Hi there, I am 4 weeks post op and it hurts when you breath because there is still co2 gas in your muscles from the surgery, your shoulder or chest may be sore for about 7 to 10 days after surgery. It is normal. Don't excersice at this point it will only rip your stiches out and that will set your healing back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is normal to be sore around your port you may even still have brusing, it will hurt off and on for about a month or so but it will get better. I can finally sleep on my side and my incisions are healing well but I still have stiches after a month. Keep on your liquid diet and when you get on normal food in 3 weeks you can go back to excersing. For now walking around your block is good.

how do you know if your too tight?
Canadian Girl replied to janaey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there, I too have trouble eating chicken and fish. I think it gets stuk in my band and it sometimes really hurts. I just chew more and eat slower. I haven't vomited yet but usually my mouth waters alot too. So I can relate. From what your discribing you band my be to tight, but it looks like you have done well by losing 55 lbs. I was banded on July 20, 2010 and have lost 27lbs. when I went back on normal foods I gained a few lbs back but now they are coming off as I know I need to eat about 1100 calories per day or I will not loss weight. If it bothers you that your band is to tight go back to the doctor that filled it for you. You could always wait it out and see what happen in a couple of weeks. -
Need Advice! I was banded 3 weeks ago. Prior to that I went on the liquid diet for 2 weeks and up until a week ago I had lost 27 lbs. I have started eating real foods now and sometimes get 1000 cals in and sometimes less. I have gained back 8 lbs in the last week. I feel discouraged and don't know why I am gaining. When I drink I can gulp water and even know I eat less than before the band I am not lossing weight. I have never vomited my food back up, but I find chicken can get stuck at times. I haven't had a fill yet and am eating about 3/4 cup to 1 cup of food at meal time. Why am I not lossing weight is my body thinking it is starving? Right now I am not super active as I am on vacation and not at work. Help me with some advice.............please?

Weight Gain!!!
Canadian Girl replied to Canadian Girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Guys, Thanks for correcting me on the "Starvation Mode". I stepped on the scale today and now it says I have lost 2 lbs. Yeterday I tried really hard to get 1100 cals in. Maybe that is the amount I need for my body to lose weight, I don't know? But its only been one day and I will have to continue trying to get 1100 cals in per day for the next week and see what happens. I will also commit to walking the dog in the evenings, I hate physical activity but I know now is the time to start a routine to get into a healthery life style. I am trying to stay off the bread, starch vegetables like potatoes, corn and the salt as I know that I do gain weight after eating things like that. I will increase my Protein and eat more salads, veggies and a bit of fruit. Lets see were that gets me. Maybe I am being to hard on myself as this is all new to me, but I don't want there to be a chance to slip back into old habits. If anyone has diet advice I would really love to hear it. Oh ya and I am using this website called MyFitnessPal.com to track my cals and diet. I think it will really help. -
Weight Gain!!!
Canadian Girl replied to Canadian Girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exercise is not my favorite thing by far, but walking is something I think I can do. Right now I am on vacation from work, by usually work is a really active place for me as I am rushing from one place and thing to the next. I do feel like i have good restriction as I am full after eating about 3/4 of a cup of food and don't need to snack between meals, but this weight gain is getting the better of me. -

I don't add any extra salt to my food, but maybe I am not getting enough cals and maybe not eating enough protien. If I eat my 1200 cals per day and Protein at every meal when do you think I will start to lose weight, a week, 2 weeks or am I supost to notice in the next couple of days? I feel frusterated and discouraged! -

lOOKING FOR BAND BUDDY!!!
Canadian Girl replied to Canadian Girl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Are you saying that after losing weight, your stomach changes and you are able to eat less freeing satisfied and there for don't need to get fills all the time? However if you feel ourself gain weight you will get another fill. What kinds for food do you eat now (favorite food) and what kinds of food do you stay away from? Is there a food that you use to eat and now you can't or don't for any reason? It seems klike you have lot a far amount of weight were you always buying new clothes? Do yo think I should do walking on my treadmill to help lose the weight. Were you on medications for health related issues. I am on High Blood pressure pill and cholestoral pills I am hoping to get them reduced or even off the them. Canadian Girl.:cursing: -

:cursing:Glad to hear from you both! And thanks for the congradulations. I have a question for you Chatty what do you mean by "sweet spot" and good "restrictions" with our fill? Does a persons stomach shrink after not eating so much or will it always be the same size? After losing alot of weight has your skin gone back to normal or is its aggy? have you been over filled with your band and before goin to get a fill do you eat differently or drink more fluids? Canadian Girl replied to Canadian Girl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
:wub:Thanks for replying and being my buddy!! I just got a phone call from my patient coordinator Michell and she let me now that the date of my surgery is on July 19th, 2010. I am so trilled!!! She said that because I live in Canada I will need to take a flight to some where in the states and then get on another plan and come to the airport in San Diego. She said I am to strt my liquid diet 2 weeks before surgery and I am to have protien shakes, Soups, salads, Water, crystal light, yogurt and creams. She explained that it would help for the surgery and shrink my liver and it wold prepare me for the post op diet. She also she she would talk to me about my post op diet and how to tell when I needed a fill and were to go. My husband will be flying down with me and we are staying for 3 days. They will book our flights and hotel and let me know more reciepts for my liquid diet. How did you find it on the liquid diet? How much weight did you lose during that time? I am so glad to hear that you felt fine after surgery and the healed with little pain. How much weight have you lost to date and do you feel full with the band? Have you had a fill? Where are you from and where did you get your surgery done? Sorry with all the questions...lol Hope to hear from you soon Canadian Girl
