Friends don't just understand...
laurigee replied to Karen85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may want to consider that your roles as friends have changed! Every friend is defined a certain way...the smart one, the funny one, the unpredictable one..ect... This surgery may be redefining your role! Your interests, priorities and things to talk about may have changed or they feel they will change. I hate when people assume jealousy is the reason! This is life changing for you and I'm sure you have changed! Not a bad change, but possibly a change that no longer interests your friends! People grow and change, those around you can either enjoy and appreciate your growth or choose to separate themselves. Neither makes anyone a good or bad person! I had different friends when I was single, then when I was married, and again when I had children! Only 2 friends have been with me through them all, and I think it's because we where at the same stages at the same time through the years. Friends are suppose to enhance your life not make it more difficult! I hope everything works out the way you want them to! Good luck! -
I started walking right away after. I didn't start more strenuous exercise until doctors okay at about 3 weeks!

This is just my personal experience...If I lose weight without exercise I always feel fatter. It seems like things start jiggling. I have exercised since the beginning and was close to 300 pounds and am down to 188 now and still have no hanging skin. If you can exercise I would strongly recommend that you do! It does make you feel thinner and healthier, and puts a bounce in your step!

You can do almost everything on the treadmill if you have incline! It's great for toning! Congratulations on your weight loss!
-
Yep!!! I'll take loose pants any day over what the scale reflects! I think it's more frustrating when your scale says you lost weight and the pants tell you a different story! Yeh!!! Your losing!!! Good work!

Congratulation on your success! Keeping positive is definitely important if you want to achieve your goals! Keep up the great work!

Shoulder Pain 4 Weeks Post Op
laurigee replied to PatMac77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is what I experience every time I try to get a fill! It actually goes into my back, shoulder, ear, neck, and causes headaches! I've had my band for 6 years with no fills! I feel sorry for you! I also have a high pain tolerance, but this kicks my butt! Did the doctor add any fluid in your band during surgery? Getting even that small amount out can make a big difference! Please keep me posted and let me know how everything turns out! Hang in there! -
Why am I so scared to not eat?
laurigee replied to CM77539's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat almost everything I did before so I really never morned food. I still eat pizza. Because I haven't changed what I eat, I cook the same for my family as before. However, I eat my protien first! I guess I do eat more vegetables! Desserts are no longer a daily thing. -
Should I go through with the lapband????

Don't worry about the things you can't control, but take charge of those you can! Do your research! Don't jump into anything your not ready for! Good luck! -
I've been married almost 22 years. I think I'm most annoyed when my husband tells me that I'm beautiful when I know that I look like complete crap! It would be nice if he would reserve the compliment for the appropriate moments! It would make it more believable! Then he will say to people "isn't my wife gorgeous?" Well, what in the heck does he expect people to say? I want to crawl in a hole!!!! I've asked him to knock it off but he says it's not his fault that he's totally in love with his wife! He's a moron! It may sound sweet, but when I feel it's not sincere it absolutely gets on my last nerve!!! And just so you understand, i had the flu all last week and walked out of my bedroom and my son said to go back to bed I looked like heck! My husband followed me back to the bedroom, pushed back my stringy hair away from my bright red nose and glassy bloodshot eyes and said, don't listen to him, you look beautiful! Really????

I think I'm a success now! 1 year mark.
laurigee replied to Mark Evans's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow!! Awesome job!! Let us know when you kick that smoking habit!!! Lol. If you lost 148 pounds in a year you can definately stop smoking! You put in to much work to not be completely healthy!!! Congratulations on your weight loss and good luck with kicking that habit!! -
If your eating exactly what your suppose to eat why do you think your doing something wrong? Your only a month into the process! Most of us will tell you that is exactly what we experienced! No two people are the same. Don't compare your results to others. Keep doing what your told and follow the rules and you will see results! Patience is very important!!!! The band is definitely not a quick fix! Stay positive and be patient these are words you will learn to live by! Your not doing anything wrong!

It's such a roller coaster ride if you only rely on the scale to determine your success. Don't let the numbers frustrate you! It may take a while, but you'll get where you want to be! Good luck and don't let the scale mess with your head!!!

looks like I may have to pay out of pocket...
laurigee replied to ShirleyJ84's topic in Insurance & Financing
Mine was $17,500. I worked 3 jobs to save up the money....well worth every penny and lack of sleep! Good luck and don't give up!!! -
So sorry about that! Why do they think this happened? Was it not secured well enough? Don't worry about what people think, not even the band is perfect! Most of us have learned that! I will send a prayer your way for an easy surgery and recovery!
-
Mine was never to bad! I used a heating pad on my back and shoulder once in a while but that was it! Walk a lot for the gas pain and you'll do fine! Congratulations, and hope all goes well!!!

Try to concentrate on healthy eating and exercise. If you commit to that the weight will follow! Even if the scale doesn't show it, you know that your living a healthier lifestyle! Your learning new healthy habits that will not only help you lose weight but to one day maintain it! Patience grasshopper! Lol!!!

Why am I so scared to not eat?
laurigee replied to CM77539's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unfortunately the band won't help you not eat out of boredom! I was like you and was always thin until pregnancy! Those darn kids are hard on a woman's body! After 6 years I have still not mastered my band! However, I haven't been able to get fills yet, which is a long story! I'm kind of a failure when you consider that for the last 2 years I haven't been able to stick to a weight and maintain. However, I have consistently kept off over 60+ pounds. Realize that your not perfect, the bands not perfect, and you will more than likely make a mistake or two or three....but that's part of the learning process! Don't put unrealistic expectations on yourself. It's one day at a time! If you look at it as a journey to health it's a lot easier than if you look at it as a journey to a certain number on the scale! Good luck with your surgery and let us know how it goes! -

Why do you feel you won't be eating again??? -
I was joking!!!!! I think it's kind of funny when people open themselves up to advice or opinions and then are offended by a response! I think your awesome and usually spot on with your advice! I guess I find humor in the little things! My family also finds my humor to be very dry! Lol! SORRY! I love your honesty and your posts they make me giggle because you don't pull any punches! If I wanted HONEST advice you would be one of my first people to ask! I respect your opinions and I apologize for my sense of humor! Lol

I don't think the advice is rude it could be the delivery! Lol

Feeling your port
laurigee replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could feel mine from the very first day. I lost over 100 pounds and there is no difference on how far it sticks out. -
No, I'm not from your support group! I was just kidding around and hoping that my support group doesn't think I havent showed up because I haven't lived up to my statement! Lol..
-
Yikes! I told my friends at support group in October I would look different the next time they seen me because I was recommitting myself! I haven't been back since because my niece died, my uncle died, I had a hysterectomy, broke a rib, my husband had surgery, husband had 2 root canals, had to plan a seniors night for boys basketball team, ect...just no time! I would hate to think they think I'm not showing up because I failed! Maybe I need to make a showing at this months meeting! Lol...

Do you know why the family members credit rating is low? Your credit rating can be low just because you have too many accounts open! Even though you have little or no balance on those accounts! If they have multiple credit cards that have limits that equal over 20% of their income, even though they are not being used they will effect their credit score! These are simple things that people can fix by closing some accounts that will improve their credit score! This would be a benefit not only for you, but to themselves! Again, I don't know why the score is low, but I see this one problem every day! Good Luck, I hope everything works out for you!
