Hi Guys, Don't want to whinge, but I'm feeling seriously crappy! I'm not losing weight like I'd hoped at all. I don't seem to have any restriction at any time other than the morning. But even then I'm still hungry, it just hurts to have anything solid so I have liquids. I'm now only 0.2cc away from where I was when I couldn't keep ANYTHING down (I had an unfill after that..). I don't know whether I should go back and ask for 0.1cc to be put back in or if I'm just one of those people that never gets restriction. Has anybody else experienced this kind of thing? Thanks in advance for your responses!

Why am I losing weight?
cmj19 replied to christina353's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All I can say is you must be lucky! If you feel full you already have the result the fills aim for. -
Hey guys, I called my doctor yesterday (after 5 days of pain) and she suggested having .5 taken out. So I have, but if this is too little restriction we'll try .2 again in a week or two. Crazy what a different so little makes! BeachBabe - I had 6.5cc, but now have 6. Until my fill to 6.5 I hadn't noticed much restriction, then suddenly there was this massive change!

Hi Guys, I'm in a bit of a conundrum. I had a new fill 4 days ago and am having real difficulty. I've been able to eat whatever after all my fills so far, but not this one. I've tried to eat fish, homemade pizza, plain chicken, wet chicken, mashed patato and scrambelled eggs. The only thing I could keep down was the fish, and even then there was a huuuge amount of pain. I've been taking tiny tiny bites, and chewing a million times. liquid goes down if I take really small sips. Can anybody give me any advice - is this what the "sweet spot" (or "green zone" as my doc says) is supossed to be like? I'm not hungry, for the first time since the op, but I never thought it would be this bad. I want to get an unfill, but I don't know if this is how it's meant to be and I just hadn't expected it to be so painful and hard...? Do you guys have loads of things you can't eat?? Thank you!

Thanks so much for your help guys!! I think I will wait another day or two then. The problem is that I can't eat anything (not even soft things), and the one thing that can go down (fish) still hurts. Is it normal to have really intense pain down in your stomach after swallowing a tiny bite??

Hi Guys, Those of you who are on your weight loss track - I'm just wondering how much food you intake each day, and what kind of foods you eat.. I haven't lost any weight since my surgery (6 weeks ago now) and am going for my fourth fill this afternoon. I can still eat a lot! And I want to eat a lot because less doesn't fill me up. My doctor says the "sweet spot" will come - but I don't know how much my sweet spot should be. Could anyone share with me how much food their sweet spot is? How much fills you up, and has it been condusive to weight loss? Did anybody else experience weeks of no weight loss after the surgery? Thanks in advance for any advice!

What foods can't you eat?
cmj19 replied to tle5000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Isn't it funny how different everyone is. Up until my second fill I could eat anything and everything. But now I've had my second I'm finding there are some things that won't go down. So far raw bread (ie. untoasted) won't, and I tried a bite of my boyfriends pie and that was awful! Popcorn and stuff go down sweet as, I just try to keep the amount really tiny if it's the fatty movie kind. -
Hun, don't give up! You are NOT a loser! My doc lets us have a fill whenever we need one. As soon as we start getting hungry we can call up and book in for a quick fill the next day. Mine start on Monday, one month post op. Would it be possible for you to find another doctor to do your fills? Who has different policies? It sounds to me like your only problem is that you haven't got any restriction. That's totally normal! Don't give up hope, you will get there. Hugs to you

Hi there, I'm experiencing exactly the same thing. I was banded July 29th, and get my first fill this coming Monday. About a week postop I started getting starving, and since then I have been on solid food. I too can eat several cups of food a day and still I am feeling hungry. Also, I have put on weight! I've put on 2kgs since surgery (I think thats's about 4 pounds). I think it's quite normal to not feel restriction, apparently every body has a different point for that and you just have to wait till you find it. I am hoping for me the weight loss will start again after my fill on Monday, but right now I am just to hungry to limit my intake. Hope this helps!

Hi guys, I'm having this pain that I think is heartburn, but I'm not entirely sure! It comes in a sudden but quick wave, and is seriously painful. It feels like it comes from my stomach to my throat (hence it feeling like really bad heart burn). I know about gas pains.. is that what it feels like? OR did anybody else have this, and take antacids (eg. titralac)?? Thank you!!

You poor thing! Great news though. Congratulations!

Does this sound normal?
cmj19 replied to lauravandal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery last Thursday, 2 days after you. I was also on 2 weeks of the optifast diet. I lost 13 pounds pre-op, and since the op have lost another 4 pounds (same as you). This might sound weird, but the day after surgery I weighed 2 kgs (4 pounds) more than I had the day before.. maybe because of the liquids etc. So I'm not actually sure how acurate my weight loss measuring is! I think what it's important is that the trend is going down. As long as it's coming off, that's what matters  -
What are your post op lifting restrictions?
cmj19 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wasn't given any instruction about not lifting. All I know is I'm 5 post-op now, and for the past 3 I have been lifting up both my puppies regularly. They weigh between 10-15 pounds each, and I haven't had any problems. I just take it easy! -
How many "walks" while in hospital?
cmj19 replied to honk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took PJs with me, but I also didn't wear them in the end. I really didn't care once it came round to it. I was too preoccupied with trying to get comfortable. I stayed overnight, and the nurse said I could put underwear/whatever I wanted on when I liked. So I just wore a comfy bra and undies under my hospital gown (though I didn't have an open butt one.. maybe that's an American thing?). As for walking around, my advice would be to just take a long coat or a dressing gown. Much easier than trying to change if you don't feel like it. And walk as much as you can! The morning after surgery I found it helped me loads. I just took really short ones up and down the corridor every twenty minutes or so.. ended up looking forward to them really. -

Ate solids 1 week post op- Now I'm scared of consequences- Help
cmj19 replied to dansaral's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't panic! I have to admit I cheated too. But as has been said, you really need to talk to your doctor about it. Honestly, if you'd slipped your band or anything - you would know about it. You just need to tell your doctor what's happening. Many people are put on to solids really early, each doctor is different, so just don't be scared and give him a call. -
This is so great to read - go you! I am 2 days post-op now, and I feel absolutely terrible. I came on here to try and find out when this feeling will stop! I feel tight and saw and I can't eat anything, and just keep crying thinking I've made a mistake (even though in the back of my mind I am sure I haven't). It's so good to hear someone else felt a bit like this at first!

Hi everyone, Just found this site and have to say it's awesome - reading the threads is great. I have my first appointment with the doctor in two days on the 25th. There are a few things I'm concerned about before I commit myself to the lapband surgery though. Can anyone tell me: - I like to exercise a lot. Is it true gulping Water can make you throw up? What do you do when you're exercising hard and need to drink a lot? - I'm 21 and love a couple of wines at the pub with my friends on a Saturday night. Can you still drink alcohol after the lap band?? If anyone could help me out with some answers I would really appreciate it!!

Hi Chatty, What a beautiful post. My heartfelt condolences to you. I lost my father when I was young - he had serious weight issues which contributed to his death at the age of 50. My Grandparents raised me after that, but they passed away three weeks apart just a couple of months ago. I too am trying to make a change in my life. People like you are really inspiring. Keep up the great work, stay strong, stay positive, and know your mother would be so proud!

Thanks for your replies guys! That's really helpful. I have my first appointment tomorrow - can't wait!
