Anxious but Excited!!!
laurigee replied to PatMac77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations to both of you!!!! I love having surgery, it's the only time I get great sleep! Lol. The next part of your journey has now begun! I will send you both out a prayer for a speedy recovery! -
I was getting food again!!!! I would have pureed anything and ate it!!! It was better than Christmas! I agree with Sharpie about those Bob Evans mashed potatoes! Yummy!!!!
-
My insurance will not pay for any complications that arise from an elective surgery not covered under their plan! That is just my insurance, I'm sure there are some out there that possibly would????

It's great that your listening to your body and band! Some people get to wrapped up in getting fills to fast, they think it's going to speed up the weight loss process! In reality a lot of times it causes more problems than benefits! I can tell you have the concept of the band and I feel your going to be very successful on your journey! Your doing great!

I have my cup of sugar-free diet hot chocolate as soon as my feet hit the floor. I love my chocolate so it gives me my fix for the day! I actually look forward to sitting with my warm cup of hot chocolate and catching up on the news every morning! I have to have some incentive to crawl out of my warm bed!

Day 4 Pre-op Dr Visit Update
laurigee replied to Spaness2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad that your feeling better! Once you get rid of that thrush you will probably feel like a new woman! It's funny how that pre-op and post-op diet gives you a new found respect and excitement for solid or semi-solid food! During this time I started liking foods I had never liked before just because it had some texture and substance. Runny oatmeal was a delicacy! Your doing great, keep up the good work, can't wait to hear your back to 100%. -
Your body can become dependent on laxatives! Not a good thing! There is nothing you can harm regarding the lap-band and laxatives, its just not good for your body! Definitely increase your fiber! Constipation and being irregular can cause divroticulosos. I found that out during my latest colonoscopy! It pushes out on the colon and causes pockets. EWWWWW......that sounds like to much information doesn't it...lol
-
Did you try to sip warm liquids? I have to do that every morning to get my band going!
-
Those phantom feelings! Kind of like when you keep your cell phone in your pocket and even when it's not in there you still feel your leg vibrate! Lol!
-
I had a problem with altering my body. I like the idea that the lap-band is reversible and doesn't cause permanent damage or restructuring! If it wasn't for the band I probably wouldnt have chose weight loss surgery as an option. I would probably be over 300 pounds by now!!!! This is just my thoughts! Everyone has to do their own soul searching and educate theirselves on ALL the options. With good information you will find what fits you and your lifestyle! I will not say that my band has been problem free, however, neither were my children or husband! LOL.. In all cases, I would do it again in a heartbeat! Good luck in finding the answers to your questions and starting your journey no matter what you choose!

