I can relate to you and how you feel. I have pcos and my sister which is about a year older than me we got banded together on the same day last year on may (2009) Ive been exercising this whole time, i try to watch what i eat and absolutly no sweets for me! On the other hand, my sister, has not exercised one day, she thinks walking our dog who stops every 2 steps is a form of cardio, she eats cookies and brownies and what ever she gets her hands on. And I mean ANYTHING. Well i thought i was being fat this whole time and that theres something wrong with me because I started off at 215 and went down to almost 180, but then out of nowhere with out changing my habbits except for exercising more because i started school, I dorm, I gained back most of the weight back. I keep juggling back from 190 to 195. Its depressing and I hate it. I look at myself and say "hey where did this come from?" and then one week itll be gone, but then it will return. My doc told me i still need some more restrictions since I didnt go every 6 weeks since I was soo busy with school. But Im keeping my hopes high and tomorrow I schedule the swallow test to see if I stretched my pouch out. Good luck! We can do this, all of us! I have faith and hope! -
Hey Im 19 and I have PCOS. I was banded on may of 2009 and I really havent lost much weight. At the beginning, my weight was just slipping off of my body, but then for some reason, some of the weight came back. I never stopped exercising, so I must be doing something wrong. Im still getting adjusted. Its hard. My sister who also got banded the same day as me does not have pcos, she does not exercise, ever!!!, nor does she watch what she eats. She has sweets atleast once or twice a day, eats what ever she wants and also eats out a lot, like pizza and red meats, no fruits nor veggies. Her big thing is red meats and sweats. I wont lie and say shes lost a lot of weight but she has lost about the same amount of weight as I have, which frustrates me because I do portion control, I eat a lot less than she does, and I dont eat sweets or eat out, or anything like she does and I exercise a minimum of 4 times a week. Its frustrating, but coming up here to these forums helps a lot and gives a lot of motivation. Just dont lose hope!

Anger, Impatience, PCOS, and a new life

Hey, surprisingly, Im 19 years old, and I have PCOS. I got diagnosed when I was 17. I got banded may of 2009 and let me tell you its been hard... My sister who is a little over a year older than me also got banded at the same time. Your probably thinking, "your so lucky to be going through this with someone else in your family instead of alone" but let me tell you, its like im in this alone. My sister is bigger than me and she eats like crazy. Im tryin to stick to my diet but its so hard when my whole family including my sister eat a whole bunch of food in one sit in and its hard for me to just eat a little bit even though I get full fast. I know exactly what your going through. This diet thing is hard, and it sucks since my older sister and I decided to do this together. But for some reason she just drifted away. The only help I receive from her is when I eat something I shouldnt (which doesnt usually happen) or I eat inbetween meals. And her support is calling me fat and telling me that Im not gonna lose any weight by eating so much and that Im not going to lose any weight ever. But in reality, she eats more than I do and shoves it in my face, especially when she eats ice cream or brownies or pizza and buffalo wings. Well just to clear it up, your not being over emotional nor dramatic. PCOS is a b*tch.. and my sister wouldnt know since she doesnt have it.. -
I got surgery May of 2009. Its been a year since my surgery and at first the lbs were just flying off.. but then i stopped losing the wieght. I started at 217 and went down to 188 in about 3 months but then I gained back most of the weight. Its been a year and as of now I am at 200lbs give or take. My doctor told me that I am fine and just need more adjustments but I have already had around 6. I feel like such a failure..

I think you guys are right.. hidden calories.. gets the best of us! As of my salads, i dont use salad dressing I HATE salad dressing and there isnt any ever in the house. I usually squeeze a lime into my salad and put a little of salt and olive oil, so much healthier than salad dressing. I think its about time i stop bein lazy and start using a food journal. As for my exercising, I usually mix up speed walkin with jogging, I heard that changing the pace in workouts helps burn more calories so I jog for a minute and speed walk for a minute. If I dont jog, Ill do a stepper, I own the airclimber so I do that and also use the rubber arm things to work out my arms a bit. Thanks everyone for giving me some motivation and hope! I have my doctors appointment this wed! Im also going to schedule an appointment for the swallow test I think its called. So the doc can make sure I didnt streatch my stomach out. Thanks again everyone!

The exercising isnt that much of a big deal to me. I run for about half and hour to an hour atleast 4 times a week, and if i dont run, i usually just walk for a long time, i walk everywhere. As of my diet, I try to eat every three hours, but food isnt always available to me so most of the times i eat anywhere between 4 to 6 hours and I dont eat a lot. I mainly eat 2 eggs for breakfast, if not yogurt with some cheerios. If i eat lunch i usually have some type of chicken by itself and for dinner lately ive been eating a lot of fish or soup followed by a salad. I wont lie, sometimes i eat more than what i should. I usually eat a lot if i eat with my family, ill eat to the point where i am way too stuffed. As of desserts i have been doing a pretty good job staying away from them, no chocolate, which is my biggest weakness. and i hate candy and i dont drink soda at all. I usually have plain water, water with lemon or on occasion ill have iced tea. Im aware that after a year i should have lost more weight than what i already have, but i am definetaly not going to give up!
