    Pumpkin spice steel cut oats

That sounds really good! I just had plain steel cuts oats, which I love; pumpkin added would be good for sure!

Lycée, there's lots of info and support in this forum. Also good info on the net and YouTube as well. I personally like the website of an AZ doctor, Dr. Simpson; you can google him, he offers lots of info. And of course, there's all of us here.
  4. Oops, did NOT have a short term sweet spot
  5. Wow, some of us can really get really get our high-horses, can't we? 100 pounds, a failure? Come on! And from a weight loss surgery support forum? I cannot even imagine the stress involved in being such a public figure with WLS; I give him (and others) kudos for that alone. It took me over 2 years to lose 70, and believe me, if it had taken 3 or 4, I'd still be trying to lose -- with the help of my band. That's the great thing about the band ... It continues to work ... And it's one of the reasons I chose it after a lot of research. I wanted something that was not drastic, and that did have a short-term sweet spot in case I couldn't achieve such quick loss stats as other posters here. But that's just me. In our own way, as long as we are getting healthier, we are all successes.

My biggest challenge has been eating slowly, which is important. I believe my appetite came back after a couple of weeks, but still not a lot, that's why I've required so few fills. Again, everyone is different, so enjoy this not-hungry period because it does return. I'm headed off to bed now, but will find you another day and would be happy to answer any questions you may have!

I'm going to try to turn in. I'll add you to my nightly prayers, and leave you with many other night owls on here. Truly hoping you are feeling better.

I am over 2 years out, and at goal. I eat all of those now, but did not eat rice or bread early on. I still don't eat a lot of them now, since the are full of carbs, but if I wanted to, yes, I am not physically prevented from eating them. Some people on here say they cannot tolerate them because their bands are adjusted tighter and that works for them. Everyone is different. But in the beginning, my doctor advised no breads or rice, and that is what I did to enhance my weight loss.

    Crud.... Here we go again!

I hope that does it for you, but I'd still get a follow up with your doc. I went and read your earlier posts about the erosion check; it's good he takes checking things out seriously. I've only had one bout of pain/nausea, and it was due to a very stress-filled day and some Cajun-spiced scallops that were very, very spicy. I used to love spicy foods, but not anymore. :-/ I'm taking it that you're going to try and get some sleep soon, so wishing you a solid sleep and a better tomorrow.

Wendy is right (above). Give it time; we were all terrified (of the unknown) in the beginning. It gets way, way better. And you will succeed ... It's very different than a usual diet ... And you're already off to a good start!

    Crud.... Here we go again!

Happy to provide it. I know from experience that sometimes a little company can make things so much more bearable, I'm glad you have his numbers and that you are in the med field yourself; of course you know that alone, makes you even more hyper-aware, lol. And it's good that is easing up ... But regardless of anyone's batty opinions or comments in the ER, you need to be your own advocate and not really care what they mindlessly say. Maybe if you have some herbal tea, you can sip a cup and just try to relax through it. Sorry I'm far from an md, but I have a husband who has stomach issues for "no medical reason" --but then again, he doesn't have a band to be concerned about either.

    Crud.... Here we go again!

If it's very painful, you should take a trip to the ER or call your doc's emergency number if he provides one. There are many non-band related, and many band-related issues that cause stomach pain and nausea. Not something you are going to diagnose on this forum, although we are all sympathetic to your late night sleep interruption and can keep you company as you pace.

Sorry you're going through this! Since the band checked out ok, do you think maybe you have a stomach bug or something?

    So I've been thinking =/

http://www.amihungry.com has some good information regarding food obsession. It's a program site, but the blog portion of the site is free and has some good info for all of us.

Eating more than 1 cup in a sitting

To address what might be a little confusing on this thread -- the pouch is small, yes, maybe about 2-4 ounces. However, even with the band filled, well-chewed food will pass through fairly quickly. In fact, it is the esophageal contractions pushing the food past the band that gives you that "full" feeling after it has squeezed a number of times. If you were to eat two cups of chicken or beef or eggs all at once and quickly, you would surely have problems. I dare say I bet you are not doing that, and if you are, yes, stop, for all the reasons mentioned above. Some foods, chewed well, can slide right past the band. I know if I am eating "slider" foods, I can eat much more than I should for calorie reasons, and they don't send me that "I'm satisfied" feeling as quickly even if I'm eating slowly. Potatoes and veggies, or chips or ice cream, for instance. But some Proteins don't have the "heft" for me, either. I can eat far more soft white fish, for example, than I can eat "meatier" swordfish. Your doctor probably told you to eat solid Protein first, then your veggies, and carbs. If you truly slow your eating and eat your "solid" protein first, you may find yourself automatically eating less. The "slow" part for me was the biggest challenge, but once I got it, wow, what a difference. I hope this makes sense, I was trying to keep it short.

    Where is your port?

Mine is straight up about 5 inches higher than my belly button and about 10 inches below my boobs. I have no idea why he placed it there, but it works well for me.
