I was banded almost a month ago and I have been sleeping in a recliner chair this whole time. A few nights ago I tried to start sleeping in bed, on my stomach, as I usually do, but it always hurts when I wake up in the morning. Does this happen to anyone else?

So i'm unsure if what just happened to be was pb or just throwing up Water. Fair warning the description is kind of gross: About twenty minutes ago I felt like I was going to throw up even though all I had was water. I tried not to and went to sleep but then woke up and ran to the bathroom knowing it was going to happen. Just as I made I started making these repeatative belching noises and water was coming on. I have no idea if it is PB'ing, since I have never done that, or just throwing up water. Can anyone help me with this? Should I call my doctor in the morning? I've only been banded three weeks, I don't even have a fill yet.

My first post-op doctors visit!!!
erieli replied to tryingtofindme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats to you. I'm two weeks out and still can't swim for two weeks. -
I have been reading the sample meal plans and it seems like there is barely any eating at all, 4 oz. or less at a time. I'm just wondering because I eat out a lot and it seems right now like there is nothing that I will be able to order without it going bad (since there are a lot of foods that don't taste well when microwaved later) Also, i'm a vegatarian so I still don't know what I should be prepared for.

I've been thinking a lot about what my doctor and his staff have told me and I have decided there are going to have to be times to make up my own rules/plan as I go along. This is my first lightbulb moment since surgery. So here is the plan: One of the things I heard from the nurse today at my first visit (since the doctor went out of town) is that I can't have the food I love because Protein is more important. Ok, but i'm a vegetarian, and I wasn't eating protein before because I wasn't finding a lot of ways to get protein. No meat, chicken or fish for me thanks. But if I have Protein powder, and I need to use it anyways, why not put it on the food I love to eat and knock both things out at once? It doesn't always have to be eggs and Gelatin free yogart. So thats my plan. I will eat my good food, and of course watch the calories and carbs ect. while I eat the foods I love. So thats my plan. I'm sure it doesn't sound the best to a lot of people but it is making sense in my head.

I went to my first doctor's visit since my surgery last week, which itself was a really bad experience. I had to see the nurse since the doctor is out of town and I insisted I not have to wait and continue the clear liquid diet for another week if I didn't have to. Well, when I was there, she told me that my pills, which I thought were surely small enough to swallow, would need to be crushed. It made me feel bad to think I wouldn't even be able to swallow something so small, smaller than most pieces of candy, like what had I dont to myself that I can't even swallow a little pill anymore? Then I felt like she basically told me to never eat sugar or pasta ever again. I got the band so that I could have those things, not all the time, but once in a while. Ugh, I already feel so much regret over getting the band and a lot of sadness too. This didn't help me. I guess i'm writing this in hopes that there will be some encouragement somewhere to help me remember I did a good thing. :smile2:

I still don't know what I am going to do about the pills but I was originally told that I could have my pills if they were smaller than an M&M as well, and now the nurse is saying differently. I even called the pharmasist to see if my pills should be cut and they told me no because it is an extended release. As for the diet, I am suprised that the diets are so different for everyone. You would think the doctors would be on the same page. Mine was this: week 1: clear liquids only, no Protein, no pills, no Vitamins (no wonder I feel like crap, and they wanted to do it for two weeks until the doctor got back) week 2: full liquids, including applesauce, Jello and oatmeal. I can have my pills, Vitamin and protein now. week 3: mushy foods. pretty much baby food and mashed potatoes week 4: soft foods. I would love to start eating mashed potatoes now. I should just be happy I can have more than just Water and diluted juice.

I had my surgery on June 14th and it has been such a struggle. First, the band broke when they put it on, the doctor had never heard of that. I wish they had gave up but he put a new one on. Then, when I woke up with a belly full of air my lungs were not working and I almost coded. I had lots of dry heaving and pain. I was getting sick from all the pain meds and I such bad pain. I know this is rare but when I read about everything that could happen I didn't think it would happen to me. Since I finally got out of the hospital I have been feeling so depressed and wishing I didn't do this to myself. I really want to believe I am gonna get over this but I honestly feel so sad. Also, my doctor is going out of town so I have to be on a clear liquid diet until the 29th instead 0f 22nd. God, I feel like I made a horrible mistake. :smilielol5:

I just needed to share that I am so nervous about my surgery! I'm scheduled for 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning....eight hours! I don't know what I used to dream about, but for the last week on my liquid diet, i've been dreaming of eating food and having to cancel my surgery! I'm excited but really nervous and I just wanted to share that. Ok, I feel better now.
-
I was wondering what you can have when you go out to eat after surgery? Will I ever be able to eat at the Olive Garden again?
-
Thanks for all the encouragement sad support! I know i'll be fine, just a little nervous. I'm excited to join the losers bench and good luck and congrats to all of you on your surgeries as well.

Congrats on getting banded! I'm 23 and getting banded on the 14th and just wanted to say congrats and its nice to see someone else my age going through this journey!
-
I'm on day three of my liquid diet and i'm not getting headaches but i'm allowed to have any full liquids I want. I was told that if you do get headaches it is from sugar withdrawl. You might want to ask your doctor. Good luck and stay strong!

Congrats!!! Mine is the 14th, and it was fast too, only 9 days notice and less than a month of getting all my consults and everything in! Congrats to both June bandsters!

erieli posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, so my surgery is a week from tomorrow and I don't even remember them telling me when I have to start the liquid diet, or when to stop taking the vitamins, or when to stop taking my other pills. Ugh, I just got a date at my consulation three days ago and this is all happening so fast I haven't gotten to ask all my questions to my doctor yet but I don't want to fall behind! -

Newbie! With some questions...
erieli replied to Karrie88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It really does depend on your insurance. Make sure you have everything done before you go to your consult because that will be one of the last steps. It's not impossible if you get on top of things as soon as possible and keep on track, but from what I read it depends a lot on what you need done for your insurance and how fast they approve you. I got everything done before my consult and I was already approved, it took me less than a month, but remember, that was my insurance. Good luck! -
Thanks!!! I love the losers club!

I know I want to lose the weight, i'm only 23 and i'm 250 at 5 3', and I have been pushing to get banded for a while now. But now that its going ot happen I am second guessing myself thinking 'why couldn't I just diet and exercisr and do this on my own?' I know that every time before when I have lost the weight I have gained it back so logically I know this will help me but i'm also starting to chicken out. Can anyone please remind me why lap band is a good thing and how it is better than trying to keep doing it on my own? I just need reassurance please!!!! :cursing:

Thank you all so much for your responses and support! It's really helpful to hear that this is a good thing for me from other people who are in the same boat. This really helped me feel reassured!
