    Hospital Group ?

Hi all, Just an update on THG, I had my first fill today but had to tavel all the way to Kent to have it done. I thought it would be THG hospital..... but it wasnt it was a normal hospital ish that had opened the x-ray/fill bit to service THG. The doctor that did my fill was brilliant and it was totally painless. I am on fluids for the next 72 hours and am starving!! Oh well hopefully I will loose a few more pounds. I havent been very good that last few weeks to be honest food wise and have slipped off the wagon a bit however I have still managed to loose a few more pounds but I think that is down to portion size as I am no where eating the amount I was before. My clothes are getting big now and that is a briliant feeling!! I have now 4.5ml in my band.... the Surgeon only left 1ml in!!! I have a friend who had it done at the same place and they left 4 ml in for her. Wish he had given me more of a head start. I had to complain about the telephone Dietician appointment they had booked for me, that I couldnt attend... left voice mail on the number on the letter and then was called to say I had missed my appointment. Unfortunatley for them I am not one to say nothing and gave them a big old rant, to which they where very helpful from then on and have been ok. I have a dietician appointment in a week or so... so we shall see what happens there. I met loads of women at the fill today that had the same thoughts and fears as me about the band slipping etc, so that was really good. watch this space!! I will be thin LOL P.s does anyone have a burping problem? everytime I eat or drink I burp like mad!!... very un-lady like!! ha ha ha

recent lap band - still painful

Hey just to update all. My Op went really well. I am just a little sore but other than that I am feeling great. I had really bad shoulder pain yesterday and was worried that maybe a nerve had been trapped during the op, however my shoulder is ok today, I must have been really stiff. All in all no regrets at all. The Hospital was really good and and you can certainly tell the difference between private care and NHS. Heres to new beginings!

I totally know how you feel about needles. I felt the same. I have to lie down when blood is taken as I get dizzy and feel like I will pass out. The Anethaetist was absolulty brilliant and although you feel the little sting of the needle in your hand for two seconds for the drip it wasnt bad at all. I thought I would be a wreck whilst they where putting me under but do you know, I was surprisingly calm. It was the start of a new life for me. The day before the op I was weepy..... looking at my two kids thinking what the hell am I doing, what if it goes wrong..... but I knew I wasnt thinking straight and was dwelling on the bad side. All that you are feeling is normal and Sigurdsson said that to me when I signed the consent forms, he said it was ok to feel scared, its human nature. after the op I thought I would hate the IV being in me but I didnt feel it in my hand at all. I can honestly say its not that bad. You will be fine. Please keep in touch as it would be nice to offer each other support, seeing that we are new banders together

Hello, I had my op done by him on Saturday and he was brilliant. It is now Tuesday and I am feeling really good. Even after the op I was thinking..... have I had it done cos my tummy just feels a bit sore!! I can now lye on my sides which is brilliant as just after the op you have to sleep upright-ish I did get shoulder and back ache after the op and up until yesterday but I think that was just where I was holding myself stiff. Sigurdsson sometimes gives you a head start when he fits the band and leaves some saline in after he has tested the band. my only regret was that I didnt check he did that with me..... I hope so!! I had my op done about midday and around 7pm he came to my room and asked if I was ok. He told me all went well and he would see me again, he shuck my hand and told me good luck and to follow the rules. I followed the milk diet and it is very hard however I did sort of cheat and had two slimfast shakes and a 600 cal meal for my tea on two of the days. As long as you dont go over 1000 cals you should be ok. I did make sure I only had slimfast shakes on the last day before my op, then fluids on the day of the op. For the 7 day milk diet my Advisor told me to have 3 slimfast shakes a day and 2 x 60g of yoghurt, so that helped and the oxo drinks helped with the hunger pangs. I really wish you guys all the best for the op. I was really scared but it all went great! I had my Op done at the Hospital Group and they where really nice. Its up to me now. I am the one that puts the food in my mouth and they are my demons to beat. The band is a tool and I intend to use it to the max!! xxxx:thumbup:

    Hospital Group ?

Hi all I had my band done by the Hospital group on Saturday and found the Hospital really good. The support has been amazing and to tell you the truth with a band YOU have to do the work and decide what is best to put in your own mouth. I am a diet expert.... that is why I am obese and needed a band as I had done all the diets on this earth and can tell you anything you need to know about what is good for you and what isnt. I am fighting my own demons and only I can beat them. I am a very organsed person and have already looked into and set out my diet plans for the coming weeks. I was given a lot of information before and after by the Hospital group on what to do and what not to eat, plus I would like to point out everytime I have called THG I have been able to speak to someone. I am really sorry you have experienced a bad time from THG but I feel I need to give you my take on the clinic and so far it has been good. Maybe they have improved their service based on poor feedback. I hope you are all getting over your ops and have found a way to overcome the obsticales. I am looking forward to the rest of my life. I have already lost two stone. A stone and a half before and half a stone since Saturday. I am following the plans given to me and look forward to my first in fill. This post has not been put on to mock or disbelieve what you have all writtern but just to let all know that there are people that are happy with the service. Regards

    New beginings

Well what can I say this is my first blog and its all about the life changing experience of having a gastirc band. I live in the UK and was refused the band on the NHS.... maybe cos I am not fat enough! I have battled with my weight all my life and thought I had beat it a couple of years ago when I dropped 6 stone and was happy, but the weight crept back on when I stopped going to Slimming world.... or rehab for fat people as I call it. I stopped going purely because I saw the club for what it was a money making scheme to cash in on fat people!! I was happy at the weight I had got too but the advisor sand therefore wanted to put me into competitions to make her look good...... and she rang me demanding to know why I hadnt gone for a while!! ... needless to say I stopped for good after that. Then once I fell off the wagon, the weight came back with a vengeance... even though I was getting fatter I still couldnt see what it was doing to me and the family!! So thats me two days away from a gastirc band and hopefully a new life a lot lighter that I am now! I would love to meet new people on this website as we have one thing in comon and would love to get loads of advice on post op things. xx

    Hospital Group ?

Hi all, I have read all your coments about the Hospital group and am now worried as I have my op with them on saturday. They have been really nice to me and up to now I have had no problem. I live in Hampshire so there is a clinic near me that I can have my fills at hopefully (after the first one) I have a deal with up to 6 fills over 2 years..... so fingers crossed I will be ok. My co-ordinator was a girl called Rachel..... who is ok ish..... very sales patter, but to be honest I would rather they leave me alone and not be in my face all the time. However I am hoping that the after care is better than you have all had. Any advice for me? as like you guys I am past the point of cancelling.......
  14. Hi, I live in Hampshire. I am having my band fitted at Dolan Park in Birmingham, I went private with The Hospital Group. My own doctor wouldnt refer me and told me to go and do some exercise on my lunch break!! Funny though how when I went private my own doctor then said it was a good idea!! I heard that there is a 28 yr waiting list on the NHS.... does anyone else know if this is true? My op in on Saturday 29th May. I am home from work at mo trying to avoid an office cold that is going around as I really dont want my op cancelled!! I am really nervous (mainly of the anesthetic) My youngest daughter who is 10 is sooo frightened I am going to die.... which in turn is making me scared as well!! Anyone have any advice for me?? xxxx
