  1. Just had my lap band removed on 2/14/18. Originally, placed on 6/9/2010. I had lost weight and within the last 18 months started have complications. Doc found that 90% of my band had eroded and was on the inside of my stomach. The surgery and recovery have been absolutely horrible. I haven’t had solid food in over a month and liquids for the last almost 2 weeks. I would not recommend the lap band at this point. My WLS does not do them anymore. Too many complications with them.
  2. Hi everyone! I am feeling a bit frustrated. I was banded on June 9, 2010 and have lost 51 lbs. I am very happy with that. I am frustrated because it doesn't seem that I can stay full longer than 2.5 hrs. I have 6.5 cc in a 10 cc band. I follow the fiber and protein rule. I know I'm hungry because my stomach growls so bad and so loud. I have some restriction. Any advice on how to stay fuller longer? Thanks everyone! :0)
  3. I was banded on June 9, 2010 and have lost a total of 52 pounds. I feel great and I'm so happy that I was banded!
  4. Congratulations!!! It's such a great feeling!!! I recently went form being able to wear blue jeans everyday at work to business casual, so I had to buy some new things. I have found a lot of new things at Sears in my area. I bought 3 shirts and a pair of pants for $29 this week. I don't want to spend a ton of money because I am still losing. I have found that tailoring is kind of expensive. Keep the momentum! :0)

    2 days post op

Walking helps ALOT!! I am almost 3 weeks out and my port site is still pretty sore. From what I understand, being sore in the port area for awhile is pretty common. I took my pain meds every 4-6 hours for the first 3 days. Don't over do it, but walking every hour or so will help, even if its pacing back and forth down a hallway. Within a week you'll be feeling much better!

    So glad I'm here!!

I had my surgery on June 9. I told only a handful of people. I realized after having the surgery why I didn't tell a bunch of people. My sister in law asked if we were going to attend a family party on Saturday and my husband told her no, that I had a hernia repaired and wasn't up to it. Which, isn't a lie, I did also have a hernia repaired at the same time. In less than a hour, my sister had posted something on my Facebook wall about me having surgery. If I wanted people to know don't you think that I would have put it out there? Thank goodness for the delete option! I don't want people asking me a bunch of questions. If someone asks how I am losing weight, I will be honest, but I am not going to advertise it. It's my business and it's private. There are too many people in this world who are judgemental and will spread your business to anyone who will listen. Especially, in the environment I work in. It's an office full of women who gossip. Good luck to everyone! Wether you tell or not, it's your decision and you know what the best decision for you is! Take care!
  7. I was banded yesterday, 6/9. Feeling pretty good, soreness and really tired. I can't believe it finally happened!

    Night before surgery

I am exactly 1 week away from surgery. Next week at this time I will be "banded." I am nervous/excited. I have alot going through my mind as well. I can't imagine how I will be the night before. Everything will go well and you'll be on your road to a "new you." Sending good thoughts your way!

    Any June Bandsters???

I am being banded on June 9 by Dr. Mindy Lane in Lansing, MI. I am on day 5 of the pre-op liquid diet. It's not as bad as I thought it would be. I am so nervous/excited. My doctor has her patients use the New Direction shakes. I recommend the chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. The best part was that during the mandatory 6 week nutrition/educational classes she has you attend you get to try a different flavor every week. It was nice to know what to expect. Good luck to everyone and I can't wait to read all the week 1 stories!
