  1. Hey, my band has been completely empty since last October. I have fine restriction with 0cc in it, and am losing weight. However, two days ago I ate too fast and vomited. After that, I was in a lot of pain and had trouble keeping water down. I went to my doctor, did the barium swallow and we watched as it just sat there in my pouch, not going through. However, he did say that the bands was in the correct position. So today, I'm driving five hours to see my surgeon. Had anyone ever experienced this? Water getting stuck in my pouch with a completely empty band is really odd. I also have a bad headache and my abdomen hurts and feels sore.
  2. Hi everyone! I am 25 years old. I had my surgery 13 months ago. I've lost 80 lbs so far. I try to follow all of the rules and be a good bandster. But lately, I have had bad heartburn. I haven't been able to keep anything down since it started a couple days ago. I went to the doctor and he scheduled an upper GI endoscopy this Friday. Has anyone else had any problems with heartburn with their band? Has anyone ever had an upper endoscopy? I'm supposed to be sedated, so I guess it should be too bad. I know a lot of this is stress. I'm a teacher, and my district is cutting jobs, so I'm worried about that. Plus my family has been giving me a lot of problems about my boyfriend lately. It's just all so much. To make it worse, my lapband doctor's machine is down, so he can't unfill me at all. I'm basically on liquids, and I'm even having trouble keeping THEM down!
  3. I worry about that a lot too. Especially because I was self pay and really can't afford to have another surgery. How did it slip? Were you throwing up a lot or something else? I just want to know to be sure it doesn't happen to me. Also, what did it feel like when it slipped?
  4. I had the same problem. I suffered for a week before I talked to my mom (a nurse) and she suggested a heating pad. It worked wonders! I felt 100% better. Try it!
  5. Great job! You look wonderful! I can't wait until I get there!
  6. Okay, so I was banded on May 28th. The first two months, my diet was very unrestricted. I had a 2cc fill in July that basically did nothing. (I already had 1cc in my band.) But last Friday, I got three more cc's and now I cannot eat anything. I've lost a pound/day (water weight, I'm sure). But everything I eat hurts! The only thing that hasn't hurt so far was grapes. Even my salad hurt! Of course, I took small bites and chewed religiously. Is this normal? What should I be eating that won't hurt?!

    Any Bandsters from Louisiana?

Hey! I'm in Monroe. I was banded on May 28, 2010 in Dallas by Dr. Cribbins. I actually just got my first fill two days ago. I already had 1cc and I had 2ccs added for a total of 3ccs.
  8. I am two weeks post op and am eating like I never had surgery. Like today, I had three eggo waffles for breakfast, a bowl of red beans and corn bread, and two PB&J sandwiches. Could yall eat all of this 2 weeks post op? Am I not following the rules by eating so much? I'm really worried that I'm going to stretch out my pouch and then the surgery would have been for nothing, but I just can't help it.. I'm just so hungry.

    Is this normal?

Oh no, that was all day, not just for breakfast. Does anyone know of any good Protein enriched foods that won't get stuck? I'm not 100% sure of what a stuck feeling is like, but I tried eating chicken the other day and my chest hurt really badly.
  10. First off, hi to everyone. I'm new here. I've been lurking a while, but now it's time to post. I'm a 24 year old teacher from Monroe, Louisiana. I am having my surgery Friday in Dallas by Dr. Joseph Cribbins. I am 5'11'' and weigh 315 right now. I am nervous about my surgery for several reasons almost to the point of backing out. First, I'm paying out of pocket because my insurance didn't cover it. I'm worried that I'll get home and fall down the stairs or something and the band will slip. Where will I be then? Out $11,000. :smile2: Since I'm young, what will my band be like in 50 years? Eroded and slipped all out of place? I guess I'm mainly freaking out about it slipping. I'm worried it's going to slip if I sneeze too hard, for example. I really can't afford to fix it if something happens. Plus I would be very depressed about $11,000 going down the drain. Any helpful advice is appreciated.
