go to the other seminar. she sounds slightly off her rocker lol. when i went to my seminar they explained ALL of the diff surgeries and weren't biased on one or the other. everyone looses weight at diff paces but i've never heard that you have to exercise that much in a month. yes exercising does help the weight come off faster but i don't exercise all the time and it's coming off just fine. trust your gut and do what you think is best for YOU!! good luck! if you have any questions send me a mssg and i'll try to answer them. -
Tricare- will I qualify?
missgypsy replied to BandedJenny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm tricare prime and my pcm is on post but i had my surgery off post. my bmi was low at lil over 36. i have heard and read all the horror stories about tricare and being approved. i had to fight to get my surgery because my local tricare off kept saying no and wouldn't let me have a second opinion. needless to say i went over heads and contacted the regional director and i got my second opinion. which determined i qualified to have the surgery. i would suggest that you go in and talk to your pcm. according to what you put as your height and weight your bmi is 41.1 so you wouldn't need any co-morbidities. they can lead you in the right direction. are you looking to have the surgery on or off post? -
i thought it was pot...lol i've lead a very sheltered life.:blushing:

What are you craving???
missgypsy replied to missgypsy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the smell of anything fried makes me wanna hurl. i've eaten a few fries and then pay dearly for it later. not worth it at all. -
For the past few weeks I've been craving cupcakes. no icing, just the cake part of it. i don't care at this point what flavor either lol. i have a few reasons why i don't go ahead and eat one. 1. i'm afraid it will get stuck 2. if it doesn't get stuck then i will 'think' i can eat another one 3. i looked at the calories and i about fainted lol the craving is almost gone. but what do you all do when you crave something? eat it, ignore it or what?

What foods can't you eat?
missgypsy replied to tle5000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
oh gosh lets see...cole slaw, pork chops, steak, haven't tried bread, rice, pasta, hot dogs, polish sausage or anything like that. sometimes things go down ok and the next time they won't. i pretty much stick to whats safe for me. -
I am so excited!! Yesterday we were watching tv and on came the commercial about zumba. Hubby looked at me and said go ahead and order it. My dr keeps telling me to do it so I figured why not lol. I can't wait till it gets here and I can get started on it. Looks like so much fun. I can't dance for anything but this might actually help me out. Told him now maybe if I know how to dance when we go military funcations/balls and they have the dance afterwards I won't be such a wall flower lol. :cursing:

Has anyone had any problems eatting cole slaw? i ate some night before last and it just hasn't agreed with me at all. yes i also ate some baked beans but i eat beans alllll the time and they don't bother me at all. yest my tummy hurt and i was slightly bloated and gassy. last night finally took some gasx. today it feels like someone punched me in the stomach. i'm thinking probably because i am sore from the gas. so is this a food that bandsters have probs with or not? i don't know if this has anything to do with it or not but monday my dr changed my blood pressure meds from 20 mg down to 10 mg. it's a lower dose but don't know if it has anything to do with it. any advice is appreciated. thanks

i feel so much better thanks. i do believe it was the cole slaw. so no more for me . but it's ok, lots of other foods i can eat.

May 2010 Bandsters--Check In!
missgypsy replied to KidLaw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was also banded the 20th. so far have lost 35 lbs and 26 1/2 inches. i had a fill about 8 wks ago of 4 cc's. i don't go back till sept 20th. yes i think i need a fill lol. i am starting to get very frusterated about loosing and then the next week i am at stand still. when i talked to my dr last time i went in he said i was doing awesome and doesn't want me loosing too fast. i still have some restriction tho. monday hubby and i are going to start bike riding. so i'm sure that will help. on an upside to it all i went in to see my pcm and had to see another dr but my blood pressure meds were lowered from 20 mg to 10. -
i was told i could drive as long as i wasn't on the pain meds.

solids would be normal foods. things you have to chew chew chew and chew some more lol.

Not sure what I am doing wrong!
missgypsy replied to patsal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
have you thought about upping your protien to more then what you are eatting now? when i get hungry my dr tells me to eat more protien and if i am hungry in between meals eat some fruit or drink water. i wouldn't worry about home much is in the band because your dr will know that part of it. i'd go back to eatting off on a saucer. just because you can eat that much doesn't mean that you should. -
HELP!!! Having diarrhea on PUREE diet!!!
missgypsy replied to Snuffles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i would try to add more fiber in your diet but i'd also skip the rice. are you having probs with toast at all? yes i know some peeps can eat it with no probs but most can't. i had the same prob and my dr told me sometimes it takes your body a lil while to get used to things. your body is changing as well. you were just banded about 2 wks ago and thats really not long at all. -
i haven't really noticed that the underwire really bugs me but i am noticing that i am taking my bras off earlier at night. if i know i don't have anywhere else to go off it comes and i let the girls out lol

Eating is not as enjoyable as it used to be!
missgypsy replied to LapBandBobbi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
at times yes i feel the same way. now that my eating habits have changed and we are eating healthier i am back in the kitchen cooking. when i was first banded that was the last place i wanted to be but i LOVE cooking and i LOVE looking at new recipes. so now i look for healthier recipes and i fix them. some kinda suck but some are rather yummy!! i have learned to take pleasure in the foods and really savor them. before i don't think i actually tasted them but now that i have to eat slower and chew longer i get the real taste of the food. some foods i have found out i really don't care for anymore and some that i didn't like at all i am craving- beans. who'd have thunk it??? lol -
Thank you!!

I am so super duper excited today!! I finally reached my halfway goal! Now just 34 more lbs to go. Seems like it's taking forever but then I sat down and looked at the calendar and I was band May 20th so no it hasn't been long at all. I'm thinking I orderd my Zumba DVD's were ordered at the right time lol. We also bought bikes for all of us this last week-end. My idea and hubs was going huh :smile2: lol. I also talked him into taking me golfing again. I had to promise I wouldn't hit him with the ball again (oooopssss). Really it wasn't my fault lol . Just wish the weather would cooperate and not be so darn hot because I just can't take the heat anymore. Woohooo For me!!! So yep I'm excited.

i was told to wait for 6 wks to do any kind of strenous exercise but he did tell me to walk. i would think as long as you are moving and not hurting yourself or causing yourself any pain it would be ok. just take it easy. you might want to call your surgeon and just ask to be on the safe side. couldn't hurt since every dr anymore seems to be different. good luck!!
-
yes i ordered the total transformation. https://www.zumbafitness.com/flare/next i'm excited!!! we also bought bikes this last week-end. so it looks like bike riding for the entire family. hope i don't fall off and hurt myself lol. :smile2:

i live basically right across the street from the military base and i did check to see if they had the classes but i think maybe after i get the hang of it i might venture out and go to one. i don't want to look absolutly insane or anything lol. but i'm excited and hubby said he'd do it with me. ok i might just not take him up on that either lol.
-
do you eat alot of protien? that helps me stay fuller longer so i'm not so hungry. also if you will eat that first then move on to whatever else is on your plate you won't be hungry anymore. i would talk to my doctor and see if he/she might want you to go see a nutritonist to help you figure out what to eat. i eat pretty much the same thing as the rest of the family but if they are having burgers and fries i skip the fries and will have pork n beans or something like that with mine.

Discouraging friends anyone?
missgypsy replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
family and friends all seem to do that at one time or another. my family is very supportive of me. it makes it lots easier when they are like that. if i didn't have my mom or my husband behind me i would be lost. now friends they are a different story. i've lost friends and it's ok. was just there time to go- they served there purpose in my life. i have one friend who had the bypass and gained her weight back and now has an ulcer. so no not all surgeries are going to work for everyone. i think it's had bad you want it to how well it will work for you. we all did this for ourselves. no one is going to do it for us. good luck!! :cursing: -
i had this conversation today with my dr. yes apples are ok just chew chew chew. if the skin bothers you peel it but he said chew them really well. good luck!!!