Will the sweet spot ever come for me?
laurigee replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's funny that you mention a good BM! The reality is that pain meds are constipating. You could be very right about that! Donna...I think we found where your 2 pounds are! Lol -
4 weeks post op and lots of nausea
laurigee replied to Augustina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would definitely see your doctor! It just doesn't sound band related to me?! However, I'm not a doctor! Is the tylenol you take a prescription? If it's Tylenol with codeine it could make you nauseous. I don't take prescription pain killers for that reason. Anti nausea meds are great, but you first have to find out why your nauseous. You don't want to just cover a symptom to a possible problem. I really hope you start feeling better! There is nothing worse that nausea. Please keep us posted on how your doing! -
Im so hungry and surgery is on Feb 7
laurigee replied to honorablebeauty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't say that being able to walk around after 2-3 days is a lie! I was one that was able to do so and I own my own business so it had nothing to do with lack of sick days or vacation. I never needed any pain meds! Everyone's bodies are different! Unfortunately it's a wait and see process. I just had a complete hysterectomy 1 1/2 weeks ago and never needed pain meds. Everyone told me how painful it was and I would have a hard time for a few weeks. It scared me to death! I was terrified for nothing! I would say lap band surgery for me was between a 1-2 on the pain scale. However, don't ask me what childbirth was! I'd give that a 10+. LOL....remember, everyone is different!!!! Don't set yourself up for something that may not happen. Go into it with an open mind. Good luck and I hope all goes well for you! -
Eating and drinking at the same time
laurigee replied to Flowering man's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In our monthly support meeting in December we were told about the new findings. Our surgeon said to try it if we wanted, see what works best based on our individual experience. There were many people in the January meeting that found no difference whether they drank or not. However, I have never found it to be a difficult rule to follow so I'll probably stick to the old rule. -
I just had a total hysterectomy 1 1/2 weeks ago. I was having severe pain in my lower stomach that then went around to my back. I could gain anywhere from 5-10 pounds in a week and go up a pants size, and as mysterious as the pounds and swelling would come, it would go! I was in the ER with such pain they thought I was passing a kidney stone, but when they checked they said no stones! I had every test you've had and the all came out perfectly! Finally my gynecologist said she would like to do a total hysterectomy since I was done having children and see if anything was going on in there they couldn't see on tests! She was right, there was a problem the tests could not detect! I went in for surgery and never had to take one pain killer during my hospital stay or recovery. In fact, they removed my IV an hour after I was returned to my room! I was up and moving 2 hours after the surgery! The doctor and nurses kept saying they didn't think I really had surgery! I felt so much better than I have felt in years! The pain I was in on a daily basis was far more intense than recovering from the surgery! I'm not saying this is your problem, I'm just giving you a possibility! You definitely need to explore all possibilities and be your own advocate! I hope you find the answers for your health problems soon! I know how exhausting it is to be told your healthy yet you feel like crap! I will keep you in my prayers!

Will the sweet spot ever come for me?
laurigee replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry your going through this! I'm not able to exercise right now either because I just had surgery for a total hysterectomy. I'm glad that I had no pain and since the surgery, I haven't had to take pain meds! However, I'm not losing weight right now either. It's weird that you say you could eat more, but don't, yet you stay full or satisfied for 4 hours at a time. Do you think your eating faster and not paying as much attention to that because of the pain meds? Most say that their doctors goal is to not have them feel hungry for 4-6 hours. I can't get fills so I never have been there personally. It is a great possibility that you may need a fill. Don't get to upset over 2 pounds, it will disappear soon and never be seen again! I hope you recover from your injury soon! You will hit your green zone! Good luck! -
Omg first time throwing up on the band
laurigee replied to goingfoit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yikes! It's probably a good idea to go on liquids for a day! I've had the band for over 6 years and have never had that happen! I'm knocking on wood right now!! I hope your feeling better! -
Gained four pounds!
laurigee replied to ErinSue2000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a total hysterectomy 1 1/2 weeks ago, and weighed myself the day after surgery and I was 6 pounds heavier. In about 4 or 5 days I was back to the weight I was before surgery! Don't worry about it right now, there is a lot going on in your body! -

Help!! Do I Give The Old Clothing Away????
laurigee replied to shrcumm's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had the high expectations once myself of never returning to larger clothes. It worked for 4 years! Then life happened and I started gaining weight! Well, guess what??? Just because I gave away my "fat" clothes it didn't stop me from gaining 30 pounds! I would have to say, keep 2 sizes up! If your in a 14 now, keep your 16 and 18. When you go to 12 get rid of the 18 and so on.......its easy to say to get rid of it all, but I am a Michael kors fan and can spend as much as $300.00 a sweater and over $100.00 on a pair of pants! I did have some of my favorite jackets altered! It was brutal to have to go out and purchase clothes again that I didn't plan on wearing for very long! Just my opinion!! Life isn't always perfect, but keeping some clothes if you have room to store it isn't going to sabotage your weight loss! However, if you shop like I do, it could sabotage your wallet!!! LOL -
Are you taking pain meds? They can cause these type of side effects! But so can having surgery, also not putting the sugar, caffeine and other junk into your body. We all go through the withdrawals. Be patient, this as well as many other stages you will go through shall pass! I'm sure everyone around you understands! Every day will get better!!!!! Good luck!!
