I just read an article where Kellie Osbourne credited portion control and avoiding carbonated beverages to her weight loss success. I thought yup, lap band.

Silk PureAlmond milk is 60 cal for a cup. I believe the vanilla flavored almond milk by Silk is 90 cal/cup. I read about it on LBT and picked some up and was very pleasantly surprised. I'm in a hotel and just pulled my half gallon out of the mini fridge to get the nutrition info. I use it with the Unjury chocolate classic protein shake mix--it really is yummy. I'm 2 weeks post band and had a very large hernia repair. The shakes are my go to when nothing else wants to go or stay down (still pretty swollen). Best wishes to you! donnalys

Hello September family, Thanks so much to all the well-wishers, especially Pookie and Pitpat. Well, I made it to Bandland!! Horrible pain post-surgery, just now getting manageable. They gave me morphine yesterday to shut me up. Seems I had a really bad hernia with part of colon protruding into stomach (so don't panic anyone, Dr. says the hernia repair was responsible for most of the pain). Surgery was at 7am-ish, and they told me to get dressed and brought a wheelchair for me at 4:30. Had a few dry heave episodes which were heck on earth. I've forced myself to walk, walk, and walk some more. As bad as it has been, wouldn't change a thing about my decision. The Unjury came today, just in time. So I can have some protein with my strained chicken noodle soup. I'm feeling a bit loopy, nodding out as I am typing. Time for another nap. My wamest wishes to all!!

Hey all, Just wanted to check in. Tomorrow is the big day. I drank the magnesium citrate, had my husband give me the Lovenox shot, and took the shower with the special soap I was given. I have had my final liquid meal. I'm nervous and excited. As of noon today, I still wasn't sure the surgery was a go due to a problem with low potassium which has since resolved (Dr. quadrupled my Rx potassium dosage for the past few days). Fortunately, all went well, and I was told this afternoon to be at the hospital tomorrow by 5:30am. You guys are the greatest. I'll check in again when I can.

Hard not to be irritable when we're hungry. Cognitive functioning goes too. My family has been running for cover; even my dog doesn't want to be around me now. I am in the liquid only phase--surgery in 2 days. I am trying to be mindful that my emotions are all over the place. God help us all--I'm staying out of public places till this is over. I might assault someone eating an ice cream cone. :smile:

I had my pre-op appt yesterday, with blood draw, EKG, and Lovenox. Anyone else have to inject the blood thinners the night before surgery and daily for a week after? Surgery is scheduled for the 8th. I am now at 225.7, down from all time high of 235.5 lbs. The nurse asked me yesterday why I didn't seem excited. I guess because I was nervous and cranky on low carb liver diet. Hope everyone else is doing well. Good luck to all 1st weekers. Thinking about all of you and am looking forward to your first postband posts.

Just found out surgery will be Sept 8, 2010!!!! Such a long and at times difficult process. Love to communicate with other Sept 2010 bandsters! I am very excited!!
