    JULY 2013 BAND BUDDIES

You will be fine! Since you're setting up to expect it difficult, I bet you're pleasantly surprised tomorrow. Try to get a little sleep, and welcome to an exciting new journey in the morning! Xx

Wow!! So excited to see the posts from all of you!! Just had to say that, and now I'm going back to read them! Missed all of you!

    So tell me

Sorry, not RFID whatever that is, food I meant.

    So tell me

I think I've pb'd maybe 2 times (after RFID was stuck) and had food stuck maybe 4. All were from eating too fast and too big of bites. You learn quickly! I've never had a problem in a public place (which was a big fear of mine!). Knock wood on that. Remember to always, always take care on the first bite of anything.

How often do you work out?

I've been doing 4 days a week, but you've all motivated me to do 7!!

Nicki! Welcome back, girl! Did you see my ice cream replacement recipe? It's about 2 posts up from here... Try it, it's good. And very low carb. So glad to see you back. Keep with it. SueBee, wow you've got a plateful. You are definitely my inspiration, so happy you keep posting.

    Lunch is Over!

Such a great reminder! I needed this today.
  10. Or make your own ... I make this and it is really good. 4-5 egg whites (from pasteurized eggs) 1/2 cup sour cream Splenda or Truvia equivalent to 1/4 cup reg sugar vanilla Extract to taste In metal bowl whip egg whites to foamy, add "sugar" and vanilla. Beat til soft peaks form, fold in sour cream. At this time you could add in fruit or nuts or other add-ins. Cover with foil, put in freezer and stir every 30 mins. Stirring is important, otherwise you'll get ice chips.

Otaknam, how very scary! So glad they got it all, and glad to see you back on here too. Congrats on your goal. I found an ice cream recipe for Nicki (where are you?) and for all of us. No ice cream maker necessary. It calls for raw eggs, but if you prefer you can find pasteurized eggs at some stores. I made it and it's good. Ice Cream In metal or glass bowl, Beat 4-5 egg whites until foamy, add 1/4 cup sugar (or Truvia or Splenda equivalent), and generous Vanilla Extract, beat until soft peaks form. Fold in 1/2 cup sour cream. Place in freezer, stir every 30 minutes until frozen. Eat. After adding the sour cream, you can add any stir-ins, like instant coffee, sugar-free chocolate, fruit, etc. I was surprised how good it is (makes quite a lot, too). And it has protein, and if you go sugar-free, very few carbs.

    Call me Kermit

Cuz I'm green, finally! I've had my band for a year and a half and done well with very small fills. I thought I was in the green, but never really knew what that might feel like. Soooo for you newbies, pay attention to how you feel the first few days after surgery, before regular hunger sets in. Write it down so you remember, because this is what the green zone feels like! I started with zero in my band and now have 3.4. I've had about 5 fills, I think, of about .5 and .2 the last few times. Until now, I've been dieting to some extent.. With help from my band. I knew there had to be something more... And this is it! I can still eat anything, but the heightened interest in food is diminished. I am also satisfied with much less food each sitting. If you are a year or more in, and still struggling, don't give up hope! :-)

    Almost one month post op

    Wow! You're gonna rock it!

    Call me Kermit

Well I'm sure I could have had bigger fills earlier, but it was my and my drs choice to take it very slow and easy. I started out at lower BMI than than many here, but have done very well relatively, even not in the green. Portion control, exercise, and fluids are key for sure! Good luck to you; there are many great ideas on this site for steps to take when you're in still in bandster hell. I hope that in the meantime, you are still losing some?

Hi guys, I posted a long reply to SueBee last week, but I notice it didn't post. ??? Anyway, glad surgery went well and Nicole, great that the house sold quickly! I guess that we're all off to new starts in one way or another. For me, it's finally being in the green zone since surgery! Had a .2 fill a couple weeks ago and boy, did it change things up! Still can eat anything, but not so much, and I'm not hungry for a much longer time!!! Dropped 3 pounds, too.

    Calories during puree stage

Not really. At purée stage even if you keep track of calories it will not add up to much in my experience. That is assuming, of course, that you are avoiding sugars and fats like ice cream and such!!

Nicole, I posted a long reply a couple of days ago but it obviously didn't take. So glad you gave an update, and like SueBee said, we are here for you. Divorce is a very stressful time no matter how ready you think you are to be apart; it's a major change. I hope your home sells quickly (the market is up in my area, maybe yours as well?) and you can get on with all your new changes. In my eyes, your maintenance with he band is awesome!!! Hugs and strength to you. SueBee, speedy recovery with your surgery. Would love to see some photos when you're ready to show off!!

I'm still here Chrissylu. I've been posting mostly on current threads since not much has been active here... I sure hope everyone is OK.... It's kind of weird how quiet this thread has become.... Anyone??? NJ, Horsegirl, JDI, RKI, Mags, Nicole?.. Is everyone OK? I feel like I've lost touch with dear friends! I've been good, busy like most. Been working out a lot and I've lost mega-inches. Weight is stubbornly the same, but my clothes are getting bigger weekly, and my body is firming up, so I'm happy with that. My next fill appt is mid June. Not sure if I want another one, since I'm feeling pretty good. Please jot a post everyone, even if its just for support of any kind.
