HI... Well yesterday was my very first consultation to discuss having the lapband surgery with Dr Wade Barker in Dallas Tx. i will say i was quite disappointment when i got there at 3:30 and was not seen until 6pm. his staff is overwork and very stressed!! he obviously is overbooked!! my reason for choosing him was that i am going to have to pay cash since my insurance wont cover the surgery and he is 3000 cheaper than other docs in my area... after he explained the procedure he opened the door walked me up to the counter and said someone will schedule your surgery...YIKES!! i have no idea what to expect? what to eat days before? what TO DO or NOT TO DO? im clueless!! can anyone fill in the blanks that he failed to menchion....im having second thoughts due to his poor bedside manner. He told me nothing ! he never said nice to meet you, good by, nothing! he just put my chart on the desk and walked into another offfice. HELP!! IM GETTING COLD FEET ON THIS DEAL!! :help:

Hi...i noticed your quote from Sept. have you had any success?i am like the the most depressed person right now..would be nice to have someone to compare notes with. i have had 5 fills since my surgery in March. ive only lost about 15 pounds. i look no different and i feel no different. i did months of exercise..i did feel better..but that has gone away. i feel like an unsuccessful fastass....my family keep asking me when its going to start working..but its been nearly a year. i have 3.9cc in a 4cc band...when i called the dr this month the nurse tells me she isnt really sure what else she can do for me. that i may be one of the people who is unsuccessful with the surgery. HELP.. i feel like i can eat anything... ssmith9994@gmail.com thanks S. Smith -
HELP....i need some encouragement! i was banded Mar16th, 2007 and ive only lost about 20 pounds...ive had 4 fills and i rarely feel anything except if i eat bread or meat. ive gone back to snacking on sugar treats...i feel so bad i paid all this money and have little progress to show. im gonig for my 5th fill today...and i know i have probably gained since my last fill 6 weeks ago. tell me what i should go back to eating..its almost as if i have forgotten and im eating whatever i want. my family will also be disappointed too. they helped me pay for this surgery b/c my insurance didnt have obesity surgery. so i paid 14k out of pocket. i wanted to be skinny for xmas pictures but im still able to wear the same winter clothes as last year...HELP...i need someones support..i dont get much from hubby at home.. thanks so much for listening..

I have scheduled my surgery for Mar9th..The Dr wasnt real helpful in explaining what the liquid diet consist of...i have recently been diag with Diabetes and i have to take gluphosage 500 4 times a day. Plus i eat every 4 hours (almonds, yogurt, beef sticks) to keep my protein level up so that i dont get weak and pass out at work. i also drink alot of water throughout the day at my desk. can anyone tell me what the do to help prevent diabetic shakes at work now that they have been banded? This is one of my biggest fears!! :help: thanks for any reply!

have you tried Juice Plus? i am not sure what the website is but i am a true believer of this product! (try juice plus.com?) anyway..they have a protein powder and its actually good! they also have the fruit and veggie capsules that you can put in those drinks to make sure that you are getting all your vitamins. Juice Plus has saved my life before being banded! The benefits are endless...check out the research!

please foward me any information you find on financing for the lapband surgery. i believe i fall into the "good candidate" section. it puzzles me that insurance companies will pay for my asthma, diabeties, thyroid and heart condition but throw up a red flag for lapband as not a covered procedure. PACIFICARE PPO and BESTLIFE are horrible....congrats to anyone who has a good insurance that understands patient needs and has paid for thier surgeries. im not giving up ....i will keep looking!

I think it is so great to know that you would do such a kind thing. There are so many people everyday searching for ways to fund a surgery that will save thier lives. A great idea would be to contact a Dr and ask his advice on a particular case that he feels that needs it but cant afford it. If you just ask the public i am sure everyone would feel they were that "needy someone". I have many health problems and have wanted the surgery but even in my situation i would want someone more needy than me to benefit. blessings are upon you for your generosity!!
