Hey Shorty,

So my doc has me on clear liquids, 2oz every 2 hrs for seven days. Was anyone else given similar instructions? I am starting to feel weak either from lack of calories or vitamins or both. Any input is appreciated.

Just banded Wednesday and starving
boricuanessa replied to Shorty81367's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was on Monday. I have been drinking that k2o stuff n drinking a lil bit thicker soup (my mom made chicken soup n I strained it). I slept a lot too. Felt like if I was sleeping than I wldnt feel the pain. -
Post Op Clear Liquid Diet
boricuanessa replied to boricuanessa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
He meant absolutely no Protein of any kind until I saw him 7days later. Monday I'm putting myself on regular liquid diet with protein because his office was not able to schedule me in until Wednesday and they must be crazy if they think I'm waiting that long. Thanks everyone for you thoughts. You all really got me thru this difficult time. -
Just banded Wednesday and starving
boricuanessa replied to Shorty81367's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I said the same thing, that I regretted doing this. I keep thinking I am so hungry when I finally do eat I'm going to eat a whole chicken to myself so what was the point of this band? Then I think its the hunger talking. Once I do get to eat something I'm not going to need to devour anything. Think of everything that you went thru to get here. All that time we thought it was worth it, so it still is, we are just clouded right now. Lots of people on here told me it was normal to feel depressed especially days 3-5. Keep looking at everyone's before and after pics. I went on you tube and watched ppls videos and that helped cuz I thought to myself those ppl can't be stronger than me and look at them now. We can do it too! -
Food dreams upset stomach
boricuanessa replied to krissy1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on Monday and I had a dream that I housed a sub n chips @ Subway and felt sooo guilty, seemed so real. When I woke up I felt relieved that it was only a dream, but I have been starving for days so that was my excuse. I'm 5 days out and today I woke up feeling very nauseous, hope I'm not getting a stomach bug, that's the last thing I need right now. Good luck and take care! -
Just banded Wednesday and starving

OMG I hate that ur going thru this, but this is the exact thing my doc told me to do. I have been so weak and the hunger pains are pains i have never experienced in my life. He told me 2oz every 2 hrs no protein or vitamins until I saw him next week. This in my opinion is crazy and does not make sense. The human body needs calories, vitamins and protein to function let alone heal from surgery. I cried for 2 days straight and after asking many ppl on here finally said screw him. My boyfriend went and got me Kellogs K2O and that has helped take the edge off of the pain. It also has a tiny amount of b6 and b12. I don't know if it was in my mind, but yesterday I had more energy. Don't get me wrong I'm still starving, but not at the point of tears. Everyone tells me that I will get thru this hell and its worth in the end, but I am counting the days down. I knew it was going to be rough, but never had any idea it would be this bad. Good luck! -
Post Op Clear Liquid Diet
boricuanessa replied to boricuanessa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc said no protein or vitamins until I saw him on the 7th day. The hunger is one thing, I know I can make it thru that. What I can't make it thru is this weak feeling, the dizziness and the feeling that I'm going to pass out. I want vitamins BAD! -
Feeling kind of down when I know I shouldn't be...
boricuanessa posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 2 days post op and I'm starting to feel depressed as the realization of this long road is finally setting in. I haven't been hungry so I guess that's a good thing. Just when I thought "if I get rid of the gas pains I will be smooth sailing" I go and had a sugar free popsicle and the burning gas sensation after it was almost unbearable. I can't even eat what I am supposed to eat, this is depressing. I know it doesn't last forever and eventually i'll be back to normal, but man 4-6 weeks now sounds like such a long ways away. -

Post Op Clear Liquid Diet
boricuanessa replied to boricuanessa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Pam, I knew that's what I was missing, but my doc said no protein or vitamins until I see him in seven days. I know if I just had that it wld be sooo much easier. Guess every doc is different. I'm thinking maybe vitamin water or gatorade can help me with the energy part. -
Feeling kind of down when I know I shouldn't be...
boricuanessa replied to boricuanessa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement. Today remarkably I feel a lot better. Can't believe 1 day could make such a difference. Had another popsicle last night and got bad heartburn so I am done with those, but the spasm pain in my chest/sternum is getting better. So as you all said one day at a time and eventually life will be normal again. Thanks again guys! -
How long til you were feeling normal? a little depressed I think
boricuanessa replied to jigglebutt1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just banded on Monday and am feeling the same way. I feel so guilty that I can't play with my baby. He just cries and looks up not understanding and it breaks my heart. Most of the gas pain is gone today, but now I'm not feeling so great. I knew this was going to be rough, but I guess I hadn't really put my head around it. Good luck on this journey. -
Help! Getting Banded on Monday and still haven't chosen a protein shake!
boricuanessa posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am getting on this coming Monday the 25th and have yet to purchase a protein shake (I know I have waited entirely too long). I have researched and cannot make up mind. I have heard of Unjury, Syntha 6, 100% Optimum Whey protein and have also read about people that add protein to Sugar Free Carnation Instant Breakfast. Advice and opinions are appreciated. -
I am getting banded on Monday the 25th and I need to order a protein shake asap. I have been reading all kinds of posts on the best tasting ones and a friend of mine recommended Syntha 6. My question is what is the right amount or the max amount of calories, fat and carbs that a shake should provide. I don't want to get a high calorie shake and defeat the purpose of drinking it. Any advice is appreciated!

Pre-Op Diet vs Old Eating Habits
boricuanessa replied to jguttery's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did your doctor require any special diet prior to surgery? I myself have been counting my calories and realizing how little I need to actually keep my satisfied. It really is all mental. I use to be at work and lunch time would roll by and I swore I was STARVING, but actually it was all iin my mind. So yes I think I know exactly where you are coming from. -
Help! Getting Banded on Monday and still haven't chosen a protein shake!
boricuanessa replied to boricuanessa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone for your input. I bought a bottle of the Unjury (I too thought what kind of name is that lol). Hopefully that will be suffice to get me through the post op. I will also be looking into the Special K to add to water (had forgotten about that one). Thanks again everyone and cross your fingers for me that all goes well. I'm soooo nervous as to what to expect on the other side. -
Help! Getting Banded on Monday and still haven't chosen a protein shake!
boricuanessa replied to boricuanessa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, my doc wants me drinking protein in the stages of post op. I thought at first it was going to have to be long term, but I am sure I can get in my protein once I am back to regular foods. So far I think I may go with Unjury, havent heard of too many people that hate it lol. -
Confused about the post op diet
boricuanessa posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be banded on the 25th and cannot for the life of me remember what exactly are the amounts I am supposed to have on the post op diet. I know that it is clear liquids for the first few days and then I move on to a regular liquid diet, but I dont know the amounts that I am supposed to have of each item (ex: juice, broth, jello). Also, I have been doing the 2 week liquid diet and am not sure if I should be drinking a protein shake already or do I leave that for Stage 2 of my post op diet. Any help is truly appreciated!
