    Leaking Fluid

I went in for my normal checkup today and told my doctor that I felt I needed an adjustment because I had begun to get hungry more often than before and felt that I was able to eat more than I should at times. He checked my Fluid and said that I had lost .5 cc since my last fill and agreed I should get an adjustment. My question is this....Is losing fluid over time a common occurance or should I be concerned about this? What might cause me to lose the fluid? I have had my band for over a year now and have had several fills. Thanks!
  5. Thanks! I will give it a little more time. Janet
  6. Hi all, Quick question, due to problems with being overfilled my doctor removed all my Fluid in June, but yet I am still having problems with food getting stuck and feeling restriction. Is this normal? I thought when you had all the fluid removed it was just like not having the band at all. I wonder why things would still be getting stuck and causing me to PB. I have also begun to have sharp pains on the left side of my stomach. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks, Janet
  7. Hello everyone, I had my 3rd fill last wednesday. I went from 2cc up to 3cc in a 9.75 band. That night it was horrible, I couldn't eat or drink anything. I woke up several times during the night choking on my saliva. I immediately went back to the doctor the next day because I had lost 8 pounds overnight. He took out .5cc and left me at 2.5. I was told to stay on ice chips over the weekend and see how it went. By Monday I was able to drink only 2 16 ounce bottles of water the whole day and could still not eat anything (not that I even wanted anything). Today I was still only able to sip at liquids so I went back and he unfilled me completely and said to give it about a month and let things calm down. Of course when he did the unfill I was finally able to drink with no problems. Oh forgot to mention I had lost 13 pounds in one week. My question is when you are at your "sweet spot" are you able to drink liquids fairly easily or do you have trouble getting them down? I understand about solids, but I am wondering if I should have left the fill alone and maybe that's the way it is suppose to be. Can someone who has found their "sweet spot" please explain to me about drinking liquids? Do you have to sip, does it hurt to drink more than two sips, can you drink more than 32 oz of water a day? Thanks for all the help.
  8. I had my surgery on 12/28/06 and I had my first fill today.

    Medications

I was taking mobic(arthritis med) and my doctor told me I would have to come off of it. He said maybe at about 6 months I might be able to take one every few days, but that anti inflam. tend to cause problems with the band and you run the risk of an ulcer with them. Janet
  10. Congrats on the 17 lb. loss!!!! He had me on clear liquids 2 weeks prior to surgery then 2weeks after surgery. I saw him on 1-16 and they said I could go to full liquids. My next appt. is not until 2-20 so I think at that point it should be mushies/soft food. I am curious as to when I will get my first fill. Janet
  11. Hi there, Dr. Byars did my surgery too (12-28-06). After the first few days I really didn't feel like I had any restriction either. I am now on full liquids and still haven't felt any real restriction, but I have noticed that I don't eat nearly as much as I did before my surgery. I go back to the Dr. 2-20, and I am hoping that he will give me my first fill then. Thus far I have lost about 15lbs. Janet
  12. Congrats!!!!! December 28th for me. Janet
  13. Hi All, I am scheduled to be banded on 12-28 and when I saw my doctor he told me I would not be able to take my arthritis medication any longer. I have been taking Mobic for years (bone on bone in right knee) and without it the pain is horrible. Has anyone else had to stop taking their meds and if so what have you been using in place to ease the pain? Thanks, Janet

    Doctors in Mississippi

Oops I did forget to mention where I live. I am in Lexington which is about an hour from Jackson and 2 hrs from Oxford. Thanks for the info, I actually talked to Dr. Byars today and ended up scheduling surgery for 12-28. Higgij
  15. Hi, New to this board and interested in having lapband surgery. Just wondering if anyone has any information or comments on any doctors in MS. I have an appointment on 11/14 with Dr. Byars in Oxford. I am also still researching options in Mexico. Thanks! Higgij
