    My Band Journey

Pictures of me along the way...
  3. well since i was still losing one pound a week, my dr. didnt even want to do a fill but i told him how hungry ive been and he agreed to put 1cc in (i have a 10cc band). i did the liquid diet again for 48 hours and lost 3 pounds. now that im back to my regular foods, i'm still not noticing any restriction :/ but like you, i have been eating a lot of chicken and fish, veggies, and fruits and staying FAR FAR away from carbs. i guess 1-2 lbs a week isnt so bad. that's about 100 lbs in a year!

  4. i'm not doing too bad. the weightloss has been sloooow lately (but healthy 1-2 lbs a week). i have my first fill tomorrow so we'll see how that goes! glad to hear you're doing well!!

  5. not a problem! i see you were banded in june. how is everything going for you??

  6. onenuttynurse- have you tried prenatal vitamins? i've been taking those and it seems to have gotten better. not to mention, my nails are really strong too

    Embarassed

i've done it too. when you are on those liquids it just feels so good to CHEW something. don't feel embarrassed about it. just be careful that it doesn't become habitual or then it will be a disorder. the day when you can eat solids will come soon enough!

    Tanning bed

i use coppertone sunless tanning gradual tan about 3 times a week and it works pretty well. it's not very streaky at all as long as you rub it in really good.

Day 3 and I just lost it...

the SAME EXACT thing happened to me a few days after surgery. i thought i was going nuts because i just burst out into tears for no apparent reason and was feeling kind of down. in fact at my one week post-op my biggest concern was my mental health because i would just have these random crying bits. i think it is pretty normal though. you went through a BIG change. and honestly, for me, once i was off the liquid diet, the crying went away. Keep your chin up!!!
  10. i had a little bit of hairloss... it doesnt come out in chunks or anything, just a "thinning" of hair you could say. if you make sure you are getting all your protein and taking your vitamins, you shouldn't have a problem with it though. p.s. that's not shallow at all.

    smoking and sex

in one of my "informational pamphlets" it said that 2 weeks post op is an okay time to begin sex again. (good calorie burner lol) also, i quit smoking before my surgery and did okay not smoking for a few weeks after it but i started again and haven't noticed anything super bad... i'd like to know if there are any band-specific complications too. i know it reduces the oxygen in your blood so that may have something to do with it.
  12. Good Luck with your surgery tomorrow!

    So hungry!

can you eat creamed soups? i ate a lot of creamed soups with all the chunks strained out when i was on a liquid diet. the consistency is a little thicker so maybe it will make you feel full longer? just a thought. p.s. i also mixed some unflavored protein powder in it to bump up my protein count.
  14. oh my goodness. i'm only a month post-op, but i had the same exact feelings as you did my first week and a half out. i STILL don't think i can eat a jello-cup or a creamed soup ever again! lol. but i promise things will go up from here! just follow your dr.'s diet (as much as it SUCKS) and HIDE THE SCALE! hahaha. i still have to hide my scale or i obsess over how much i way from day to day. p.s. WAY TO GO quitting smoking! that shows how much will-power you have. you'll do great with the band. :smile2:
  15. why, thank you :)

if that's the biggest challenge i have, i will have had it pretty easy so i can only hope! lol

  16. i am only a month out of surgery and i have experienced some of this too. i was really down in the dumps for a bit about it. i think a lot of people know you had the surgery and are apprehensive to ask questions or don't know how to give support. for about two weeks my friends completely disappeared (and i live four hours from my family so the daily phone call from mom wasn't cutting it). finally, i started calling my friends to workout or asked them to go out. i also TOTALLY know what you mean by people think you are "taking the easy way out." i've gotten that remark a few times and just about blew up. this is probably the hardest thing i've ever done in my entire life. i hope things start looking up for you! i'm completely with ya on getting treated differently though so if you ever need a chat, let me know

    wondering??

i think it is just really frustrating for people to go from completely normal eating habits to having 2-4 oz of liquids every couple hours and not seeing results immediately. not everyone has been out of surgery for months or years and is used to the gradual weightloss. they just need to be encouraged and reassured that the results they are seeing are completely normal.
