my name is patti and i went thru all the appointments that i needed to in order to have the lapband but they (the doctors) didnt except me. I really need this surgery, i have diabetes and my bmi is 39. I dont know yet why i wasnt excepted but i have a feeling it is because they think i will be uncompliant. However I havent gotten my letter yet so i dont have a clue. the doctors assistant said that if they feel that someone will be uncompliant that they will tell them to lose 10 percent of there excess body weight and they can or will do the surgery well my problem is that i dont know how to go about losing it. I need some advice if anyone can help just let me know thank you Patti

hi everyone it is christmas eve and i still dont know why i wasnt excepted for lap but I have found another dr. Her name is Dr Clarey out of Dayton Ohio. I havent seen her yet but i did go to a seminar and have an appt with her on Jan 15 I also see the psychologist that same day hopefully they will see fit to except me However B 4 i can have the surgery i have to pay my percent of the bill. which is 20percent and i may have an issue with that but we'll see what happens. As soon as i get the letter telling me why i didnt get excepted i will let you all know. Thank you for your support i love you all Patti

Hello Grace i was looking online for doctors and i saw yours do you know if they take medicare? I am limited to doctors who accept it, I found one in miamisburg that takes it that i am going to call tomorrow and see if i cant go to a seminar. who knows i am just curious if your doc takes it. Thank you all for your replies. I am located in Franklin Ohio in between cincinnati and dayton. I still havent gotten my letter yet so i still dont know why the only problem with another doctor is that I have to find one that takes medicare. The cincinnati weight loss center told me that Christ hospital will take it so i am going to call them tomorrow. (wednesday 12-13-06) and see what they have to say. I would like it if who ever i find can do the procedure laproscopically not open. Hopefully they will do it. thank you all again for your advice patti

Karen, I just read your story and boy I certainly hope that I dont have the kind of issues that you have had now I would be so discusted I would just want them to take it out and if they charged me for it I would (if you can over there) sue for malpractice... I cant believe and i am so sorry that you have had so many problems and hopefullly you will find someone that will take care of you right...

Well well well, I love this site just wanted everyone to know that but i havent been banded yet and am a little nervous. Have lots of questions about eating, "dieting" and the Pre op liquid diet.. First of all the pre op (im not banded yet) and no one has told me about this so can some of you tell me what i need to do... i would like to get a head start in knowing.. second how long did it take to be able to eat something.,.. not liquids? and do we have to diet anymore? i know that seems like a silly question because we have the tool but I am new at all of this havent been banded and i am asking all the questions that i can so that i will know ahead of time Thanks to you all Patti Dayton Oh

Hi my name is Pattiricia and I just read your post and i just wanted to say that I havent had the band put in yet and thanksgiving isnt all it is cracked up to be anyway, you eat and eat and still feel like crap after your finished. (at least it is that way for me) I hope to get banded by christmas and my feelings may change by then but it doesnt feel to good to eat all the food either for me. you know you may be able to take a Taste of all your favs (i dont know) if it doesnt make you ill. Sorry if i wasnt much help but I think that it will be worth it in the end when you are looking and especially feeling your best. When i get banded we'll see if my opinion changes it very may well. I am working at a new job after not working for 3 years and my starting weight was 262 now after only 4 weeks I have lost 10 lbs already. I stopped eating at resturaunts daily and i eat more regularly. However I feel the change I am going to have the most problem with is the no drinking with my food Thats going to be hard Can anyone give my any advice on how to do this without feeling um, sick. thanks pattiriciat:nervous
