Are you only drinking 1 or 2 glasses of water per day?
-
It's so funny I ran across this. I was just telling my husband about how much weight she lost. We were wondering how she did it! Do you know the date of the show she was on?

I'm personally happy these people exsist! This makes it easier for me to sneak in and out of a store with my sweatpants on and no makeup without anyone noticing! LOL

laurigee replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Unbelievable!! I don't know what else to say that would fit! -
What are you eating? 6 pounds in a week? How many calories? Are you retaining Water? I'm not even sure what else to ask! I can see where you are getting discouraged, but hopefully with some brainstorming it can be figured out! Don't give up!

Omg! Surgery tomorrow!
laurigee replied to Blondie638's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good Luck on your surgery tomorrow! I will say a prayer for your speedy recovery! I can understand where your nervous because it's your first surgery. I have had a lot of surgeries in my lifetime, and I know it sounds weird, but I get excited before my surgeries. I don't sleep well on a regular basis, so for me it's like getting the best sleep I've had in my life and I wake up feeling refreshed and like a million bucks! I know it's easy for me to say, but don't be nervous, everything will work out fine! -
I had my lap band tuesday. how do I shower?
laurigee replied to zburdeshaw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also told I could shower as long as I kept the incisions dry! I was paranoid at first and put the huge waterproof band aids over the incisions. It took me 2 days to realize I could just turn my back to the shower! LOL.....Carolinagirl, you would be the quick learner, I apparently am quite slow! LOL...I wish I could blame it on pain meds, but I wasn't on any! -
I know that some that have had a slipped band can get their fill removed and the band can go back in place after a couple of weeks. Is this not a possibility? This is the time when we find out how much we have changed our lifestyle! If you have taken these 2 years and learned why you over ate, how and what to eat, portion control, and exercise you should be just fine. There is no reason you should gain any substantial weight back until you regain the use of your band. If this isn't something you worked on, this could be the defining moment to your health. You've had the determination to lose over 120 pounds, I am pretty confident that this will be a minor bump in the road for you! You can obviously do anything you set your mind to! Don't be scared or nervous, make it work! Your not losing the band forever. Just think, when you get proper restriction again, those last 24 pounds will probably fly off! Good luck!

That is hilarious!!! That's why I come to this site everyday. Its always good for a few laughs!

How many cc's is your band?
laurigee replied to Harrier's Woman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think it matters that you are already at 8.6. It may take a very little more for you to hit your "green zone". Don't be nervous about things you can't predict or control. It only causes stress on our bodies that we don't need. If your doctor has never had to fill past 10cc's with any other patients, and you have 4cc's passsed that available, you should be comfortable everything will be fine! Good luck, and stop worrying yourself! -
So proud of myself right now :-)
laurigee replied to mickeybeyes's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
A victory is a victory, no matter how big or how small! It made me chuckle to think how much power that one little M&M has! It so easily could have slipped right in and no one would have known but you! LOL..Thats a huge step, you showed your accountable to yourself! That's a real good sign your going to be successful and accountable for your own journey! It takes some of us a much longer time to learn this! Your already a step ahead! -
Your beautiful! Congratulations on your success! Don't rush your journey, if you do you may miss some important things along the way! Let your weight be the result, your health and happiness be your goal! Again, congratulations!

YIKERS!! 300-400 calories a day? I don't think I could roll out of bed everyday on that! LOL...I'm glad your increasing your protien and calories. We have to remember what amount of calories and crappy food our bodies are use to. It hard enough on the body when you get rid of sugar, caffeine, and all the junk that has run through our viens for years, but to then starve yourself, it's going to remind you really quickly whose in charge! You definitely got good advise and I hope you will be feeling better soon! Keep us posted on how your feeling!

I hate to say it, but when I came back to this forumn after several years, at first I was kind of attacked. Some of the "new" bandsters couldn't understand how or why I could have "failed" my band by gaining weight. I've heard "it can't fail", "I didn't want it as much as they do", why would anyone use the term "starting over", told how they have experienced losses in their lives and that didn't cause them to turn to food or gain weight. That was just the tip of the iceberg! I knew my responsibility, I was just looking for support, maybe some help or solutions for some problems I have no control over. I wasn't pissed at the band because i can't get fills, I didn't come on and start crying the band ruined my life and no one should get it because of the complications I have experienced. However, you would have never guessed that by the way I was treated by some. I hope if this person truly wants help or answers they do as I did....Listen to the remarks that help, and throw in the trash the opinions of those that have no intentions but harm. I have learned over the years that those who think they sit above us all find out eventually there is no where for them to go but down! I hope if this ever happens to them, we don't forget how it feels, and we will be there for them to help them up. There are good people here that are helpful and supportive and I appreciate and respect their opinions. This is why I choose to make this site a daily visit. It has helped me and supported me to get rid of 11 pounds so far this month! God Bless those of you for your help!!

