  1. I’m two weeks post (9/24) and have had no losses since I came home from the hospital. Anyone else experience this? I’m rather frustrated.
  2. The scale hasn’t moved since I came home. I was 231 when I came home from hospital, I’m 231 this morning. I am meeting my goals, but probably not moving as much as I should. But still, there should be some loss, you’d think?
  3. For those of you that have to take multiple pills at one time, how are you doing it? I need to take 4 pills at one time each night and I’m curious how to handle this once I’m sleeved. I usually throw them all back at once and swallow but I don’t think that’s going to work anymore. Are you just swallowing them one at a time every few minutes or so? So much to learn with this. Thanks.

I’m doing ok. Feel like I did 500 sit-ups at once. I was having a lot of trouble getting my fluids down yesterday but I think today will be better. I was sent home with a soaker catheter for incision pain, and I had to remove that myself yesterday...NOT fun. How about you?

Completely normal! You’re contemplating a major life change, you’re entitled to be emotional, and you will be. You and me are surgery buddies!

One week until surgery and I’m getting nervous. Doing shakes for the next four days, then clear liquids until surgery. Not hungry, but definitely want to eat when I’m bored or reading. Hope everyone is doing well.
  12. I’m self-pay, so no issues with insurance due to weight gain, thankfully. It is the time of year, every year, when I start to eat uncontrollably and gain weight. I have SAD, and It happens EVERY year between late August and late September as the days start to get shorter. I’m already up 5#, and I Can’t Stop Eating. My surgery is September 24, and I’m just so irritated, even though this is Just what I do this time of year. Anyone else have this problem?
  13. Oh yes, I’m medicated and have a special light I use. Much better than I used to be, but the seasonal eating has remained the same.
  14. Mine is three days of clear liquids. What is the length and what type of nutrition does yours consist of?
  15. I’m September 24th for sleeve surgery.

Same. Worried about complications. Eager to get going. Worried about pain. Worried about taking time off from work since I’m very new.

Tried to find it, did a search, no dice. Can you link the post here?
  19. I can’t have NSAIDs (my skin literally sloughs off), and Tramadol does nothing for me
  20. Toradol. It’s a non steroidal anti inflammatory. Like Advil. A pain killer.

    Self Pay Surgery Requirements

I have to do blood work, a class on what to expect after surgery and how to eat for the first few weeks, etc. (called a “binder class”), and there’s a three day clear liquids diet before the surgery. I’m about a 40.5 BMI, and I have slightly elevated BP and cholesterol.

September 24th, here! I’m self-pay so don’t have to jump through any hoops except attend a class where I learn about my pre-op diet and eating afterwards, etc..
  24. Has anyone had their band done by Dr. McClellan? She is the doctor I went to see yesterday and she said she has done less than 50 bands so I am curious if anyone on this board had theirs done with her? I'm interested in your experience. TIA!
  25. Hello. I wanted to introduce myself. I am a 36 year old female, SAHM with two kids and I have decided I would like to get the Lap Band. Today was my first consultation with the surgeon I have chosen to do my Lap Band. It will be at least next June before I can be scheduled for my surgery, however, as my insurance (Humana Motorola PPO) has a 6 month physician supervised diet as one of the requirements. Though I have done WW and Medifast in the past few years, both times have not been under a doctor's care so they don't count towards the requirement. The other requirements are that I need to be 150% of my ideal body weight (I am) and that the surgery is medically required (my PCP says it is as I have terrible family history of heart issues in all of my relatives). I am scheduled for a psych eval and a nutritional eval on the 30th and then the clock starts ticking towards that 6 month requirement. I am sure that during this 6 month period I will lose some weight as I assume I will be on some sort of diet? Anyway, the process has been started :success1:
