  1. Usually it will take more than one fill to reach restriction. I just returned from my thirs and I can feel the tightness. I wait two weeks between fills to see if there is any change. Try not to rush it.

    poor after care?

I wouldn't put up with that kind of care for a moment. Your doctor should be treating you as if you were a family member. One of the reasons that I chose my surgeon, Dr. Adam Glasgow here in Massachusetts, is because he participates in the total care program. He, his dad who is also a surgeon, and their entire staff treat every patient as if we are royalty. We can call anytime, days, nights, weekends, holidays and talk to them within minutes. If we need to be seen right away, they will meet us at the office or the hospital at any time. They have support groups at least twice a month. Their website is loaded with information and links to other informational websites. They even provide a Buddy service where a person who has had a Lap Band for a while will call you before surgery and after to help with any concerns that you may have. Dr. Glasgow has treated me with the utmost care and professionalism that I have ever had. He and his staff were there fore me before, during and most importantly after my surgery. I would Let your doctor know in no uncertain terms how you feel and if he doesn't satisfy your needs, find a new doctor. You should have the best care because you deserve it. Good Luck!!!
  3. All too often we play the numbers game SAT's, IQ's, ERA's, wins & losses weight, height, etc. It never seems to end. You should be proud of yourself for coming as far as you have. Don't let another set of numbers ruin all of the work that you have accomplished. The numbers that they give for norms change every 5 to 10 years. We all realize going into this endeavor that we need to lose a substantial amount of weight. When we get to OUR goal, we shouldn't have to be hurt by someone else's expectations. If you're comfortable with 225, so be it. But you know something, I'll bet that you will continue to lose More weight, not to satisfy your doctor, but it has become a lifestyle that we have taken up. I congratulate you on your success and hope that one day I will be at MY goal too.

    Please help !!!!!

Almost everyone goes through this at one time or another. Don't worry about it. We've all had bad eating habits for a long time and it will take a while to break them. Just start over and try to stick to the food regimine. You won't feel restriction until after you have had a few fills. After the operation you are swollen and it gives a false sense of restriction. Once the swelling subsides, you can eat more. It's just part of the process. Hang in there. Better times are just around the corner.

    Ahhh! The Bliss!!

 Congrats!!!!! Sounds like you're doing fine. I had my 8 week check-up today and am doing fine. During the first few weeks the hardest part is the liquids and the purees but looking back, that time flew. Keep a positive attitude and you'll get through the first month fine. Best of Luck!!!!
  6. Congrats on doing so well. Keep up the god work

    How much Protein?

The amount of protien required is different for everyone as we are all different sizes and shapes. The amount you are getting seems fine. Remember, if you start feeling hungry between your main meals, try upping your Protein intake to help. Best of luck!!!
  8. :thumbup:Welcome to the club. Don't get too familar with the Exlax cos on the liquid diet, what goes in a liquid usually comes out a liquid. Get lots of rest the first few days and you'll be back to your NEW self in no time. Best of luck!!!
  9. Well, I had my first fill today and it coulden't have gone better. I am 6 weeks post-op and the PA put in 3cc's. I really didn't feel a thing after the initial stick of novocaine and that was nothing. Still losing weight but I am still hungry between lunch and dinner. She said that it's okay to have a healthy snack in between. I'll be on liquids for a day or two, then muchies for a day, then back to solids. No problem!!! Have a great 4th weekend and keep smiling because you burn more calories then when you frown.:tt1:

    Dr. Adam Glasgow

It took 2 months from the time that I had my 1st appointment. Dr. Glasgow and all of the team are great. The surgery wasn't bad and I had very little pain. I was back to work in a week and felt good. I went to a support group metting this week and really liked hearing about other people's experiences. I was banded on May 20th. Best of luck!!!

Where in Mass. is everyone from?

I'm new to the club. I also live in Abington. Got my band on May 21st at Norwood Hospital. Except for some initial naseua I'm feeling pretty good now. Gr. Adam Glasgow did the surgery and i was really impressed. His dad removed the staples last week (didn't hurt at all) and he seems like a great guy too. Hope everyone is doing well. :tongue2:
  14. Hang in there. It will get better. The naseua should pass in a few days but it will be less and less each day. You will really start to feel good in about a week. Best wishes for a quick recovery.:tongue2:
  15. I'm sweating most of the time but I heard that it will eventually go away.