I think coming to this site at night helps me! Reading people's stories inspire me. I don't compare, I just try to enlighten myself. I also take the time at night to write in my journal. It keeps me from eating because I don't want to write that extra food in and add more calories to my day. For a week, write down the foods that you wanted to eat at night but didn't! When you add the calories up at the end of the week you'll be shocked at how many calories you saved by resisting this urge! It makes me feel empowered for the next week! It shows me how all those little things add up.

Holy Cow, you look so much younger! You don't look like the same person! Congratulations!

Definitely the fill could be causing your headaches. I have had my band for 6 years and have never been able to keep a fill. No matter how small a fill I get I have shoulder, neck, and jaw pain along with a headache. Don't torture yourself, if it isn't gone by tomorrow, get into the doctor to get some out. Listen to your body, its telling you something isn't right! Good Luck!

I never needed any pain meds. I used ibuprofen the first day. Had surgery on Thursday and back to doing almost everything by Monday. The worst was the gas pains the first day or two. Good luck!

Well, I fell off the wagon also. However, I haven't had the experience in 6 years to know what "the green zone" is. I probably never will. I have never been able to tolerate even the slightest fill! So while I lost over 100 pounds with no fill, which I give the band credit for the help! I will never experience this "great place" everyone talks about! I know my part in my recent weight gain, however, I also see advantages that others have that I don't. This is not an excuse, it's a reality. Would all of you be at goal or as successful if you were never given a fill? I don't think the band should do 100% for me, but for anyone to think that if I would just "follow the rules" it should be "impossible" to fall off the wagon is kind of hurtful. I accept my part, however, the band isn't as responsive and cooperative with everyone. After 6 years with the band the one thing I have learned is.... never say never!

Actually, I thought that was the easiest stage to follow. Always follow your instincts. You need to be your own advocate. Good luck, and just take it slow whichever path you decide to choose!

If you don't have a fever and were not exposed to anyone with the flu or strep they still may do the surgery. I have those symptoms regularly from allergies. Every doctor is different. Just be honest with them and let them know how you feel. It can be difficult enough emotionally having the surgery, you don't want to be physically sick on top of that! Let us know how everything goes! Good luck!

I agree, the Popsicles were my lifesaver at the time! They still are! I also got excited every morning for my chewable vitamins and orange Vitamin C chewables. They were so yummy! This is just one stage of the process, it to shall pass! Good Luck!

Wow....I healed really well also but was still on a strict diet. Be careful. I think if I were you I would read up on why the post op diet is important. Then you can make an informed decision on how you want to proceed. I usually tell people to always listen to their doctor, but this one I'm not real sure about. There are so many different opinions, inform yourself, then choose what feels right for you.

I am a business owner, therefore, I may have a different opinion than some. I like to know that the people I hire realize how difficult and expensive it is to employ more people and how many people would love to have the opportunity to get their foot in the door. I respect their dedication and I expect them to respect that i hired them because it is important for my company that they are there to do their job. If it was optional whether they be there, I would probably not hire another person and just try covering that position with current employees. With that said, in today's economy I would never tell someone to blow off work. There are 100 if not 1000's of people that can and would take your place. Remember, it's a 90 day probation! If your boss isn't the big wig in charge, I wouldn't trust what was said between the 2 of you prior to getting the job will be conveyed to those in charge! Putting yourself first is very important! You can do that by looking at your diet, changing what needs to be changed, start an exercise routine, and getting in touch with the reasons why your overweight! This does not have to put the process on hold, it just starts it differently! 90 days will fly by and you will be able to be comfortable knowing the days you take off will not cause any animosity or jeopardize your job in any way!

Eating at restaurants
laurigee replied to sapcat54's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like to order a main course salad, however, I have them bring it out with everyone else's appetizers, soups, or side salads. This way I have the entire time to eat my meal and it keeps me away from wanting the appetizers everyone else orders. I never feel I have to rush and no one even notices that I'm eating slower because we finish around the same time!
