    Surgery is tomorrow! 12/13/13

First day is the worst. Third day gets really better. Do you have GasX strips from the drugstore? They will really help. Get sleep, walk around the house as much as you can tomorrow, and rest. Welcome to the other side, and post often! Strange about the yelling part, but anesthesia does strange things sometimes.... :-)

Band Pain/pressure Is Much Too Low?

I get that tugging/pulling sensation sometimes too. Would be interested in what you find out. Mine only started once I started in big time with abdominal exercises -- I do a lot of Pilates and crunches... I thought it might have something to do with that or just gas. I would not call mine pain, though, just a very strong "awareness" of my port area after I eat. I am two years out from surgery. Doc checked my port in Nov and said it was nice and flat and he could feel the tubing just fine. (I had thought port may have twisted). Are you doing a lot of crunches or ab work lately?

Here's to you! And welcome to the banded life. It's been a wonderful journey for me, and I wish you same. You will do great!

    what the........?

Oh shoot, hit send on accident! Anyway, don't wallow in your misery, makes you feel worse. But it is not OK, either, and you obviously know that. White-knuckle with me, sister, at least 3 days til the sugar cravings give way and we are sane once again!!!

    what the........?

My goodness! I just finished posting my own chocolate dilemma (I'm 2 years post surgery though) and then I saw this. Chin up, focus on protein now. Lots of protein. Whether you're in bandster hell or 2 years out, we all choose what we actually put into our mouths, lol. No one is perfect, but it's a good goal for all of us to choose right foods the m

Kymie! Great to hear your update! I think we all should do an "anniversary" pouch test like you did. 8 pounds gone is awesome, and it does go to show that the band continuously does it's part if we do ours. Just wondering, how much more do you have until goal? You and I have both done a great job at not gaining back, yay, us! I had for a while thought to make 145 my goal, but I am truly very happy with 160 at almost 5'7. I'm going to try your anniversary reset as part of this team, though. Anyone else? Holiday eating has been OK as far as not gaining for me. Choosing the right foods is another issue, I went on a chocolate kick last week that upset my stomach. Too much chocolate or sugar or fatty foods gives me kind of a sour stomach; not to mention makes me very sleepy. I was a little low on iron at my last blood test, so my focus this year is getting the right, healthy foods in again -- just like my first year. Check in ladies!

JDI, you're on a roll! So good to hear your cheery voice here. Did Thanksgiving treat you well? I was down 4 lbs at my check up, at 160, no fill. Kinda gross, but post nasal drip from the change in weather seems to be making me less hungry. I'll have another check up in March or April (my choice to schedule so soon). How is everyone? We seem to be getting busy and falling off here....

What Should I Tell My Boss

Well, they're actually going to "repair" the hernia ... Same as they did mine, lol.

    Kinda Gross, But Constipated! Suggestions?

Chia seeds!! I try to add a Tablespoon to yogurt or something everyday. They help produce a soft, bulky stool everyday.. Plus lots of antioxidants, too. You can find them at a nice grocery store or a health food store.
  19. You will be absolutely fine. Breathe. Relax. Look at the good things that are coming your way, because they are! I was petrified before my surgery. I had already chickened out from an RNY the year prior. told them I'm a nervous Nellie for surgeries of any kind, so the anesthesiast gave me a small pill before they brought me in to the gurney. They knew I was a flight risk even when I showed up that morning, lol! I was out, surgery lasted about 40 minutes, I woke up, waited a little, and was headed in the car home. It was much, much, much less of an an ordeal than I had anticipated in my mind! I hope you have the same experience. You can do this and you will feel such pride after it is all done. Report back, please!!

    Food On The Brain!

Bran muffin, I am sure this will tame down in a few more weeks. I remember feeling that way at first with my band, and thinking oh, no, I hope I'm not forming an alternate obsession! In the beginning, there is much more to be aware of as you are making changes, so you may constantly be thinking in one way or another, about food. After awhile it will begin to become habit and lifestyle, and the constant planning will ease up and you will just "be." Hang in there, it gets WAY better!

    Anyone getting banded in Nov?

Walking and GasX (OTC at drugstore) work great for the shoulder pain. I also had hernia repair still time of surgery and if I remember correctly the shoulder pain for me lasted a week or two. Just when I thought it would never go away, it did.

    I'm Banded!

Welcome! Walking and GasX are lifesavers the first couple of days, for gas/shoulder pains.
