NJ2NC... Was glad to see your second post regarding your brother, I'm not usually judgmental, but I was kind of thinking wow, she can put the drinks down!! J/K Lmao On the same topic, I notice that not only does wine really tear my stomach up now, I can't hold my liquor as well at all. I know gastric bypass people can't drink much, but I'm noticing my tolerance is way down. Two drinks and I'm two sheets to the wind. I don't know if it's lack of food in my stomach or lower weight or what. Kymie... I love Greek yogurt. Ham slices with cream cheese wrapped around a dill pickle. Stover's sugar free chocolate toffees. Frozen grapes. But with your great results it looks like whatever you're doing you should continue! There is a thread on here somewhere that lists 80 or 88 good snack choices, I don't remember which forum but there were some good ideas all under 100 calories. I have no input as to exercise, it's winter and I'm getting that hibernation feeling. Ugh!

Nicki, I wonder about Meredith, too. Can't even imagine the band tightness that stress would cause if she's in the middle of it. Just hoping she and her family are OK. Nicole, doesn't it feel great not to go UP at Thanksgiving! Cheers! I am at 174 still, not up not down. I have not been in 160s for about 15 years, I really need to start "owning" the likelihood of a lower weight.

    Chia Seeds

I eat chia seeds and they are a great snack when you are feeling hungry for "something." A small amount is very satisfying.

Crissylu, way to go! 95 pounds ... Gone! Rkimom, the holidays do bring up memories of the ones we've lost, that's for sure. Also sure that your Dad still sees your progress! Nicole, can't wait for your Monday weigh-in ... This should be good! I have to say that the first banded Thanksgiving was a pleasant surprise. Felt full and satisfied on not that much ... Whoo-hoo! Was very controlled yesterday but tonight when I got home pulled out the leftovers (that's the meal I usually gorge out on ... After all the relatives are gone) and I piled about 2 cups of stuff on the plate thinking I wouldn't eat it all but it was so much smaller than previous year's first helpings ... Sat down, ate about 1/2 cup and thought I'm pretty full already ... And stopped! That, to me, is huge!!! Lovin my band right now!!

How Many Incisions Do You Have?

I had 4, almost a year later you can only slightly see the largest, the port incision.

    Happy Thanksgiving, girlfriends!

    Port Location?

About 4 inches straight above my belly button. No choice for me either. Very small scar and only visible scar that I have.

    Should I Be Worried?

I used waterproof see thru bandaids. Worked great.

Sorry for the double post, I went back and was reading and wanted to respond to NJ2NC ... That's EXACTLY what happened to me a couple of months ago! I was having a hard time, super irritated band, and then nothing. Scared me really because I thought it slipped or eroded or something. My husband said he thought I was just more apprehensive about big bites and eating right and I think that must have been it. My doc said it is likely it was irritated and then as I lost the fat pad around the band it felt much looser. He still wants me to stay with conservative fills and I'm good with that. Even if you do't get another fill on the 19th, you should probably keep the appt ... And let us know what your doc says!

Wow, so much to catch up on since Monday, glad I checked the board! Rkimom, welcome to you and thank you for sharing your story. It will be nice for us to have an experienced voice since we were all banded within weeks of each other. Nicole you are right on when you say Nicki is our Queen of the page ... And Nicki, glad you tossed out the ice cream. I did too. I know everyone says moderation, but one taste is a slippery slope for me. My apologies if I don't comment on everyone's posts, I'm on the old IPad and can't see back and forth to previoius posts. NJ, good week for you! Chrissylu you're still rockin it girl! Otakam is the fill going better now? I got my .2 fill two weeks ago .. 3 in a 10 band ... And it seems good, we'll see tomorrow. The dreary weather and holiday feasts are upon us. My plan for Thanksgiving is to eat tiny portions of everything. I am actually excited to see how it feels to get full without filling my plate 3 times with stuffing and gravy! A really good appetizer I'm making ... Tiny tri-color sweet peppers, cut in half lengthwise and fill with soft herbed goat cheese, sprinkle with chives. It's so easy, so pretty on a plate, and so good! And where is Meredith and Horsegirl?

    LOL too funny a read!

    Popcorn???

Yup, I'm a popper. I chew very, very well and fill up quickly.
  18. Hi Texas! Please don't take as long as I did to do your research (see my join date on my profile? I didn't take the plunge until Jan of this year!) About 2 years of research and about 4 more more failed diets and then I finally called and scheduled. I should have just gone in at the beginning! That being said, I am a cautious sort and feel much better when I know what I am stepping into. There is a lot of peace in deciding to do something with your "eyes wide open." It's not a magic bullet, but it is by far the best lifestyle change I have made. I have lost 50 pounds this year and they are staying off thus far (and for always I hope!) I am healthier, feel better, and look better. I am taking the whole band process very slow with very small fills and I like it that way. This forum is very informative and there are lots of folks here to help support you on your way! Best wishes to you!

    Banded Yesterday

Hi Vanessa and welcome! Yes, my whole operation and afterward were much bett than I had conjured up in my head before surgery day! It continues to be much better than I had thought and I am 11 months out! I take it slow and easy and I'm here for the long haul! Welcome on the wagon!
  20. I only told my husband, and then after a while, a very close friend. Everyone always thinks that people will be watching what or how you are eating and will guess (that's what I had thought), but in reality most people are preoccupied with themselves! My band is not very tight with 3 cc in a 10 cc band, so I pretty much eat normally but in smaller (normal-size) amounts. I've lost about 50 pounds, 40 since surgery this past January, and Sverige knows I am eating better and exercising more. That works for me. :-D
  21. You must be so deservedly proud! Whoo-hoooo!

    Question: Chicken Soup

You can really do it either way. As long as the raw pieces are small, like one-inch square, they'll cook through and flavor the broth. If the chicken is already cooked, add it when the veggies are almost done!

173 today, that's 2 from last Mon. I got a .2 fill on Wed. My next followup will be in January too, and I need to up the exercise too. Ok off to work no more time to post.

First Stuck And Pb Right After 1St Fill

Csking, reading your post made me remember ... Vividly... When the same thing happened to me. Ugh, ugh, ugh I thought I was going to be the first lapbander to die from eating, of all things, a few tortilla chips! Usually chips work fine for me and they do again, by the way, but for some reason on that day a couple of days after my fill, they did not. Now, everyday, when I eat I go realty really slow and see how I will respond before I continue. It was a real learning experience, and now you know too! You won't forget how it felt, believe me!

    Port Pain

Yes, the heavy port feeling does go away. Took about 5 months for me until I wasn't so aware of it all the time.
