Well if you are concerned about going to the bathroom go get some milk of magnesia and take it. works wonders and usually withing 30 mins to 6 hrs. also you aren't eating enough calories. how many grams of protein are you getting per day? your body thinks you are starving it so it's went into feast or famon and so it's storing everything you eat. are you on mushies or sold food? what do you normally eat in a day?
  2. breakfast- protein shake snack- 2 slices of turkey breast then got stuck. wow oh wow that hurt!!! lunch- crab salad, 5 crackers, yogurt with kashi granola sprinkled on top snack- protein shake dinner- 2 egg ham and ceese omelet. ate about 3/4 of it then finished the rest of my kashi to get the full 9 grams of protein in
  3. i go back every 6 wks for a check up. now i don't have a fill everytime either. i've only had 2 since being banded in may. have you thought about not having the bread, starch, rice and bagel? carbs will make you feel hungrier faster. i'd start there and start substituting something else in it's place. yogurt or eggs for breakfast, even cereal if it's low carb and high in protien. kashi has some good one's, oatmeal, cream of wheat. using lettuce as a wrap for the sandwich instead of bread. do you have snacks? you can have sugar free jello, pudding and such. The United States Department of Agriculture sets a serving size for fruit or vegetables to be equal to about one-half cup. Greens like spinach and lettuce have a serving size equal to one full cup. One serving of sliced fruit is equal to one-half cup; however a single piece of fruit, such as an apple or an orange counts as one serving.
  4. Well so far today just a protein shake and a bottle of water. Lunch will be yogurt with kashi granola, crab salad and maybe a few crackers. Dinner is leftovers tonight. Will either be enchilada casserole, pork tenderloin or meatloaf. Depends on whatever everyone else grabs before me lol. Will have another protein shake later this afternoon. Maybe some hot mint tea with splenda later on tonight. Not a very exciting day for food around here. I just wanted to get the leftovers gone and out of the fridge.

    Confused!!!

    Why don't you let the dr decide it any fluids need to be taken out? just be honest with them and tell them whats going on. i really doubt if you will get a fill if you are having probs like that. and please remember you are only to loose on average 1-2 lbs a wk. are you slime, pb and get stuck do you continue to eat normally or do you go to liquids and mushy's? anytime anything gets stuck you will have swelling and if you continue to have the same probs everything is going to get irritated and swollen. it's a complete circle over and over again.

    ugh please help.

    I haven't had to deal with anything like this but I did have this question since you said they tried taking some fluid out of the band. did you have some in it? and is it empty now? if there is some in it they may need to remove all of it and let your tummy settle down and the swelling go down. hope you get to go home soon!!
  7. You are doing GREAT!!!!! Really if you count it up you've been banded what 7 wks now? and already have 2 fills? Most ppl don't even get a fill until 6 wks or so. you can't go off of what everyone has lost or what they have in there band- we are all different. i'm almost 6 months out and i only have 4.5 ccs in my band, have lost 46-47 lbs and 36 inches. so some had that a few months out. what works for one may not work for another. 32 lbs is awesome and as far as the 16 lbs of muscle you need to remember your body is still healing. the swelling it still going down. at some point when we heal our body goes into this stand still mode. it's going hey what are you doing to me? and it just stops doing everything all together. so what you are doing it the correct thing. just keep up doing what you are doing!! don't always count on that mean nasty scale- it's evil lol. do you measure? i bet if you started to do that and log it you'd see where you are loosing. inches are just as important as lbs. so really don't beat yourself up. You are really doing an awesome job! :thumbup: and as far as the meds if you start feeling as if your blood pressure meds are to much call your dr again. if you have to get a blood pressure cuff or go to walmart or somewhere and take it at different times of the day and write it down. that way you can show them whats going on. they aren't going to know unless you speak up. they think everything is A-ok. and also you must remember some meds you can't go off of immediatly they must be tapered off. so just give it some time and listen to your body. if you feel like something isn't right then call them. An important fact of about marriage counseling is that the therapist, doctor, counselor, or whoever may be leading the sessions, are merely there to offer their insightful knowledge, unbiased opinions, guidance, and support. I do understand where you are coming from about the money aspect of it all. I'm really sorry you are having to deal with all of this. Have you just sat down without any interruptions from kids, tv, phones or anything and just talked to him? He really may not realize what he is doing is hurting your feelings and your marriage? Sometimes men just come off being an ass when really they don't mean it that way. My hubby does it and I will call his hand on it. He does say he is sorry and he didn't realize how he came off. In other words he's not going to know unless you speak up. Puke it out, get it out in the open and move on. At least he will know where you stand. He might act like an ass for a while (because you called him out) but eventually he might actually come around. Gaining 15 lbs I do believe is just as excuse and thats not going to make your boobs plump back up there. DOes he think if you gain 15 lbs and then gain some more and more then other men won't find you as attractive as they do now? Maybe he just doesn't know how to handle you looking like you do and all that. I really do hope it works out for you. (hugs)

    Medical ID bracelets...

    I wear one and personally I feel nekkie if i don't have it on. i make the pretty bracelet part and they look very similar to that. you can get all the stuff at a craft store or walmart. i'd rather wear one and be safe then sorry. and if i had a boob job then i'd prob put that info in it too. if you don't want anyone to know then you don't have to let them read it because it's on your arm. but if your able to talk then thats a different story all together. thanks for the link- they are pretty!! :thumbup:

    Approved Snacks for Liquid Diet

    From what I'm gathering as I read it you can have any of those items you listed as a 'meal'. Did they say you can have a snack? I'd call and just make sure, couldn't hurt and then you'd know 100% instead of guessing.
  11. Ok well I missed the support meeting the other night since hubs got off work late and we didn't get to go. I was going to ask them but I will ask you all instead. Ok with the holidays coming up and I know this is going to be a difficult time for some of us how do you go about eating at other ppls houses? Yes I know only eat what is safe for you and all that but you all know some of these foods we don't have all the time. How do you know if it's going to be a 'safe' food for you? I got into a conversation with my mom today about thanksgiving dinner. She is making such a big deal out of it and I suggested it just be something very simple. She went into the entire spill of the dressing/stuffing to do with the turkey breast. I told her hubs doesn't really like it, the kids won't touch it so I'm the only one that usually eats it. She says your sister used to love it (we lost my sister in July) but I'm not going to eat her portion since she's not here lol. But this yr I am staying away from it. I don't eat bread or cornbread for that matter. I was told both are no no's. She told me oh a few spoonfulls won't hurt you. Huh?!?!?!?! NO thank you!! I don't want dessert either. She is always telling me how well I'm doing and how proud she is of me, then why would she think thats ok? How does everyone else deal with eating during the holidays and ppl trying to force food on you? It's my ultimate decision on what goes on my plate and what goes in my mouth.

    Band too tight?

    yes i would most deff call in the morning. you are to be getting 1 oz every 20 mins. thats what i was told when i started out. if he took out 1 1/2 cc's there might be the chance he left some in it. you are swollen after surgery and then if he put a fill in it it's going to feel tighter. it takes normally about 4-6 wks for all the swelling to go down and you to really begin to heal from the surgery. can you call his office and get in contact with an answering service and see what your dr wants you to do? if you aren't careful you will get dehydrated in a hurry.

    thanks for all the advice. i just really wish holidays and food was simple. when i am here at home with hubs and the kiddos i don't go out of my way to make anything extra. we all usually eat the same things and my oldest some has severe food allergies. just makes more sense to me to do it that way so no one feels left out. now every so often i will make something special for someone if they don't like what the rest of us are eating. i'm not going to force them to eat it lol. i just had a fill last mon so i eat less then what i did before then. i'm bound and determined to loose weight during the holidays :smile2:.
  15. I can do eggs and eat them often. Now I can't do pork chops, steak, mushrooms or cole slaw. If it's any kind of ground meat I can do it. Haven't attempted rice, pasta or bread. Don't plan on it either.

    also wanted to say as you loose weight you can adjust the bracelets and make the smaller or better yet just give them to someone that has had surgery and is wearing a band.

  18. protein is supposed to help the hair from falling out but you must also realize that hormones and thyroid play a big part in it also. some ppl actually loose some hair after they have a major surgery. i make sure i have all my protein and my hair is falling out but my hormones are also out of kilter too. i've lost 44-45 lbs since may so 55 lbs is ALOT.

    Fill #2 Today!

    I had my second fill yest. He only gave me .5 cc because I already had 4. I could feel it last night and today when I had soup for lunch. I qas banded May 20th and he did the fill at my 6 wk check up and I haven't had anything since then. Do you not do liquids that day and the next day or just mushy foods?

    they've done that to me also and i make the excuse that i got stopped at the gate because they are doing 100% ID ck. what are they going to do call and see lol? i hate sitting there waiting for them and then if you go to the desk and remind them they act like it's an inconvience for them to go and ck...

    i feel for ya!! really i do...been going round and round with my drs lately also.your miltary right? would they not let you leave a mssg with your pcm and tell them you need more referral to continue seeing your surgeon? or do you have to go off post for your pcm? at this moment i dislike all military drs lol.

    i fixed hubby and the boys homemade chicken nuggets and mash taters. for myself i made crock pot bean and bacon soup. now i just need to portion it out and put it in the freezer for future meals. :thumbup:
